I've been looking for a thread to help me out with my phone but I couldn't find anything to help me. If you know any thread with a fix for this please redirect me there.
But anyways I was updating the firmware on my Sprint Epic touch 4G to jellybean on the Samsung website and right when it almost finished it failed at modem bin, and it bricked. It says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again. ( I don't have kies installed in my computer).
I've been try to restore like it was before but nothing that I found would work.
I'm running ICS 4.0.4 FL24
I can run Odin Mode and the phone was not rooted before this.
I've tried to restore using Odin3 but it always fails after modem.bin
When I'm in Odin mode it says
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-D710
CUSTOM BINARY: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
This is after I try Odin3 to restore the phone

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I need some help please.
I'm using Odin v3.04 to install CWM on my Galaxy grand duos, the phone reboots after installation but when I use the key combo, it takes me to the stock recovery.
My system's version is 4.2.2, It's not stock.. and I can't install stock roms because everytime they are zips, and when you extract them you don't get tar or md5 files.
What program should I use to install them? Thanks in advance
Here's what I get on odin when I install CWM:

This is because you are not flashing Fix-Recovery.zip with cwm right after flashing it through Odin, try this again
Take the recovery .tar file from here according to your firmware (4.1.2 or 4.2.2) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315529
Then follow this step by step instructions : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46395577&postcount=19
brother try trwp custom recovery if available for grand or any other custom recovery
good luck :good::good:
cwm on grand duos-
just uncheck the AUTO REBOOT option in ODIN,
when ODIN is just done , simply remove your battery,
no need to flash fix recovery,,
try what i said
TWRP recovery flashable via odin
give it a shot buddy
good luck :good::good::good:
I attempted to update my rooted Sprint Galaxy S3 via Kies to 4.3, although it did not finish. My phone was on during the initial running of Kies, the phone went into Download(ing... Do not turn off target) mode (Odin)
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warrenty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER AP SWREV: 1
After sitting for a substantial amount of time Kies states that it needs to do a Emergency Firmware Recovery, I attempt, but isn't able to do so. Assuming it has a problem working with ODIN MODE, I run the alternative method of flashing the Stock ROM to my phone using ODIN 3.07 (in administrative mode/ Windows 8)
I download the ROM: KIES_HOME_L710VPBLJ7_L710SPRBLJ7_329968_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5
I follow the guide for putting the ROM into the PDA spot,
when I select the ROM from my folder it shows this:

This is as far as it will go.
I've restarted the system and ran it again just as described.
I've reinstalled Samsung USB Drivers
I've looked for another Stock ROM, but the Sammobile.com/firmware downloads aren't available due to the hosting site.
Please, if anyone has had this problem and has fixed it, or anyone that knows why it is stopping at sbl2.mbn contact me here or at [email protected].

I would assume its because you're attempting to downgrade. Try this in Odin instead
http://rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/S...0VPUCMK3_L710SPRCMK3_L710VPUCMK3_HOME.tar.exe
At this point, DO NOT reboot the phone. If you had read the Knox faq, you would know that attempting to flash a < MK3 stock tar will while on the Knox bootloader will immediately brick your phone because the older firmware will not get written. Right now, you need to immediately flash an MK3 full stock tar if you don't want a fancy paperweight.

Don't use a pit file and don't check repartition.
Use Odin 1.87 it hasn't given me an issue flashing the latest tar file

Also use a download manager to download the stock tar, that way you won't have a wonky download which sounds like is your case possibly

What would you recommend as a download manager? If you don't mind me asking.
After running the tar I got from a previous post, a MK3 tar, it gives me:

This time passing sbl2.mbn.....but shouldn't it also load sbl1.mbn and sbl3.mbn....i've seen it listed in so many other posts.
Thank you for the tar file. I'm also curious on the the topic...are there more than one Odin? I have Odin3, (some sites refer to it as Odin3, ODIN, or just Odin) versions 1.87 (the one you told me to try), 3.07, and 3.09. I wasn't under the impression that certain versions of Odin worked better for some than others. Do they? And, is Odin and Odin3 different? I appreciate your help on this subject.
Uninstalled the USB drivers then reinstalled them with SGS3 tool kit, swapped to original cable from Samsung galaxy s4,, as well as USB port... It has a status bar on Odin first time .... Hold tight.
IT PASSED!
To be clear for people that have this same problem in the future...
Uninstall Kies, if you have it
Run a registry cleaner, I used CCleaner
Install Samsung Galaxy USB Drivers through SGS3 Toolkit
Use Odin 1.87 in Admin
Use MK3 tar in PDA section, leave auto reboot and reset time
Use original or I'm assuming Samsung USB cable
If one port doesnt work, try another USB port
Thank you everyone for your input and help, folks like you make this site worth using. :good:

Hi,
I am currently using some Samsung Galaxy Note II SGH-I317's and am trying to install a "dual persona image" onto the device. When doing this, the device has gone into screwy mode where i am unable to enter into recovery mode. The key sequence simply doesnt work. I am able to enter into ODIN (download) mode with no issues, but not into recovery.
When i try to install the base image back onto the device using ODIN i get a fail each time. Below is the output from ODIN:
