Since switching from tmobile I notice that the sprint network is noticeably slower with 3g and 4g speeds. Will any ROM or any setting help Boost speeds and or connectivity?

There is a network fix zip somewhere around here. I know its included in StrongSteves Rom but honestly Sprint is just slow and there really isn't anything imitation can do that is going to dramatically increase your speeds. Welcome to Sprint. Lol

Just updated OTA to ek02 and am experiencing slower 3g speeds... with and without the tweak. Anyone else noticing this or is it just me?

For me with update, 3g is same, but 4g is almost double.

If they get any slower they'll stop completely (at least for me).

I'm experiencing slower speeds and my 4G connectivity got even worse...even did a profile and prl update after the update and it didn't help.

Sprint's 3G is stupid slow. It's completely unusable around here. For example, the Android Market. Most things say they are "starting to download" then they never do.
I did a speed test and my ping was like 900~1100+ with a download speed of 7~13kbps and an upload speed of 50~100kbps or so.
Seriously, 7~13kbps download?
The only reason I put up with this crap is I'm almost NEVER away from wireless. I work in the technologies field with full gig-network access on almost all the campuses I'm at threw out the day and 105mbit at home.

Wow, that is really slow. I don't have it that bad lol. But with that ping and those speeds, it seems like something is uploading constantly. That's the only time I've ever seen speed tests like that for me, while i was uploading songs to Google music. That's interesting.
As for the speed test tho, i feel there is an issue with the actually test and specifically our 3g. The reason i say this is because the speed test will give me a result of 40-50kB/s, but then i will download a torrent at like 150kB/s.... all in the same area. Very weird.

Sprints download speed for me is around .12kbs to .45kbs in good reception areas... in the same areas ATT gets 3.5mbs and Verizon is very stable with good reception and stable internet that is around 1.5 mbs... so ATT is wicked fast 3g but the reception and internet are both hit and miss as far as coverage goes. Where as Verizon may not be the fastest internet, they are well within my personal tolerance and needs... and their coverage surpasses ATT by a long haul in my area... notice i haven't mentioned sprint? That's because my download speeds on average are (like previously stated) between 10kbs and 50kbs at most! 50kbs is the fastest I've ever gotten with the speestest.net app! Don't even get me started on call reception.... I've honestly had more dropped calls in a month and a half then I've had with every other company combined throughout my life. End rant

I don't know, i'm getting ok download speeds ~ 6 Mbps but ridiculously slow upload speeds ~ 120-200kbps on full 4 bar signal
Coming from Amaze 4g week back, both these are really low...I used to have ~10Mbps d/l and 1-3mbps u/l in Boston, MA
It is all stock for now..I'm thinking of upgrading radio? Are you guys using some other radio then default..right now I have Baseband T989UVKL1
I'm using the stock radio.
You can try to use the blaze 4G modem just google it most people say it makes them get faster speeds, personally I don't. But I don't really need faster speeds ha.. I've already doubled the speed of my wifi

I'm running Tuesday with blaze modem. With blaze modem I consistently get 8mbps in okc. With stock radio I'd be lucky to break 2mbps

I flashed the Blaze modem, things improved, now i'm getting UL speeds of ~ 0.6-0.7mbps as I tested on few servers. Download speeds varies between 3-6mbps...A little better than stock button..
Its awful when compared what amaze used to pull in my same area...Its not about just the numbers either, I can notice the speeds in which the website load have quite increased too, on Amaze I preferred using 4g all the time as it used to beat my Wi-Fi speed , now its the opposite...guess its kinda hit and miss according to the area...I'm disappointed though, its my first day with this phone
I switched ROMs andmy speeds improved. some ROMs don't take to the data and speed tweaks. Coming from ddw to Ms bluray with blaze modem took me from 3mbs, to 11

Wow! Not sure what happened, but my speeds were just 1 (yes one) mbps download 2 weeks ago! But the ping is crazy high...
Edit: I always get invalid extension when trying to upload a screen shot with the app.. So here are my results:
Download: 16.5 mbps
Upload: 2.25 mbps
Ping: 765...

I was wondering if anyone else in a 4G area had sucky speeds today? Here's what I had today and I'm normally running between 6-10mbps. Today's speed tests ranged from 0.5-2mbps.
Okay where the heck are you at???? Its all a matter of location. Might be setting up lte.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I had wondered that myself. I live in Nashville and we're rumored to get LTE pretty soon, but that sucks for anyone with a WiMax phone that isn't up for an upgrade. I personally buy and resell phones all the time. I'll get whatever gets me the fastest speeds.
I live in Nashville too and I get both slow and fast speeds depending on if im at home or at church. It could be your location or towers

Alright so I've been looking all day and no luck. I've used prop modder, and several other methods to try and lift the throttling on my sprint gnex. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Are you looking for the Verizon PRL that Sprint folks are flashing in order to up there 3G speeds and get better signal in more areas?
If so the thread is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660740
....if this is not what you are looking for, I apologize.
On some aokp spin offs, such as black ice, there's an option that edits the build.prop to supposedly increase 3G speed.

Pretty sure that is for GSM. And Sprint data 3G probably wouldn't get much faster.

I have a epic touch 4g flashed to cricket and I was on wondering why I get 1x on custom ROMs but stock ROMs are just fine. And when I do get 3g the data acts weird and cuts on and off.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It might not be that you are even on 3G but sprint has this little habit of lying on their stock ROMs by making it so it always shows 3G even when connected to 1x. The devs on xda have made it so that in ROMs shows the true connection such 1x/3G.
A good way to verify while on stock is to go look on the about phone to see what you are connected to or use netmonitor/speedtest to see what connection you are on.

I had a ROM they showed real speeds and I was on 3g. The ROM was basically a slightly modified stock though....

another welcome to sprint thread.. my speeds are always at 1x no matter what rom/modem im on because of my area
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Well first crickets 3g doesn't work very well on sprint phones, if you want real 3g you need a cricket phone or be on Sprint.
Data does work on touchwiz roms though, and if you want aosp you have to flash a fix to get it to work on those, but it won't be even close to 3g unless your lucky.
If you don't have the fix its here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479175 use the ics one for ics and jb.
I've gotten 1.6 Mb/s download speed on aosp jb with Cricket, although average during the day is more like 800Kb/s. Area, PRL, signal strength, etc play a huge role as well.
