Is there a way to turn off the constant pop-up about default apps? Everytime I restart my device, it asks me about my launcher, everytime I go to a browser from a link, it asks me about that. I have set the default over and over, but it seems like its not sticking.
It is driving me up a wall--Thanks in advance.
It should really only ask you that after you update an app that can be used for that action. Are you rooted, running any custom roms? Perhaps try removing all browsers but the one you want, see if that selection will at least stick. If so, reinstall one browser. Set your preference again, see if it sticks. If you can pinpoint at which point your preference no longer holds, it may be easier to find out what's happening.

I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question

I have the same issue. Everytime I restart my phone, all my default app selections gets reset. It's annoying and I don't know what's causing it... There has to be more people with this problem, no?
every time the phone gets rebooted, it seems to wipe all my default app preferences. I have to select the default launcher on boot.. and I always click on always... maybe not many people reboot their phones?

I have a weird problem, a few days ago I could not turn off the morning alarm because the icons in the lower bar (turn off and snooze) just couldn't be pulled up. I thought I was just too sleepy but I later realized that I can't use the lockscreen shortcuts either. The phone registers the touch but the icons just don't move upward. Also can't decline a call because of this.
Everything was fine the day before this happened, there were no system updates, no settings changed. The phone is running on stock rom, Android 4.2.2, Sense 5.0. No matter what settings I change I can't get it to work again, tried searching google and xda and found nothing similar. If I try to use the lockscreen shortcuts multiple times and then go to the app drawer and just scroll up and down sometimes a random app opens, most often messaging or mail, like it registers the lockscreen command only then. This is so annoying, does anyone know what I can try to eliminate this problem? I wouldn't like to try flashing a custom rom because I don't have any experience and am otherwise satisfied with stock system. Please excuse me if my questions are in any way stupid, I'm just a noob
I still can't find a fix for this, is there really nobody else with this problem?
Now I decided to hard reset the phone to fix this...yeah right, the shortcuts still don't work!
I am getting this error message essentially making the phone useless. I got notification I had an update on Friday. It auto updated, I installed it, it rebooted, and this message continuously pops up and I cant use anything. Factory reset did nothing, and the only semi work around is I was able to get Nova Launcher on there. It semi works but the message comes up every time I lock and unlock the phone.
Nobody seems to know the answer to what the hell this is or what happened but I need someone who is smarter than I to help me fix it please. Any advice is very much appreciated. Phone is unrooted.
Thanks in advance.
Go to setting, General, Apps, All Apps, and fine "Home". Clear cache and reboot.

tried that, it didn't seem to work. Is there something I'm missing? Do certain apps cause this?
Having the same issue right after updating to 6.0; clearing cache didn't work for me either. I suppose I'll try a different launcher in the meanwhile.
"Unfortunately, Home has stopped
I am now rooted using the video instructions from ROOT JUNKY, but I am getting this error message "Unfortunately, Home has stopped" I went to the Apps setting and resets app preference and also clear the home cache but to no effect. i am able to get the simple home setting but not the other advance home setting. please help if you can. Thanks inadvance
LG G4 H815
Problem solved for Lg G4. Go to Settings, General, Apps swipe left to "All" then scroll down to "HOME" not easy home. Open it and clear cache and also "clear data" you will get a warning message when you try to clear data, but that's ok. I was afraid to do this but it works for me, It will only clear and Home screen preference or shortcut you had. You can setup your preferred shortcuts after again. restart and select "Home" as your default. Let me know if this helps
Think not.. Still home crashes
Nope, that's not a fix. All it did was wreck my app placements and settings.. Nothing else. Immediately after clearing the cache and data it crashed exactly the same way.
Home has stopped is becoming increasingly annoying, and also increasing in frequency. I'm going to try Uninstalling the app update that started it all: Voice Mate 4.70.10.
I'll see if this works. If so I'll post here. If not, consider this an open thread and hopefully someone in the G4 community with some skills and knowledge will find a solution.
Anyone found a solution to this problem?

If you have an LG G4 you may have seen this message and waited for the home screen to re-start again, only to happen again and again, I’ve searched all the forums to no avail, so I installed another home screen to got rid of the problem, now have a permanent fix, you have to disable Smart Bulletins:
Go to apps, hit menu, select home screen settings, turn off Smart Bulletins.
Hello,
I'm sure this may seem silly, but it's a genuine nuisance and I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me (and others) out here.
I have an M8S, though this probably applies to most HTC's, that is rooted.
I have my PC set up next to my TV, so one of my favourite apps is the excellent Unified Remote, however whenever I run this app, a HTC Connection services icon appears in my notification bar along with a drawer telling me that it is running. Not information I am that interested in to be honest, but then it won't go away.
I have tried disabling this notification from the app settings, but the checkbox is greyed out.
I have tried installing third-party notification blockers such as this and this, which work for maybe five minutes before it reappears. Again.
The problem is, once it appears, it stays for literally days. Even if I reboot. It returns. Force close. It returns. Eventually, it goes away, but only if I don't launch Unified Remote.
I am rooted as I said above, but I cannot install Xposed. I'm running the custom Pandora Rom and it caused a bootloop.
There must be a better solution. I hope you guys can help me out!
I eventually decided to use Lucky patcher and Disable/Freeze the app. Does anyone know what it is explicitly for? I can't find any information on it.
No ill side-effects so far, I'll update this post if I find any.
UPDATE: 48 hours and so far so good.
I am using Opera as my browser and the OS is 10.0.16.HD65AA. Often when I start typing a long post into an edit window of Opera the input frezzes. That is I am still typing on a GBord, it shows me suggestions for misspelled words, I can backspace and I see text changing in the keyboard's suggestion row, but... text in the text input field is not updating.
I have to wait around 10 seconds for it to unfreeze and update, often I have to click somewhere in the middle of the earlier writen text to force update within the same 10 seconds. I have already tried to switch off non-essential options of gboard like spell checking to no avail.
This is not new, I remember I had the same on my previous Pixel. It just stopped to happen at some point, I just don't remember what has triggered the change. Any leads maybe? Am I alone with the problem?
Does your whole phone freeze or only the browser?
I have a similar problem with Vivaldi, I normally just switch to the homescreen and back to the browser to unfreeze it immadietly.
It probably is problem with the app not the phone, you could try testing a different browser Firefox/Kiwi for example.

Not even a browser, I can still scroll the page. That is only input text field doesn't update.
You should test a different browser just to isolate the cause, you could also try to use a different keyboard app swiftkey for example and see if the issue persists.

This defeats both the purpose and the experiment. But I have tried it. Using any other browser is simply a nightmare obscuring the initial problem: all that panning and scrolling, random moving of input controls etc basically forces mistypes which is the way to unfreeze Opera in the first place. Honestly I don't know how people are using other browsers on Android if they have to write texts there.
Anyhow, the same problem exists in FF and Chrome. It is just not the biggest of their problems, so bothers less.
The main point here: I really had the same issue on Pixel and it has disappeared somehow, I don't remember how unfortunately. So I know it is possible to get rid of it. My question was: probably someone knows how.
Problem is solved with Android 11 FW.
Hello,
I've had this issue since launch and I can't figure a way to fix this. Basically, when I first got my phone, the lock screen was displaying the temperature under the time, with a "tap to learn more" button. And after clicking that, it simply vanished from existence, never to be seen again. It does show itself back when there's a Google Calendar event, but the temperature is gone. And after doing a factory reset recently, the temperature is back, with the "tap to learn more" (which I don’t plan to press, now that I know this will make it go away)
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks
That's a lot of overkill
Find the app and clear it's data next time.
There may be a conflict... like with the Google app*. Could be in settings, somewhere, or in notifications. Disable all power management for now... it will cause erratic behavior.
You need to play with it.
* that nasty little permission to change system settings... can be misused.

I get it. But I had to reset my phone anyway.
My problem is that it shows the temperature, but as soon as I press the "tap to learn more" thing, it shows a slide about at a glance and it just goes away.
So I don't think it's a permission issue if it works just fine before clicking on the forsaken text

You need to track down the associated apks first then look them over. It may be a glitch that you can correct or maybe resetting the apk data is the only way to correct it.
Try clearing the system cache.
Try it in Safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps.

The question is, does it even work for you? I understood that it will be fixed eventually but nah.
Also what kind of apk are you talking about? This is literally the lock screen

I don't have that device but troubleshooting is troubleshooting. You need to dig around for the apk but it's most likely there under system apps.
It's possible the firmware flash was corrupted if so a factory reset won't work. More likey it's a glitch.
Hopefully someone here knows the answer but it's not a major issue. I would tend to just ignore it other then to play with it as a curiosity. No doubt you'll find better fish to fry...
