Jelly Bean Apn mmsc issues - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok someone has to know how to fix or get around this issue. Installed (paranoid rom) Jelly Bean on my epic touch that i flashed over from sprint to boost mobile and when i dial *#*#3282#*#* lets me view but when i go to edit type in msl number and gives a modem error so i cannot change my mmsc address to get my pic messaging working. I have tried all of the jellybean roms with same issue, tried all the modems also. ICS works fine to edit mmsc address.

my mms has never worked on any jb or aosp based roms. i always use this fix, ill paste below, to get mine working. i use method #1. maybe this will help

The EVO 3D was my last device and I did all the settings myself... But, the Epic Touch S2 seems a little trickier but, I think i'm just missing something simple!
All help is appreciated

MMS
MAKE SURE YOUR WEB IS WORKING PROPERLY (ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS) AS YOU CAN'T HAVE MMS WITHOUT WORKING INTERNET!!!!!
Remove/Uninstall any existing MMS composer you have attempted to setup. Also a good idea to remove any registry keys it may have created that are left behind after the uninstall.
1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24 from Verzion.
2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.
3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.
4: Add a new server with the following settings:
Server Name: metropcs
Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
Port number: 3128
Server address: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE OR "The internet"
Send limit: 399K
5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.
6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
DELETE KEY -> "X-VzW-MDN"
ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )

Try this as well
Use this guide to get MMS for Metro. Replace the mms.apk as directed. Do Not remove the telephony.db file(dont replace or delete). Go to voice Dialer, say open APN. Create MetroPcs apn with these settings(. For the record I used CleanGB Rom 1.0 - EI22 Modem.
If you should encounter any difficulty after rom flashes, make sure your prl is current. I ran across a problem earlier that stumped me for a bit, airplane mode would toggle on/off and became frustrated to no end.
MetroPCS APN Settings Guide:
These are settings provided to help users with MMS, and 3G.
It works with Most roms. Tested and Confirmed on Swagged Out Stock.
1.Flash an MMS script compatible with your rom. (Scripts created By Bloodykiller86)
MetroPCS Evo Sense 4.53 Based MMS Script v1.5
MetroPCS Sense 2.1/3.0 Hybrids MMS & Web Script v2
MetroPCS Evo AOSP Script v5
MetroPCS Evo MIUI MMS Script v1
2.Download APN Manager from the Android Market.
3.Create a new APN and enter these settings:
APN: internet
Proxy: wap.metropcs.net:3128
Port: 3128
UserName: Phone#@mymetropcs.com
Password: MSL code*
Server: wap.metropcs.net
MMSC: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
MMS Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
MMS Port: 3128
MCC: 310
MNC: 004
APN Type: MMS
4. Download Any Cut from the Android Market, then create an activity, apns on your homescreen.
Open apns choose MetroPCS and edit then authentication type to pap or chap. If no APN exists create a new one and fill it in with the info above.
-Make sure to enable created APN in APN Manager.
-Also if your MMS still isn't working make sure the metropcs.sh file from the script is in the correct place, if it is execute it. If It's not etract it from the script, and place it in the root of the internal memory, set permissions, and then execute it.

Thanks for the suggestions brianhot1 but the first suggestion is for window's mobile phones. I use to use that method back in the day and it does work but not for android's. Second method has correct apn settings but the modded mms.apk is for htc evo. It would not be compatible with a samsung epic touch as android version and and rom play a factor into making a modded mms.apk. Hopefully i will find a way to get it working soon tho.
Just get ur mms apk. Get apktool decompile nd edit mms.config

thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I got apktool now and i go to decompile the original mms.apk and it gives me an error message at the end that i need to install the specific framework for my phone. I used root explorer to get them onto my laptop. Just stuck on installing them now.
Flashed tablets before, but never a phone to switch carriers. I have my eyes on the same solution being discussed here - Samsung Epic Touch 4G on MetroPCS. Is the solution Brian provided the standard steps needed to flash any android device or does it differ between specific models?

Hey can't I just make an app for it?
You using Eclipse you can just make a messaging app.
Wouldn't I just be able to add the MetroPCS APN settings to it?

Accessing ##DATA# on MIUI

I have a Evo 4G on Boost but when I flash a non-sense ROM I can't access ##DATA# from the dialer to change the MMS to myboostmobile.com, is there any other way to change it without a sense rom? I tried using a sense rom to change it then flash to MIUI but it resets it back to the original URL. TIA
Which android version you have?
this right here......is my.. pretty boy swag!
My understanding is you have to be running a Sense ROM for those functions to work.

Use voice dial and say "open apn settings". It will pop up an make sure what you said, but it should work if you said it right

REQUEST: AOSP messaging app (mms.apk)

I'm anxiously awaiting pure AOSP or CM based ROMS - I'm sure they're coming soon.
I'm not a dev, but I am fairly savvy. I'm trying to get a working mms.apk ported to the stock OG ROM. I get terribly frustrated with the stock mms app bug I've discussed in another thread and know it is related to the mms app and not the keyboard. I'd like to revert to the AOSP messaging app if possible (and avoid GO SMS or Handcent).
So far I've tried the following:
1. Install Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS by Tim Hutt from the Play Store -- everything works beautifully except no MMS
2. Copy stock mms.apk to /system/app, rename LGUSmms.apk, change file permissions, reboot -- again, everything works fine, except MMS won't send a pic, it'll attach it, but when you hit send the pic just disappears
***I'm wondering if I need to rename the new mms.apk to LGUSmms.apk???
If anyone has any advice/tips/ideas I'd be very grateful.

I had the same problem. Seems it does not automatically detect the carrier id. We have to insert it into the MCC and MNN manually
To get the id of the carrier:
Dial in the phone *#*#197328640#*#*, will get a menu of service, choose the followin options
[1] DEBUG SCREEN
[5] GPRS INFORMATION
FInally, look for the PLMN info, in my case is:
PLMN 708-2(0)
So:
MCC: 708
MNC: 020
with this data "Save" feature works
I skipped from 10.1 straight to 11, but none of the ROMs I've run ever had an issue detecting MCC/MNC. I found it interesting because my carrier gives those on their website, as if the phone isn't normally able to figure it out on its own.

I had to make quite a few changes to the build.prop file, then added the APN information to get it to work properly.
I have been running it as a daily for about 3 days. Aside from some stock apps not working, the ROM has been great.
I did have gps issues at first, had to flash back to stock, then reload the ROM to fix those. Did have a moment yesterday where I lost all my cell signal, reboot fixed that.

I actually have used philz for a long time and that isn't a problem. I can actually flash the Artmod from the E975 just fine and it boots, but of course nothing data related worked, only WiFi. When I try to install this I just get the Demigod Kernel crash.

Oh word, this has its own thread now. For those of you having trouble, you can flash Artmod original, dump in a modified build.prop before first boot using aroma fm, and then add in the apn as soon as the phone boots via adb shell with "am start -n com.android.settings/com.android.settings.ApnSettings".
Also, I just use CWM. I don't know what all this Philz stuff is about.
As cross posted in engine95's thread, I am working on xposed mods to tweak the appearance to match the G3 a little better (starting with artmod ROM). Here's an example:

Battery
Have anyone noticed a significant battery optimization improvement or is it only me? When on stock rom or cm11 rom and I would forget to put my phone to charge it would be dead when I wake up despite the battery being on 70% before I went to bed. Same thing happened last night and I woke up to see my phone only lost 5% from 65% with this rom.

I agree with this. I was trying to test out a battery mod and I had to keep waiting and waiting for the battery to run down...not typical for this phone at all
How long does this one take to boot?
It flashed fine for me and is now at the LG boot animation but it has been for 12 minutes so far. I can see the animation still moving (occasional circling of the logo) so it's not frozen.
Any ideas?
