Hi everybody, I'm from Africa and I recently bought a used Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus (sm-g928T) but I can't do software update.
When I go to Settings > About device > And click "Download updates manually"
It says "Registering device..." and then it either says "Processing failed." or "Registration failed."
can you help me to fix this problem please?
I know the phone came from USA in an unofficial way but it's not lost or stolen, I checked it on the Web using imei number and it said it's "clean" device.
Tried a factory reset yet?
If you dont want to do that, then you can download the latest update from Sammobile and install it via Odin.
Smart switch restored my device for me

Hi, I did a factory reset and it didn't change anything.
If I flash the phone via Odin will it still recognize my local sim card or I have to unlock the phone after installing the update?

Hi, I tried smart switch and it showed message: "Your device software is up to date: PG1(TMB)" which doesn't make sense because my phone in on android 6.0.1 while it should be on android nougat

If you download and install the official version from sammobile (with f. Reset unticicked) the only thing changed should be the os. It would leave everything else as is, unless the way you have your phone unlocked is through some process I don't know.

It's 20 bones for an unlock code anyway. No big deal. I have my defreeze and sim unlocked codes saved for my s5 s6e+ and s7

Should I install the latest update or the same version I have then check for the OTA update?
My phone baseband version is G928TXXU3DPG1 which is wired because I can't find any firmware with (XX) in the middle on sammobile or any other website, the most similar is G928TUVU3DPG1 but I don't wanna use a wrong firmware, I need to be sure.
Any suggestion please? Could my phone be simply refurbished and doesn't support android updates?
Solved using Samfirm and Odin

Yes.
I have heard others having similar problems if they have modified their phone in any way.
On your phone go to Settings > About device > Status > Device status. What does this show? Is it Modified ?
Download and flash via odin

I am sure you can but you will need to download the official stock ROM for your handset and flash again using ODIN. Best check with people who are more 'in the know' on here though first.
Samsung are making it harder for us people messing around with their phones.
I have the same problem. The OTA update didn't roll out on my phone yet and Samsung Kies tells me I have the latest version. However, my device status says normal and I've checked my flash counter on Download Mode and it said no. (Bought this Note 2 second handedly so I didn't know if the previous owner had rooted this device.)

Thanks for the info, may be I should try to roll back the stock ROM by ODIN and see if I can get the update.
Thank you all.
Regards,
you don't have update because there is no update for your CSC (for now).
Check your CSC to be 100% sure (not csc from *#1234# ,but csc that is showing this app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&hl=pl )

There is no update for my CSC either but the original poster has the same problem as mine where it keeps checking and does not respond. It should let you know if there is an update or not. In the OP's case that does not happen.

My way to solve this problem:
After rooted and reseting counter with triangle away,
After that, make a full wipe data in recovery mode. (so, make a backup up)
Now in status, check device status. It shoud be 'normal' and you can now check update

the first that you should know if it is a 4.1.2 rom in you country/mobile company. Some companies have a slooooow development.
If there is check kies. there is an option (I cant remember what it says esactly) which makes you write your model name and your serial. This update the device to the latest update in theory skipping this check for modifications. It will make a factori reset in your phone so backup important files.
The most important thing is to check the antivirus and the firewall it is known that sometimes it deny the acces to check OTAs
hope it have been useful for U!

Thank you very much!
I talked to Samsung Norway and they said the update was avaible. I then told them it wasnt working, and their solution was... wait for it... return the phone...
After your post I trailed the forum, found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088809
It worked like a charm. It downloaded the update, put in on the phone, and it even didnt erase ANY of my settings while updating. It booted up, and there it was, an updated verion with all my apps and setting.
Thank you very much, once again!
Firmware Upgrade
I am unfortunately having problems updating my N7100 also. I am a bit perplexed and dont know what I have done wrong if anything.
First off my phone is not rooted at the moment and as far as I can tell was never rooted (bought brand new / device status shows normal). Here are the steps that I used:
1. Downloaded KIES onto macbook.
2. Attached phone via usb cable.
3. Followed on screen instructions for firmware update. Took about 10 min to do its thing.
4. Phone rebooted automatically and applied upgrade.
After all was complete my android version still shows 4.1.1
What the heck is wrong? I saw the upgrade taking place (I guess it was upgrading).
Now when I am attached via KIES it shows:
Current Firmware version: PDA: LJ3 / PHONE: LJ2 / CSC: LJ2 (AFR)
Latest Firmware version : PDA: LJ3 / PHONE: LJ2 / CSC: LJ2 (AFR)
Can anyone please advise what is going on here please?
Thanks in advance,

Start up Kies (no cellphone connected), then go to Tools / Firmware Upgrade
It will ask you for the model number, so put that in.
Then it will ask you for either the serial number or MEID, so put that in, too.
Then it should download a big-ass android package (around 1.5 gigabytes).
After the package is decrypted, copy it from the temp directory to some safe place on your local hard drive.
Use Odin in Download Mode to install this package.
The package should end with .tar.md5
If you accepted the official OTA 4.3 update, and you tried to revert your bootloader back to before KNOX... you're lucky since that should have completely hard-bricked your phone. I think, given to your description and assuming you've got the KNOX bootloader now, your best bet would be to try to repair the install by doing what I think is referred to as a "dirty" flash... which basically means you don't format or wipe your data before you attempt another installation of the same version.
I don't know for sure though, so don't take my word without someone who knows more verifying or refuting this.
Good luck, I'll be interested in seeing what you wind up working out.

I downloaded the mk3 modem, and flashed it in odin, it fixed the softbrick. i rooted it with cf-auto and it went through no issue. disabled knox no problem, and now got cwm working.
After several coding attempts, my Note 2 LTE has finally been unlocked from EE.
It was on JB 4.3 but now I notice that it is on 4.1.2 but I'm unable to contact the unlocker at present.
I tried to do a software update to get back to 4.3 but get a message that 'your device has been modified and SW updates are not available'.
Does this mean that it was rooted to achieve the Sim unlock and if so, how can I tell?
Is there another way to revert to 4.3?

Thanks for your help.
Does the phone have to be rooted for this? I've just been advised to run Antutu and according to that, it's not rooted.
TBH I'm a bit (OK a lot) scared to do something that's gonna brick my phone.
All I really want is a working phone with the latest updates.
No need to be root, if something fail you can reflash with another usb port until it works.
I was trying to root my samsung galaxy a5 2017 with TWRP and I accidentally deleted system data. Then, I tried rebooting the phone and it got stuck in a bootloop. To fix this problem I tried flashing stock 8.0 firmware from sammobile via odin and I got this error:
Sw rev. Check fail. Device: 6, binary 5. I think that this means I have to flash the latest stock firmware but there isn't a newer one.
After that, I tried to use my phone by flashing a custom rom (Lineage 15.1) and I discovered that I have no imei,no baseband and no ip adress. I have installed many custom roms but the issue is still there. I am trying to get my phone to work with stock firmware and fix the IMEI issue but odin wont let me flash because of that error. I would appreciate if anyone could help. Thanks.
Flash a firmware version that contains S6 or U6 in the middle, it won't work with U5/S5! Not the Samsung phone S5 or S6, but rather, the firmware version.
For cellular, change the modem firmware, or backup and wipe /data/. /data/data/?.
Unless the efs was wiped (probably not if the baseband version isn't there, load a backup then, only if the efs was wiped don't restore it otherwise, and it must not be a backup created with an older twrp, view the recovery log in the backup folder)

Listen to me, it happened to me 2 days ago, and I came to the conclusion that I was not flash the latest firmware. You need to flash the same firmware with the same bootloader or more recent, the error you receive is because you are flashing an older version of bootloader. Do one thing, type the code *#1234# on the phone keypad
mark the code that gives you on 'AP and look it on Sammobile at https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-a5/SM-A520F/ITV/ select your language and look for the firmware with your own code . You will see that odin flash it.
Samsung A520F Custom Binary Error
Hello please I have been trying to reload my Samsung A520F firmware for a couple of weeks
It all started with the phone trying to update (over WIFI) and somewhere along the line files must have gotten corrupted
This led to the phone constantly restart and shutting down applications
I decided to just download the firmware and use Odin to reload. This, unfortunately, didn't go so well as now the phone isn't starting up anymore but can still get to download mode.
PDA firmware is A520FXXUACSE6
Region is EUR
Network is OPEN
every time I use this firmware I get the error
" Custom binary (BOOT) Blocked by FRP Lock
Please note currently at the moment phone refuses to boot up I read about removing OEM lock and don't know if this is the problem.
Please could you help out

Hi all,
I am trying to reflash the unbranded firmware back on my unlocked S20 Ultra with Odin 3.14.4. I was able to flash the T-mo version, and currently my phone is tmo branded, so that worked, but everytime I try to flash back i get the SHA256 error. I do not know if it is because I am trying to flash the wrong firmware or I am doing something else wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you for the reply, that is not the issue though. Tested re flashing the Tmo firmware that is currently on it and it flashed ok. Its just tryign to reflash to the original unbranded that fails.

If you used HOME_CSC, that might be your culprit.
I had this issue when I flashed TMO firmware on the unlocked phone. With me being lazy, I didn't want to start from scratch and flashed HOME_CSC to experience this exact issue. As soon as I flashed with full wipe, this issue was solved.
