Multi-view update not installing on my device (Something wrong?) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm trying to download the multi-view update to my device, but Kies keeps freezing on after "the software has downloaded the firmware update components," is this is to do with the phone, or do I need to do something else to get the firmware update working?

Have you tried ota update?

Currently don't have any carrier service. Kies always receives after the "Downloading Firmware Components" Window closes. Any idea?

Not a noob, forgot to select USB debugging

Obviously, my battery was also low; so a firmware upgrade could not proceed, lol
Its all good now

Just to check the obvious -- are you on a stock Samsung unrooted ROM with no modifications to the system partition?
yup, totally stock.
Anyone?

[Q] Anyone else not able to get OTA update?

I'm in Cincinnati Ohio, and I have a *completely stock and non-rooted* Note 2. I have been trying to get this OTA update since it came out, but no dice so far.
It basically just says that no update is available - the same message everyone else reported. Am I just in an area where it has not been rolled out for *anybody*? Or is there something going on?
I know on my Nexus 7 I had to clear the data on a google service to get it to notice when the Kit Kat update showed up - anything like that for the Note 2?
Thanks.
P.S.
I have searched both XDA and with google, and completely read through the main large thread in this forum relating to the update.
I don't want to load the update in any other way that will wipe my phone. I understand that many of you don't feel like waiting for an OTA, and download these updates and load them manually. I do not want to do that. So, this post is only seeking information as to how I can get the OTA update through the update mechanism in the phone.

Have you tried updating through KIES?

No, I don't even have it installed. If I decide to install KIES, does it do the update without wiping the phone - just like the OTA?
I just don't like installing vendor crapware on my computers unless it is absolutely necessary. Which is why I don't own electronics with a "i" prefix.
Ok, I installed KIES and attached is an error message it gives relating to a firmware update

Crap, nevermind. I got this phone via trade and it turns out that the guy I got it from had rooted it at some time in the past... So no OTA for me. I'll accomplish it the way all the other folks have.
Thanks

Lost my Update?

Well, my phone was rooted and I have android version 4.1.2. I did my "software update" inside "about device" and it would download and fail to install, So I thought it was the root. I went ahead and removed the root using an App and now another app verify it is not rooted. Now the problem is I go back to check for the update and it says "The device is up to date"....Did I just shoot myself in the foot?
Why don't you try Root66 version of UVDMD5 ?
I would never apply the 4.3 update to the phone.

Whats wrong with the update?
Please search and read about new issues introduced by Stock update to 4.3. You may do it here or with Google. Look for Bootloader issues, hard bricking, efuse, Knox and Carrier IQ. Many a users also experienced serious signal issues after the update.

[Q] What constitutes an OTA update?

I am a little confused about what constitues an OTA update and wished to clarify this throughly since all rooting methods have a precautionary message regarding this.
From what I know:
1. OTA updates are "only" firmware updates.
What I am confused about:
Considering my above assumption of it being only a firmware update to be right
1. Does OTA update refer to only certain methods of firmware installation?
2.Are there methods to permanently disable it such that only intentional manual procedure will cause it to happen ( E.g: System settings)
Thanks in advance :good:

OTA updates will never install automatically, so take that off your worry list
1.) OTA updates are downloaded to the phone after you allow the download to proceed. Even if you accidentally click download, it will confirm with you again before rebooting the phone and installing it.
2.) If it does give you the notification, you can just long click the notification and Force Close the process. Then it won't bother you again until the next update comes out, or you choose to unroot and flash preroot, then update.

Why can't I update my Tmobile S6 edge plus?!!!

Hi everybody, I'm from Africa and I recently bought a used Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus (sm-g928T) but I can't do software update.
When I go to Settings > About device > And click "Download updates manually"
It says "Registering device..." and then it either says "Processing failed." or "Registration failed."
can you help me to fix this problem please?
I know the phone came from USA in an unofficial way but it's not lost or stolen, I checked it on the Web using imei number and it said it's "clean" device.
Tried a factory reset yet?
If you dont want to do that, then you can download the latest update from Sammobile and install it via Odin.
Smart switch restored my device for me

Hi, I did a factory reset and it didn't change anything.
If I flash the phone via Odin will it still recognize my local sim card or I have to unlock the phone after installing the update?

If you download and install the official version from sammobile (with f. Reset unticicked) the only thing changed should be the os. It would leave everything else as is, unless the way you have your phone unlocked is through some process I don't know.

It's 20 bones for an unlock code anyway. No big deal. I have my defreeze and sim unlocked codes saved for my s5 s6e+ and s7

Should I install the latest update or the same version I have then check for the OTA update?
My phone baseband version is G928TXXU3DPG1 which is wired because I can't find any firmware with (XX) in the middle on sammobile or any other website, the most similar is G928TUVU3DPG1 but I don't wanna use a wrong firmware, I need to be sure.
Any suggestion please? Could my phone be simply refurbished and doesn't support android updates?
Solved using Samfirm and Odin
