I was wondering if there was a prI I could use that would allow me to roam on Cricket instead of Verizon. The reason being is that I currently have tried all of the prl's I could find and I always get put on Verizon 1x. My sprint service is horrible until 3am then it is average. I get a great signal with the Verizon tower but the speed is still very slow. My wife has an Epic 4g also but it is flashed to cricket and she gets amazing 3g speeds where I live. I would just flash my phone to Cricket but I am very close to my upgrade and I am probably moving back to the city in 4 months or so, where I get great Sprint 3g and 4g speeds. I've searched everywhere. I hope someone has a suggestion for me other than getting WiFi lol. I just can't afford it until I move.

Since switching from tmobile I notice that the sprint network is noticeably slower with 3g and 4g speeds. Will any ROM or any setting help Boost speeds and or connectivity?

There is a network fix zip somewhere around here. I know its included in StrongSteves Rom but honestly Sprint is just slow and there really isn't anything imitation can do that is going to dramatically increase your speeds. Welcome to Sprint. Lol

Okay so on my wife's epic 4g running cm9 under the settings there is a 4g section and her toggle wimax works. On this phone on the same rom I don't have that option. And the wimax toggle doesn't work. Is this just temporary or does this phone really not get wimax. Cuz I don't get lte where I live and 3g is so slow.

Yes, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have WiMax, its not just your ROM. It has EVDO (3G) and LTE (4G). Since LTE isn't even starting to launch for a couple more months, expect to keep waiting.

What speed are you going on 4g? I about to sign up for sprint from boost and was thinking s2 or s3. I'm in Baltimore and I know lte isn't here yet so I'm waiting to see. My deposit is 50 bucks and a s2 is $50 and a s3 is $150

St Louis on a s2(4G wimax). Personally, I'd get an s3 and wait for lte though.

My 4G speeds has decreased greatly here in Delaware, I used to be able to get speeds as high as in my sig (10-12mb down on my OG Evo), but since I had my 3D & now this phone its much lower, but right now I'm getting better speeds at home where I used to get horrible speeds as posted in this pic. One more thing, get the GS3 cuz Bmore will have LTE hopefully within the month or sooner.

Are all of you guys on WiMax? Wtf haha... I get like 3.5 Mbps MAX in Chicago
The 4-8 Mbps are 4g speeds. 8Mbps when close to tower. The latest test is from somewhere I never get 4g. Tests in columbus, ohio
Here are mine in St. Paul, MN
Here's my result from 4G testing in Boston:

These are mostly from my house out in the burbs or nearby in evening. Also one test is 3g on there. 4g speeds will vary quite a bit. I get lower when I'm in Austin on weekdays.
No more wimax for me but I used to get a good 10-12mbps
But 3g is decent now it was unbearable a month ago

My life for Aiur
No 4G service here in the USVI. Service has also been horrible lately. About 8-20Kbs during peak hours and 50-90Kbs during off peak hours. It unbearable and makes the smartphone experience suck compared to the continental US. The voice service also sounds like I am under water on over 50% of St. Croix.

For me in good areas I get up to 2 mbps down on 3g and up to 13 mbps down on 4g.
I can't get 4G LTE to connect with my GNEX. When I was on stock I got 4G LTE, since I rooted and started using ROMs I haven't been able to get 4G. I switch the data switch to LTE/CDMA and never get 4G. I tried updating my profile, prl, radio, everything. I get decent 3G speeds but just wanna know the reason why I don't get 4G. Is it the Roms? Or..
BTW I'm in San Antonio, Texas and we do have 4G LTE here.

Well wasn't running it then but am now. Make a nandroid and flash jellybro? Try that see if that works. If so then CNA has an LTE issue.

Will do that right now. Got time.
Hopefully it's just CNA.

The lte towers in Texas are wonky as hell. I've had 4g on and off at my apt since July 10th or so but it never stays on. Search the market for an app called Sensorly. It is the most accurate LTE map I've come across. BTW I think sprint users should start getting on their asses about this. The whole reason I upgraded from epic is because they promised it in Dallas etc by the middle of July. But you can tell by lookin at the true coverage area that its just a joke to them.

I thought all at least most of San Antonio would have 4G LTE. Sprint 3G speeds are fine, but every other main carrier has 4G. Sprint's slacking. On the coverage map for the 4G LTE all of San Antonio is highlighted. So untrue. I know it just launched and is still kinda new, but i haven't even gotten a chance to use it or test it.
We're from the same city! I thought I should just trow that in there! Flash back to stock and if it keeps happening just go to a sprint store

And wooooooooooo, Go Spurs Go!
Sprint 4g LTE is working here in Houston
~Samsung Galaxy SIII (SPH-L710) - Blazer ROM v1.6 - TWRP~
I'm saying its not on at all.. but the coverage isn't anywhere near what it should be. At least in the dfdub.
I have a epic touch 4g flashed to cricket and I was on wondering why I get 1x on custom ROMs but stock ROMs are just fine. And when I do get 3g the data acts weird and cuts on and off.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It might not be that you are even on 3G but sprint has this little habit of lying on their stock ROMs by making it so it always shows 3G even when connected to 1x. The devs on xda have made it so that in ROMs shows the true connection such 1x/3G.
A good way to verify while on stock is to go look on the about phone to see what you are connected to or use netmonitor/speedtest to see what connection you are on.

I had a ROM they showed real speeds and I was on 3g. The ROM was basically a slightly modified stock though....

another welcome to sprint thread.. my speeds are always at 1x no matter what rom/modem im on because of my area
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Well first crickets 3g doesn't work very well on sprint phones, if you want real 3g you need a cricket phone or be on Sprint.
Data does work on touchwiz roms though, and if you want aosp you have to flash a fix to get it to work on those, but it won't be even close to 3g unless your lucky.
If you don't have the fix its here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479175 use the ics one for ics and jb.
I've gotten 1.6 Mb/s download speed on aosp jb with Cricket, although average during the day is more like 800Kb/s. Area, PRL, signal strength, etc play a huge role as well.
