The EVO 3D was my last device and I did all the settings myself... But, the Epic Touch S2 seems a little trickier but, I think i'm just missing something simple!
All help is appreciated

MAKE SURE YOUR WEB IS WORKING PROPERLY (ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS) AS YOU CAN'T HAVE MMS WITHOUT WORKING INTERNET!!!!!
Remove/Uninstall any existing MMS composer you have attempted to setup. Also a good idea to remove any registry keys it may have created that are left behind after the uninstall.
1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24 from Verzion.
2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.
3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.
4: Add a new server with the following settings:
Server Name: metropcs
Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
Port number: 3128
Server address: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE OR "The internet"
Send limit: 399K
5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.
6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
DELETE KEY -> "X-VzW-MDN"
ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )

Try this as well
Use this guide to get MMS for Metro. Replace the mms.apk as directed. Do Not remove the telephony.db file(dont replace or delete). Go to voice Dialer, say open APN. Create MetroPcs apn with these settings(. For the record I used CleanGB Rom 1.0 - EI22 Modem.
If you should encounter any difficulty after rom flashes, make sure your prl is current. I ran across a problem earlier that stumped me for a bit, airplane mode would toggle on/off and became frustrated to no end.
MetroPCS APN Settings Guide:
These are settings provided to help users with MMS, and 3G.
It works with Most roms. Tested and Confirmed on Swagged Out Stock.
1.Flash an MMS script compatible with your rom. (Scripts created By Bloodykiller86)
MetroPCS Evo Sense 4.53 Based MMS Script v1.5
MetroPCS Sense 2.1/3.0 Hybrids MMS & Web Script v2
MetroPCS Evo AOSP Script v5
MetroPCS Evo MIUI MMS Script v1
2.Download APN Manager from the Android Market.
3.Create a new APN and enter these settings:
APN: internet
Proxy: wap.metropcs.net:3128
Port: 3128
UserName: Phone#@mymetropcs.com
Password: MSL code*
Server: wap.metropcs.net
MMSC: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
MMS Proxy: wap.metropcs.net
MMS Port: 3128
MCC: 310
MNC: 004
APN Type: MMS
4. Download Any Cut from the Android Market, then create an activity, apns on your homescreen.
Open apns choose MetroPCS and edit then authentication type to pap or chap. If no APN exists create a new one and fill it in with the info above.
-Make sure to enable created APN in APN Manager.
-Also if your MMS still isn't working make sure the metropcs.sh file from the script is in the correct place, if it is execute it. If It's not etract it from the script, and place it in the root of the internal memory, set permissions, and then execute it.

Thanks for the suggestions brianhot1 but the first suggestion is for window's mobile phones. I use to use that method back in the day and it does work but not for android's. Second method has correct apn settings but the modded mms.apk is for htc evo. It would not be compatible with a samsung epic touch as android version and and rom play a factor into making a modded mms.apk. Hopefully i will find a way to get it working soon tho.
Just get ur mms apk. Get apktool decompile nd edit mms.config

thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I got apktool now and i go to decompile the original mms.apk and it gives me an error message at the end that i need to install the specific framework for my phone. I used root explorer to get them onto my laptop. Just stuck on installing them now.
Flashed tablets before, but never a phone to switch carriers. I have my eyes on the same solution being discussed here - Samsung Epic Touch 4G on MetroPCS. Is the solution Brian provided the standard steps needed to flash any android device or does it differ between specific models?

Hey can't I just make an app for it?
You using Eclipse you can just make a messaging app.
Wouldn't I just be able to add the MetroPCS APN settings to it?

So I found this mms fix for another type of phone and tested it on my Wildfire S marvelc (VM USA). The solution has fixed the mms problem that I have found on CM9 ROMs. I have only tried this on CM9 Alpha 8 but it should work on ParanoidAndroid and other CM ROMs. If developers could incorporate this into the build.prop files, it would be great and save noobs like me some time =P.
Instructions:
- Using a file explorer such as Root Explorer, go to /system/build.prop
- Make sure the system is mounted as writable.
- Open build.prop with the built-in text editor.
- Add the 4 lines listed below that correspond with your provider. I don't think it matters where you add the 4 lines so you could add it at the end of the file. I could be wrong about this so I hope someone more knowledgeable can verify this. I added the lines right under the APN/MMS section of the build.prop file.
VM USA:
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=311490
ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Virgin Mobile US
gsm.operator.alpha=Virgin Mobile US
gsm.operator.numeric=311490

*I only listed two providers but if you have another one, visit the link below in the credits to get your information.
- Save the file and then reboot the phone.
- Enjoy MMS!
*I did not make this fix and am just posting it in this section.

When did you get the error code? From trying to send a MMS? I'm using CM9 Alpha 8 by dudeman1996. I only added the lines and then saved the file then restarted my phone. When I saved the file, Root Explorer automatically made a back up file (.bak). That's all you have to do, nothing else. I never used the MMSfix.zip file in the link I left in the credits section.
I added the 4 lines after the MMS APN section so it looks like this:
# Modify MMS APN retry timer from 5s to 2s.
ro.gsm.2nd_data_retry_config = max_retries=3, 2000, 2000, 2000
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=311490

I'm on a recent build I compiled myself (slightly newer than Alpha 8). I just added the 4 lines. It should have worked just as well as Alpha 8, as I compiled this just the other day.
I didn't flash any zip. Just added the four lines. I'll try again.
Ok someone has to know how to fix or get around this issue. Installed (paranoid rom) Jelly Bean on my epic touch that i flashed over from sprint to boost mobile and when i dial *#*#3282#*#* lets me view but when i go to edit type in msl number and gives a modem error so i cannot change my mmsc address to get my pic messaging working. I have tried all of the jellybean roms with same issue, tried all the modems also. ICS works fine to edit mmsc address.
my mms has never worked on any jb or aosp based roms. i always use this fix, ill paste below, to get mine working. i use method #1. maybe this will help

Same Problem
I have the E4GT on Virgin Mobile also. I love the Dirty Unicorn 4.3 Rom but I have the same problem I cant get MMS to work. Here is what I am doing. I am using the FJ12 Modem.
1. Wipe data and factory reset, cache, and dalvik cache.
2. Flash the Dirty Unicorn Rom.
3. Reboot into the rom.
4. Reboot into Recovery.
5. Flash GAPPs.
These are the fixes I have tried.
I open APNs and add the Virgin Mobile APNs. This is what I am using:
Name: Virgin Mobile
APN: Sprint
Proxy: <not Set>
Port:<not Set>
User Name: Sprint
Password: *
Server: <not Set>
MMSC:h t t p : / / m m s c . v m o b l . c o m : 8 0 8 0 / m m s ? (without the spaces)
MMS Proxy: 205.239.233.136
MMS Port: 81
MCC: 310
MNC: 00
APN Type: default,supl,mms
I then go to menu and hit save. The original Sprint APNs are there but the APNs I entered are not there.
I have also tried flashing the VMD710MMS+VisualVoicemailFix
However I am still unable to get MMS to work.
Edit:
I tried the Go SMS Fix also - that did not work.
I also noticed the my roaming settings wont stick. I am in an area where I must roam to get 3G data
I am having the same problem, although I opted for the GO SMS fix since I already use it. I will try the first set of instructions when I have time later and report back.
Edit:
Tried both ways and no dice.
Additionally, I have tried the MMS/Visual Voicemail Fix and it only causes a system process on my phone to stop working.
Any ideas?
I'm going to be trying this out a little later to see if it works just wanted to share it to see if it helps anyone

MMS Proxy: 205.239.233.136

Then I downloaded Roam Control ($4.00) google it (not available on playstore)
I set Roam Control to Automatic

How did you do this?
Bounty thread?
I've tried a bunch of stuff from several different threads, including just overwriting the APN xml file installed with the ROM with the xml file from the Virgin Mobile VisualVoicemail + MMS fix, which worked on the last 4.2 release, and I still can't get it to work!
If queendd gets back to me and that doesn't work I'm thinking about starting a bounty thread for this. Would anyone else be interested?
I for one would be willing to throw down a few bucks if it meant being able to use this ROM and having MMS working properly.

I used the Voice Dial app and Spoke "Open APNs"
or
If you have Nova Laucher >
Long press homescreen and choose shortcuts, then activities.
Scroll down the list to Settings.
Expand Settings tab and choose APNs.
This will put the shortcut on your homescreen.
Choose the above mentioned items and change them to what is listed above.
*Remember I also had to install the Roam Control app to make this work. (roamctrl . c o m)
Tried the steps above and bought the roaming app. It's been 10 minutes and still nothing received yet to me or my wife.
I should mention that it doesnt let me save the APN settings after I've entered them in either. And it won't save it manually entering them into the APN XML file in /sys/etc either - something to do with root I think. I'm going to try flashing it as a zip file and see if that works and I'll report back later when I have time.

I noticed that after flashing the MMS fix I could not save new apn settings. After a clean flash of DU and GAPPS I was able to save new APNs. The MMS fix makes the phone process fc also. Also, I would be interested in a bounty thread. I love this ROM and the broken MMS is the only deal breaker for me.

Glad to see you guys found a fix... I've been looking everywhere for you guys..Lol.
FYI..I did come across some info...that changing certain APN settings will cause the APN not to be saved. It was the port number in most cases.
Just don't change port number and save the APN...then go back and change it..or so I read...
Also...I only ever change my mmsc url .... But I'm boost...running sprint ROMs. Might make a difference...

I had the same problem. Seems it does not automatically detect the carrier id. We have to insert it into the MCC and MNN manually
To get the id of the carrier:
Dial in the phone *#*#197328640#*#*, will get a menu of service, choose the followin options
[1] DEBUG SCREEN
[5] GPRS INFORMATION
FInally, look for the PLMN info, in my case is:
PLMN 708-2(0)
So:
MCC: 708
MNC: 020
with this data "Save" feature works
I skipped from 10.1 straight to 11, but none of the ROMs I've run ever had an issue detecting MCC/MNC. I found it interesting because my carrier gives those on their website, as if the phone isn't normally able to figure it out on its own.

I had to make quite a few changes to the build.prop file, then added the APN information to get it to work properly.
I have been running it as a daily for about 3 days. Aside from some stock apps not working, the ROM has been great.
I did have gps issues at first, had to flash back to stock, then reload the ROM to fix those. Did have a moment yesterday where I lost all my cell signal, reboot fixed that.

Did you modify the build.prop before flashing?
I also flashed mine using TWRP not CWM.

Boot is unlocked, I don't know what it means Mako unlocked, but I have unlocked and rooted.
I actually have used philz for a long time and that isn't a problem. I can actually flash the Artmod from the E975 just fine and it boots, but of course nothing data related worked, only WiFi. When I try to install this I just get the Demigod Kernel crash.

Thats strange then. Sorry wish I could of helped more but i do not know what is causing it. Have you tried copying the build.props from my download link and replacing the one in the E975 zip? See if thatll work.
Oh word, this has its own thread now. For those of you having trouble, you can flash Artmod original, dump in a modified build.prop before first boot using aroma fm, and then add in the apn as soon as the phone boots via adb shell with "am start -n com.android.settings/com.android.settings.ApnSettings".
Also, I just use CWM. I don't know what all this Philz stuff is about.
As cross posted in engine95's thread, I am working on xposed mods to tweak the appearance to match the G3 a little better (starting with artmod ROM). Here's an example:

So just to be clear here, stock 4.4.2 LG ROMs are just about good to be daily drivers for us Sprint folks, or almost?

When I would flash with twrp or cwm I would get some permission error so the rom wouldn't flash. But when I flashed with philz its booted and no permission error. Just saying
Battery
Have anyone noticed a significant battery optimization improvement or is it only me? When on stock rom or cm11 rom and I would forget to put my phone to charge it would be dead when I wake up despite the battery being on 70% before I went to bed. Same thing happened last night and I woke up to see my phone only lost 5% from 65% with this rom.

I agree with this. I was trying to test out a battery mod and I had to keep waiting and waiting for the battery to run down...not typical for this phone at all
How long does this one take to boot?
It flashed fine for me and is now at the LG boot animation but it has been for 12 minutes so far. I can see the animation still moving (occasional circling of the logo) so it's not frozen.
Any ideas?
Too long, try again
