Accessing ##DATA# on MIUI - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Evo 4G on Boost but when I flash a non-sense ROM I can't access ##DATA# from the dialer to change the MMS to myboostmobile.com, is there any other way to change it without a sense rom? I tried using a sense rom to change it then flash to MIUI but it resets it back to the original URL. TIA

Which android version you have?
this right here......is my.. pretty boy swag!

My understanding is you have to be running a Sense ROM for those functions to work.

You're exactly right. :good:

Use voice dial and say "open apn settings". It will pop up an make sure what you said, but it should work if you said it right

AOSP only, not Sense. You can of course try it though, most likely will fail or cause FCs to the point where you can't do anything LOL.
It worked fine on Virtuous, however the phone button gave me
"this application isnt currently installed on your phone"
Which is understandable because of the HTC dialer, thanks for the upload though.
Ya sorry I should of specified

That's correct, Craig. AOSP ROMs don't support these codes.

Flash to a non GB rom, make the changes, flash back to GB rom, because your changing radio settings they should stick through a flash no problem

are you using an asop rom?
if not and you are just using a 2.2 sense rom you need to get the 2.1 epst.apk then copy the file into system apps then reinstall it.
all should work after that.
hope this helps.
I have to use 2.2. bc the 2.3 I can't pop the epst menu.. ill try the 2.1 epst.apk if that work.. and i omly need this in order to change the MMS server.. everything else work, and when u go from 2.2 to a diff rom or to a 2.3 i understan that u have to do a full swipe.. but im going to try with out the swype see if that work and ill report back

You obviously do not read others posts...
@OP
I tried to insert them as system apps, but on Sammy ROM, the phone functionality is gone when deletein the original SecPhone.apk. So I'm pretty sure that it does not work that easy.

What posts should I read? and why don't you help the OP then?
As for dialer replacement apps, they don't replace everything (most often only dialing pad and/or contacts list) and often are unstable.
I replaced secmms.apk with aosp. Works fine. Had to name it same and reboot. Did you try that with dialler?

I think modaco kitchen has the choice of including ICS Dialer...

1. He wanted a solution without a whole CM9 ROM, you told him he could install such a ROM. Questions? No...
2. I told him that the stock CM9/AOKP Dialer app does not work in Sammy ROMS.
Thats kinda help imho.
@OP
I tried ExDialer from market with ICS theme. Very nice. But the original Dialer app from ROM needs to be active in ROM. Without it=No phone connectivity.

[Q] Change Carrier Name on Stock Rom

Okay so i am wondering is there a way to change the carrier name on a stock or custom ROM, Ive already tried the QPST, and CDMA WS Methods and neither work weather it be the stock ROM or a custom ROM.
.
On the stock ROM the carrier name is blank when in CDMA Mode, except when i switch to GSM only it shows T-Mobile, and on all of the custom roms it only shows my MCC and MNC ie 310012.... is there a way to modify this that i haven't thought of?
Do you want to change the banner?
Or do you want to change your network provider?

yes i am looking to change the carrier name on the lock screen and notification curtain, i've already Provisioned the Device to Cricket....seeing how their 3G is faster than VZW in my area...

yea i would prefer to do it on a stock ROM, due to the fact that most of the custom roms Ive tried don't have the ability to switch to GSM on the fly

It depends on your ROM. With CM7 access is under
Settings - CyanogenMod settings - interface - status bar tweaks
I found a way to do it in terminal emulator on my old OG Droid a long time ago. Good keyword for your search is "carrier banner"
Good luck!

[Q] Keep EPST settings when I flash rom

Hello, I built a custom ROM, but, unfortunately, it doesn't save the EPST settings. I know that the secret menu ##3282# is a part of the radio, but there are certain changes in WiMax that need to be carried on, when the ROM is flashed. Any help?
Thank you.
How about a little more info. To use epst you need to be on a sense base Rom with a sense dialer. Also if you set it with one Rom it does not change when you flash another Rom.

Hey jlmancuso,
I use the sense ROM and dialer. I am able to access the settings ON the phone, but not able to save them into ROM. I was wondering where in the ROM should I do the tweaking to change the WiMax settings permanently?

EPST settings are not saved in the rom, if you change them on one rom, you can flash another rom and they will stay the same, so if you set them on a sense rom, you can flash a aosp rom and the settings will not change.
