Porting gsm ROM to cdma - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys another question sorry to be a bother lol. I'm trying to port the joka wild ROM to our cdma r800x. I've managed to hey the room to load but it either will break the ROM leaving me with nothing but a status bar or it will mix my room with his ROM granted when it does that I have everything working halfway. I have wifi on the ROM so internet works media works no service it keeps calling for a baseband. Flashing the cm9 fixes only changes the build prop how can I get data and service to work? Oh and if I do any type of a wipe the major of all three or even just the cache and dalvik or just one of them it breaks the ROM leaving me with a status bar and no signal
Thanx for the help

Using the cm fix wont do anything on a GSM stock rom. In order to port gsm rom into cmda you must change some libs, a few build prop tweaks, and changing the updater script which can not be done in CWM.

Changed libs tweaked the buildprop updater script not sure about could you pm what all needs changed because obviously what I have changed don't work lol thanks cherry2k

CM7 Device Name in the market

I keep getting messages that my device isn't compatible with most software in the market. I'm on nightly 14. It's not a great situation because I can't update many of my apps, and some require updates to function. Any way I can change it so its recognized correctly?
I was having the same problem but it went away for me as of a few minutes ago. I'm running nightly 16 with kernel sanders v3 and have the odexed file mod

Change references in build.prop from epicmtd to epic. Iirc though, this has been fixed in later builds.
If you've changed your dpi settings, revert the changes. This ****s with the market also.

Jt, are you still working with the epic cm team? It looks like they need help with the touchscreen on cm9 and the epic and charge drivers are pretty different. Thanks for all the help and great stuff you've brought for this community, especially without having an epic.

MMS Fix for Boost & Virgin Mobile on CM9 and AOKP

Attached to the bottom of this page is an CWM updater.zip for CM9 and AOKP, flash this after every CM9 update you install. If you do a wipe and restore your data flash this fix AFTER you restore your data as the fix deletes the telephony.db file from the data partition, which stores the APN values. This causes your phone to read the apns-conf.xml and write the correct Virgin Mobile values to the telephony.db on the next boot up.

Yes you could say that except I have been making mms fixes for virgin mobile for much longer than that. I was the one who figured out how to get mms working on cm7/cm9 phones flashed to virgin mobile. The boost script is much more simple, it just gives you the correct apn settings.

Oh most certainly, I just meant if I want to get Virgin Mobile MMS working on a different rom like [Re-Calked ICS] then it would just take following the DYI guide, or is it very complicated to modify the script to work?

(ROM) Unofficial MIUIv2.4.20 port/kang [GB 2.3.7]

I was just wandering over http://miuiandroid.com for themes/mods for my MIUI that I came to know about the last GB Rom for Incredible S which was surprisingly 2.4.20!!!
So, thought of porting it to my Incredible 2, but had no idea of porting & everything else... as i was not a dev!!!!
Finally, I got it ported & flashed it on mine Incredible...& everything seems to be working fine..!!!
Hence, thought of sharing it for those who are still using MIUI-GB.....!!!
For those who are using ICS, plz dont get offensive..!! I just wanted to share what I am using...
Features:
Have used latest CM7.2 as base.
Android v2.3.7
Inbuilt FM Radio is working!!!
Bugs:
On long pressing the power button, notification drawer drops down!!
So,in case you want to reboot or power off...lock the screen & long press power button to reboot or for power off! I have no idea how it works & hence no idea about how to fix it!
I would certainly appreciate help from our devs to fix this!!
If you find any other bugs, kindly post it in the thread..someone should certainly be able to fix it.. lol
Points to remember:
I have made two versions of this rom, one for GSM users & other for CDMA users!!!! :highfive:
So, flash GSM version if u r GSM user like me...& for CDMA users kindly flash the CDMA version! (I cant confirm whether CDMA is working bcoz I have no way to test it...better you have backup!)

Always do a nandroid backup before flashing anything!
Wipe system, cache & dalvik before flashing!
Flash the rom..& enjoy!:fingers-crossed:

Don't forget to press thanks... if you liked this rom!!!!

Same thing as before for me. No radio. No signal. It keeps putting me "in airplane mode" even though the airplane never shows up in the status bar, it just shows no signal. Checked settings etc.
Hope someone gets this figured out. I do miss GB MIUI!

Well...i have a workaround! Hope that fixes it...
First flash MIUIv1.12.30 from miui.us...once it boots up...u r surely going to have your CDMA network...then reboot in recovery..wipe cache and dalvik (NO SYSTEM WIPE) & just flash this CDMA version over it! I hope that CDMA will work then!!! :fingers-crossed:
So the only real issue is non working CDMA. And that wont take long to fix if a dev would jump in.
Mabey we could extract the CDMA, files from official MIUI, and then out them were need be?

What if we removed all the radio info from the rom zip, then flashed it over 12.9? I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it sounds like a good idea.

The link in the OP is broken for CDMA.
When using camera, it shows purple lines all over, and then wont let me view the picture unless i back out and view it from gallery. Is there a way to fix this? Also, play store will not get a connection. Internet is working fine for me on wifi but it will not connect to the play store.

Anyways on my last ROM which was classic I had to change my apn settings to be able to get MMS messages. I went to use apn manager and it says its not compatible with jelly bean android version 4.0 and above. How can I change my APN settings on this ROM/ software version. Ok so I tried that this morning and the APN I create will not stay. It disappears after I hit save....... kinda lost. I read that you can not write a new APN if the MCC and MNC in the build.prop folder do not match. I checked my build.prop folder and didn't find anything of those codes even in numeric form. Is there something I'm missing here

Awesome sounds like a plan. Will send him a pm in the morning. Is there any other kernels that anyone knows about to run with these ROMs. I've noticed that the keyboard and some of the apps are laggy. Or is it just because these ROMs are in early dev stages? I'm still a little behind the times with kernels. Don't fully understand them yet

That's a good question I've been wondering that myself and here's a little something I found out while running a rom (2.3.3 Verizon with timescape) that from is from the UK firmware which has the .145 baseband which is also included into the cm7 builds I was looking at the build props of both roms and noticed the base and was the same, so my thoughts were rebasing a cm7 build on that 2.3.3 gingerbread .145 baseband would everything still work? Or would there be to many problems with cm7 sources and stock sources causing it not to load?

isn't the baseband independent from the rom and just the firmware for the modem?
i thought the framework.jar is the problem or what i thought lately that the synaptics touchpad drivers aren't in the cm7 kernel.

Has someone tried with semc prop values? As for Rockstar Games games (lol) you need these values
Code:

If still they don't get activated, it should be a framework issue, rather than a build.prop one

Lol that line (mod.touchmpad.startfrom1=1) is a custom property that will be ignored by the system unless you implement farenheith's code into the framework (that isn't compatible with pre-Ics frameworks unfortunately).
The only chances we have are those values (and fixing the others of course)

Farenheith didn't something for gb coz gb framework works in a different way than ics and +, and I don't have the skills (lol I'm 15 whom was never taught nothing about c/c++) so for now, I can't do anything :/

As I said before, farenheith's fix works only on 4.0+, because he changed some of the methods that (as I know) exist only on GB
so I don't think it'd be that simple (if it was, surely farenheith would have done so) :/

I don't think it'll work :/
That's probably a one-time app (meaning that it starts at first boot) to map home button and such, and it's probably started by Verizon Setup Wizard, and if so we'll have to port it too
