@OP
I tried to insert them as system apps, but on Sammy ROM, the phone functionality is gone when deletein the original SecPhone.apk. So I'm pretty sure that it does not work that easy.

What posts should I read? and why don't you help the OP then?
As for dialer replacement apps, they don't replace everything (most often only dialing pad and/or contacts list) and often are unstable.

I replaced secmms.apk with aosp. Works fine. Had to name it same and reboot. Did you try that with dialler?

I think modaco kitchen has the choice of including ICS Dialer...

1. He wanted a solution without a whole CM9 ROM, you told him he could install such a ROM. Questions? No...
2. I told him that the stock CM9/AOKP Dialer app does not work in Sammy ROMS.
Thats kinda help imho.
@OP
I tried ExDialer from market with ICS theme. Very nice. But the original Dialer app from ROM needs to be active in ROM. Without it=No phone connectivity.

it is possible, someone would need to modify the phone.apk and Contacts.Apk to Skin it, as Far as getting the Miui dialler Functionality. not enturely sure.. MIUI is coming for SGS2 soon though, there is a thread on the development Pages
Edit : heres the link to the ROM in development. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130951

Maybe you could even extract the phone.apk from that rom and insert it into your current. Don't know if it is actually possible, but i gues in theory it is...

Doubt that would work, MIUI is based on AOSP firmware and not Samsungs android firmware. As a result doubt the Apks would work, not 100% sure though

Yeah, that's true, good point. I was thinking of the old Desire days where it was possible to use the MIUI dialer on other (AOSP) roms. I didn't consider differences in the frameworks...
Applications Go Contacts, Go Dialer and Go SMS are very, very similar (some might say too similar). I'm using them till we get MIUI on our beloved sgs2.

[Q] T9 dialer request like in CM9

How to get the T9 dialer like in the CM9 roms. were you type number and the contact appear
Without installing new ROM
like here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399238
I pulled these from the CM9 ROM in the Development section. I've tried it on my phone (I'm running AOKP) and it works for me. Push these 3 apks to your /system/app directory. Remember to backup the old ones incase this doesn't work for you.
i seen a different thread on this.
but didnt work for everybody.
will it work on revolution rom?

Thanks silow! I'm running the ics-deck-evo [alpha1] ROM on my HTC Evo 4G, and used your APKs as a drop-in replacement, which work perfectly!
Tried to make a flashable zip to save everyone some time in the future. Anyone care to test? Nandroid first!

hello mate. I believe u can't use samsung stock dialer and contacts in AOKP/AOSP roms. it needs samsung touchwiz interface, so it won't work on AOKP/AOSP roms.
By the way stock dialer and MMS app have a lot of features more than Google app

still a noob
Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there a ROM that I can still use my stock phone and contacts app?
I suppose my #1 reason for a new ROM is battery life and faster speeds. In other words, if an AOKP ROM doesn't support these apps, what will? Is it simply a Touchwiz compatibility issue? Not a copyright issue with Samsung's own apps?

If u are using AOKP rom, then u will only get AOKP stuffs. u will not get samsung dialer and contact apps. that's the way it is, mate. u can't simply have what u want, but this is how AOKP roms are made. I believe there is Touchwiz compatibilty issue and no devs has been ported these into AOKP roms yet.. for battery life, u may want to check what apps is running on the background that may cause u battery drain. make sure when u exit any apps, press the back button until u see the main homescreen. do not simply press the home button because that will cause u apps not exiting properly. it will still run on the background thus, causing u battery drain. look here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 I use this on my device and has help me a lot.

You can use it, if you're using one and only Stock and Stock based ROMs.
If AOKP/AOSP doesn't supports means only Stock ROM can.
It's not only Touchwiz compatibility issue, it depends on several things such as framework, system UI & few lib,XML permission files etc.
There is copyright for Samsung apps. Including it with AOSP doesn't make an infringement I believe. More importantly Android is an Open Source

Stock ICS SMS

Anyone have an APK for it?
*Or if the Jellybean one will work on ICS I'll try that as well*
I am tired of the touchwiz one and want a stock apk.. But don't want to go full stock because of the other features.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728308
Explains how to replace TouchWiz apps with stock ICS. I will say I have not done this on the H9 update though. I do not think these work on Jellybean based ROMs either. I tried to install the pure ICS messenger app in a stock based jellybean rom and it did not work.

On a side note ... me messing around after I found a ICS APK... putting it into the app folder with a root explorer and then rebooted seemed to work..
I didn't do anything but that heh
Only thing now is I don't see a option to turn it black for the background ..

That is what the thread I linked explains how to do. It gives APK for most ICS apps and explains the problems that users have ran into with them and how to back up the stock TouchWiz apps if you want to restore them. I have no idea how you would go about changing the background color but there is probably information in the Themes and Apps section of the forums.

[SOLVED] Stock mail and messaging apps / CM10 messaging

Can anyone point me in the right direction for where I can find or extract apks for the stock Android 4.1 mail/exchange app along with the messaging app? I've given it a day but I'm not a big fan of Samsung's. The calendar is pretty bad too...
I tried flashing the CM10 messaging app but it didn't work, I assume there are other dependencies that it's missing, though it's supposed to work on stock JB devices. Has anyone had any luck with it?

google "GAPPS" for stock google android apps or you can google 4.2 GAPPS for the lastest 4.2 version of GAPPS
CM10 apps only works on CM10 based ROMs, all of us are using Samsung based ROM's.
Cm messaging on the market.

Hmmm, yeah I see its not there anymore.
Alright this was a bit of a pain but I figured it out. Here is the stock Exchange app that worked, and here is the stock MMS application (threading is working). For posterity I've also attached them as uploads.
Uninstall the existing apps using Titanium Backup or by manually nuking the MMS, SecEmail, and SecExchange apk and .odex files from /system/apps and then flash these via TWRP or CWM. Next is up is contacts and calendar
CM10 Messenger App
This CM10 mms apk from the Note 1's Liquid Smooth ROM seems to work flawlessly. Popups and threading are all working correctly. I extracted from the ROM itself, but here's the apk itself.
Same deal, nuke the stock mms, move this to /system/apps/ and install.

Yes I too am having fc's while sending mms. Went back to other attached mms.zip and works perfect.
sent using gNote II.
Confirmed I also have force close when sending an mms.Bummer.
This one works flawlessly so far. SMS, MMS, Emoji's, etc. Enjoy!

Unbelievable, I must have tried ten different versions. This one works flawlessly - thank you so much!
Edit: nevermind I just realized it's stock and not the CM10 version with popups. I think I'll roll stock with the SMS Popup program though and call it a day. Thanks again.
