Hi guys, I thought I'd start a thread to ask people what apps they found that sucks battery.... I'd start by saying Facebook app and Viber...
They are annoying and drain my Note 2's battery really quick...
What app/s have you noticed that drains your battery quicker ?
If you really want to know, without speculating, just download this free app called "Carat". It's like a one stop shop for power consumption analysis & optimization.
And also, keep an eye on the usage breakdown from time to time in Settings>Battery.
Many apps stay in background and continue to eat battery, mainly news apps, even if you quit them. I go to setting, advanced parameter and set the limit for background process to 4.
Latitude and BeWeather Free version.

Regarding wakelocks, maps and bad wifi connections put on the longest shows, and can be quite annoying. Especially with Google now, network locator in maps can use lots of juice when in standby. Disable gnow or location services to fix.
Wifi wakelocks often have to be resolved by configuring your router. Disabling n mode altogether, or multi cast or wmm, often has a good effect on wifi wakelocks.

Want battery life?
ok there are many apps in the market available that promises better battery life, but really it doesn't.
simple ways and precaution should me made . NO NEED OF ANY APP.
i personally installed Juice Defender -worked but its very irritating as it disconnects data connectivity again n reconnect which in turn uses more battery life THINK LOGICAL.
All battery savior apps uses the same architecture , but the real motive is not achieved.
USELESS
ok here are some LOGICAL WAYS to improve your android's battery life.
1> SHUT DOWN AUTO UPDATE APPS from GOOGLE PLAY
2> FREEZE MAPS and turn off LOCATION , no one cares where you are RIGHT NOW.
3> Disable Facebook , twitter, google+ .. in short all social network sync. AUTO SYNC uses Tons of battery life.
4> use >60% screen brightness at home. STAND BY SCREEN IS A POWER SUCKING MONSTER.
5> Avoid using VIBRATION, i know this point is not acceptable but vibration uses 20% of batter in TOTAL.
6>Set Screen TIMEOUT in 30 sec. If available >30sec.
7>Avoid playing HD games, HELLO ITS A PHONE..NOT A COMPUTER.. keep the phone to calls , sms, and internet.
SPEAKING OF THE INTERNET.
8> USE THE DEFAULT BROWSER, Opera Mini, UCWEB and others are smooth and swift and also promise to save data but consumes twice the battery power as compared to the regular DEFAULT browser.
9>Shut down data connectivity when not in use [COMMON EVERY ONE KNOWS.... BUT YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN MANY TIMES].
10>ANTIVIRUS consumes a-lot of battery power though they promise that uses less power. AHH RUBISH , if so do the AV app run on solar power?? HELLO MY PHONE HAS NO SOLAR POWER. I am not saying to kick your antivirus away but, use a pro version of any antivirus. SLIGHTLY LESS POWER SUCKERS AS COMPARED TO FREE VERSIONS.

In addition to what debanikonline said, try regularly clearing the cache of some of your apps.

Yeah, "App Cache Cleaner" is a nice app.. It automatically clears cache after a custom time interval...

Screen Brightness
For 99% of users, the display is the #1 consumer of battery, which makes sense because you have a giant 4.65 inch 720p display that needs lots of power to run. The lower you set your brightness, the more battery you save. For a person like me, 50% brightness is usually the highest I use. Colors look clear, the screen is plenty bright to read, and yet it's not too high. If you want to save battery however, turn down the brightness to around 30%. If you're really in a pinch and need to save some juice, you can even turn it down all the way to 0%, but I would recommend keeping it around the 30-35% mark for general usage. In my experience, standard auto brightness doesn't work too well for me. It's slow to respond and either cranks the brightness way up or way down inappropriately. However, some ROMs like CM10 allow you to modify the backlight settings, which works quite well.
Maps/Latitude
This tip is a little more straightforward. If you use Google Now, you are using Maps location services which drain battery. It's always looking for your location to give you the latest weather, let you know about the cool sushi restaurant down the street, and other neat stuff. However, it needs to know where you are, so it's constantly polling the network for location data. So, shut off Google Now completely, or if you're like me and love it, just shut off the parts of it that you don't need, like Places and Traffic. I saved the big one for last. Latitude. The silent battery killer. If you're like me and you never use Latitude ever, guess what, it's probably still using your battery, so you need to shut it off. Simply open your Maps app, hit menu, then settings, then location settings, then disable location reporting and location history. Your battery drain should decrease significantly. I check this often because it seems to reenable on its own sometimes. Yikes.
Radios
WiFi is pretty fast at your house. Way better than 1 Bar of 3G. But when you leave, you leave the WiFi on, thinking it's no big deal. However, WiFi is one of the biggest battery killers, along with the other radios. So remember, just shut stuff off when you aren't using it. No navigation today? GPS goes off. Not using your headset? No bluetooth. Haven't invested in those fancy NFC tags? Shut that off, too. A big one is LTE. If you live in a 3G only area, what good is it to keep LTE on? It's just draining your battery. Turning Data off can save you money and battery. If you aren't one of the lucky ones still on an unlimited data plan, shutting data off will stop apps from using data in the background, and it'll also save a bunch of battery. However, you won't know when fnartsy123 liked your Instagram photo.
Apps
There are some apps that constantly use system resources and keep your device awake, even when you aren't using it. A major offender is Facebook. While a big update is rumored, the apps frankly sucks right now. It's slow and it drains your battery. Stick to the mobile website, as honestly, it works better now. That's the main one, but there are plenty of other. To identify them, I recommend an awesome app like Better Battery Stats or Appsucker from Google Play. They'll tell you what app is stealing your juice, and you know to remove it.
Auto Sync
One of the main reasons to own a smartphone is to stay connected, and I don't want to change that. I would recommend you shut off syncing for services and apps that you don't use. Check your Google account settings. You don't need or want all of your selfies to end up on Google+? Shut off instant upload. If you use Chrome instead of the AOSP browser, shut off sync for that. Go through and make sure you only are syncing what you actually use. Also, check your apps. Do you need to know when you have a new tweet? If so, leave it on. If not, shut it off. Furthermore, if your battery is in the red, shut off autosync altogether to save some serious juice.
Good tips, especially turning off google now, its useless and even worse its a huge battery hog.
Nice article mate. Very useful tips. Good job.

Great tips, but Id just like to make some additions:
Use Y5 to turn on/off wifi based on your location
Use Tasker to set a schedule to set auto-sync on for 2 minutes at 30 minute intervals.
nice guide, thanks
Just to let you know that you can keep the gps setting on. It only uses power if you are using the GPS. So yes if you have like google now checking for your location it will use power but if you don't have anything automatically using GPS then you can keep it on and it won't use battery.
Another one that I use, i if you are root, i change de voltatge settings to lower value or turn down the speed

Maybe, but I personally leave voltage on smart reflex. Works as good as or better than undervolting
Why only 5? There are plenty more you can use.

Hello.
In my previous phone - HTC Sensation, when not use, battery takes 1-3% for an hour or even two. I buy Note 2 and I heard about great battery life (even with screen on - 6h-8h). But in my opinion it discharge faster than my previous phone, even when not in use. I post screenshoots, and can somebody told me where is the problem?

I think you should stop locus pro and turn off gps, just for tried if it's that drains battery
I would suggest an app called Greenify but it shouldn't be a solution. However, what I can suggest it for you to go into settings/data and disable the apps that tend to connect to the net in the background. Furthermore, install BBatteryStat and look for partial wake lock and see what apps keep waking your device. Once you understand what's using up resources you can mention them here and we can help you solve accordingly.

I use Greenify and BBS - see screenshots which i post. Maybe FB Chat is problem, because my last phone kill service in some time (because of ram), note 2 not kill, and app is always running as service.
Hello Guys and Gals,
Its been awhile since i have been on here. But i have been very satisfied with my Note4. However. It had come to a point that carrying 4 batteries with me to make it through the day was too much.
Here i am . Finally upgraded to the 8+ and overall. I am very dissapointed.
So. i would like some input on what changes you have done, as well as apps running, how much you use the device, your daily connections. and so on.
i have:
Bluetooth always on, connected to my Gear S2
Location services always on
I am a big social media junky, on FB, and IG, not too much of Snapchat.
I use Line to talk to my group that i game with
I play Transformers Earth Wars, about 15 minutes at a time a few times a day.
Do not use bixby
Screen display is set at Amoled Cinema, HD resolution, auto brightness is turned off stays between 30-60%
Very Rarely use WiFi
Google apps do not auto Update
USB Debugging
3 gmail accounts linked, sync is off
Anything else just ask,
So after my 8hr shift of work, my phone is at about 40%, my Note4 on would almost make the whole day, i would get to about 20%, then i would switch batteries.
I am not happy with the battery. Just seems like for no reason it is draining.
Comment below, let me know your setting, impressions, and so on.......... Maybe im doing something wrong and dont realize it.
Well your first problem is all the social media apps, pretty much all of them just destroy battery life. When your not using those apps I would put them to sleep.
You need to monitor which apps are draining the battery. You can do this through the stock device mait. app. Once you find out which apps are causing the drain we can go from there.
I use standard mode, screen on WQHD, sync always on, all data no wifi, screen at 50 % or higher. No social media apps, I use the browser for those.
Here's some screen shots of battery life, this is and average battery cycle, I have reached over 9hrs of Screen on time (SOT) and 1.5 days in previous cycles.

Believe it or not sometimes that consumes more battery life having to open the app every time vs just letting it run in the background. Probably not true with social media apps but it's worth a try. You may also want to try a package disabler app from the play store to disable apps you don't use that run in the background. I use BK package disabler.

Hello guys,
i've reinstalled from scratch my s22 to try to boost my battery performance. Installed the last update and all the apps that i need. First battery cycle 6 hours and half of SOT yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
But than comes the crappy part :/ after a full charge from zero with phone in shut down mode i've turned on it and.... almost 4 hours of sot.
WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Anyone have found the same problem?!?
How can it be possible to go from 6.30 to 4 with the same type of use?!?
DAMN S22!!!
All Samsung's need to be optimized for best performance. 4 hr SOT means you're burning up that battery too!
Turn off all global power management ie adaptive battery. Find the power hogs and deal with each on a case by case basis.
Cloud apps including Google backup.
Keep display brightness on manual and below 50% when possible.
Disable Google, Samsung, app and carrier feedback. Turn off Google Firebase.
Get rid of all installed social media trashware.
Try temporarily disabling Google play Services and see if this helps much; Google backup, Gmail and Playstore are dependencies.
Manually close out apps like Brave browser that insist on running in the background.
Use tap on AOD.
Kill wifi if you don't need it.
Turn off locations when not needed.

I just turned off Adaptive Battery and now the phone is just flying through the apps. Yes, Twitter and co. can still have the occasional hick-up, but it is now significantly improved. I was about to sell the Ultra and already got an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but this is quite literally a game changer. Thank you, my man. Time to get the iPhone back to the store.
I haven't heard of the Brave issue. It doesn't seem to run in the background on my phone. And I don't know why it would if Chrome doesn't. Can you point me to a thread or something about Brave? I use it on all my PCs everyday and quite like it. And on my Kindle Fire, where running background apps are usually very apparent. Have I just not noticed on my phone for some reason?

It does on my Note 10+/Pie. I can see it doing it on the firewall. So I close it out when not using it. May be just my configuration. Lol it doesn't need run at startup permissions.
Otherwise it's bulletproof, which is why I use it.
No malware ever slipped through it as it and the the N10+ are configured. It's been well tested...
