I believe that the kernel you're talking about is for JB and JB only, while the ROM is ICS, my suggestion is to download another kernel and make sure it is for ICS, or I'm afraid it won't work (said with a classy English accent)
Don't worry bro, just reflash the ROM but next time get an ICS kernel or you'll just get a bootloop.... Peace Out (America's Normal English)
See what I did there? That's what I call a total show off!!

That was kernel for JB only not for ICS. RemICS is ICS rom. You can just reflash the rom just like 7amada said or you can just download ICS kernel and flash it directly. It works though and i have tried it a few times. Just wipe cache and dalvik then flash the kernel
Don't hesitate pressing the "thanks" button

sorry for not mentioning it earlier that
i applied forfivo's kernels on cm10 beta 2 and paranoid 2.99... NOT on REMICS v6

afterwards i tried REMICS v6 (based on castagnaIT v7.3) and it gave the same result as above ...
BOTH castagnaIT and Forvivo kernels are OC/UV..
is there something todo with ov/uv in kernel and my device ??
but how its possible that some wonders hav this problem and some don't ??

Ah, thanks for clarification.
I suggest going the Pristine route:
Turn off your phone
Extract the SD Card
Copy important data off your SD Card to a PC (Windows, Mac, Linux, doesn't matter)
IMPORTANT: Format your SD Card. Repartition if you want (if you plan on using Link2SD)
Copy the updatezips for (1) Your ROM, and (2) Your kernel (if your chosen ROM does not include your preferred kernel).
DO NOT put anything else in the SD Card
Insert the SD Card into your phone
Boot into CWM
Wipe the following: user data (/data), system (/system), cache (/cache), dalvik cache, Internal SD. *DO NOT* wipe external SD.
(You might have to hunt around in CWM's menu structure to perform all of the above)
Install ROM from the external SD
Reboot phone.
You should be entering the Android Setup Wizard. Follow the steps to completion.
Configure SD swapping (if supported)
Reboot (normally, not into recovery)
Verify everything's still working.
Boot into recovery/CWM
Install your kernel, DO NOT boot yet after installation!
IMPORTANT: Fix Permisions, wipe dalvik cache, reboot phone.
Verify everything's still working, the new kernel is used, etc etc etc
Boot into recovery/CWM
Fix Permissions, reboot phone
IMPORTANT: DO NOT restore apps you've backed up previously *unless* it was backed up using the same 'generation' of ROM (e.g., GB or ICS or JB).
The only things safe to restore are: (1) SMS/MMS messages, (2) Contacts, and (3) Call Logs. Other things might softbrick your ROM. You have been warned!
Now you can copy important files (*except* app backups) back into the SD Card via any method of your liking (USB Storage or AirDroid or Samba FileSharing or ...)
I *never* experience any problems going the Pristine route, except for well-known annoyances.

Okay, since you're successful until step 16, and fail on step 17, I strongly suspect that your ROM is somehow 'finicky', it does not want other kernels.
I suggest you try asking some questions in the ROM's discussion thread.

I got a simple question about flashing a rom, at this point its JellyTime.
I'm not really familiar with the order that you need to flash and if you need to flash the kernel separately?
My order is now:
- clean/wipe
- Flash ROM
- Flash gapps
- fastboot flash boot.img (is this step required, or does this already happen when flashing the ROM?)
Then the follow-up question is, does it affect the ROM when you boot the first time with an older kernel?

You can flash the kernel basically anytime. I usually dirty flash kernels with no problem.
Also, no need to fastboot the boot.img. The rest of your order looks fine.
My order :
- format all partitions (except sdcard)
- wipe cache/dalvik
- Flash ROM
- Flash gapps
- fixing permissions
- Reboot
But i think your steps should be fine as well.

You can fix permissions using recoveries like 4ext and stuff...remember to wipe cache and davlik if you are flashing just kernel.
Like he said use recovery 4ext there's an option at "tools".

Wiping cache+dalvik cache is redundant after formatting all partitions. A lot of people have this habit and recommend it, but its unnecessary. Dalvik-cache is located in the data partition. It's nothing special, its a folder there like any other, and contains classes.dex files for all apps on the device. When you format all partitions, data is formatted, so the dalvik-cache is wiped along with it. And the cache partition is formatted anyway. So wiping cache+dalvik again after formatting all partitions is of no use and unnecessary.

You don't need to wipe cache and dalvik after flashing a kernel. I used to do it too, but many times the devs themselves have said it isn't required. Lord Clockan said many times that wiping cache+dalvik is unnecessary after flashing a new kernel. When you think about it, it makes sense. Dalvik cache just contains classes.dex files for all the apps on the device and nothing else. When the dalvik-cache is rebuilt after a wipe, it pulls the classes.dex from each apk and puts it in the dalvik-cache folder (please correct me if I'm wrong). This isn't in any way related to the kernel and what it does. Regardless of the kernel flashed, the dalvik cache will remain the same. So it shouldn't make sense to wipe it for every kernel flash.

Hello, I did all of the steps in this order and ROM is booting OK. But after that I have random freezes while doing different tasks (taking picture, going to settings, after unlock). Do you have any suggestions what can I do/change to fix this. This is happening on all Jelly Time releases - i tried R3, R4, R5.1 and also AOKP V6. When I flash IcoColdSandwich everything is running without problem.
I will appreciate your help. Thank you!
My order :
- wipe data/factory reset

Thanks, that makes it clear.
So its possible that you flash the kernel when you are flashing the ROM!
Just like the title suggests, which KT747 kernal is compatible with CM10? Every time I flash the kernel my phone wont boot and I have to restore from a backup. I am currently on CM10-10/22 build 10827 and the KT747 kernel I am trying is the AOSP-JB-ATT-10-22-2012. I do have a ATT Galaxy S3 so I would assume that this should work?
Thanks for everyone's time!
Zehel
There is a version for pre 10-14 CM10 and one for after.
After you flash your ROM be sure to fully boot your device into android then go back into recovery again and then flash kt747 , then wipe cache+dalvik +fix permission . Reboot

Ah! Fix permissions could be a huge part of the problem. Let me try that and see if that fixes my problem. Also, maybe I am blind but I can't seem to find the one for CM. Is there a separate thread for the CM Kernel or is it in the thread by Ktoonsez?
Thanks again,

Well, to be more specific, KT747 kernel doesn't work at all on my GS3. I am using ATT variant i747, with task's AOKP ROM. I followed the full wipe -> ROM -> gapp -> kernel steps strictly, and was sure using the post-1014-JB kernel to pair with 1022 AOKP release, But still, my phone is suffering random hot reboot, black screen, system process are terminated randomly, and any opened apps will be closed within mins. Yes, I have cache/dalvik wiped after flashing the kernel, and permissions are fixed. I also tried to flash ROM first, then log on to system, then flash kernel, makes no difference. I really don't have a clue why KT747 kernel doesn't work on my phone, any suggestion is welcome.
I would suggest you to do a complete clean installation:
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Format /system
5. Format / data
6. Format / cache
7. Reboot recovery
8. Wipe data
9. Wipe Cache
10. Wipe dalvik
11. Mount /System
12. Install Rom
13. Install Gapp
14. Fix permission
15. Reboot & Setup your phone
16. Install Kernel
17. Wipe Cache
18. Wipe dalvik
19. Fix permission
It should be fine then.

Rom is supposed to be flashed first. If you don't it overwrites the kernel with the one pre-loaded on with the Rom.Otherwise follow everyone else's instructions >Cache/Dalvik/FixPerms after flash. Go into settings and see that the kernel is there. Good luck

Ok so, CWM "Wipe Menu" :
wipe dalvik-cache
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache and cache partition
wipe battery stats
wipte data/factory reset
Try to
wipe data, cache and dalvik again
then manually (in the advanced menu if I recall correctly):
format boot
format system
<...> (everything except sdcard)
I've taken a look, and nothing relating to formatting is under Advanced.
Under Mounts and Storage Menu however, there is the following:
unmount /cache
mount /data
unmount /sdcard
mount /system
format /cache
format /data
format /sdcard
format /system
mount USB storage
Yep there.
format /cache

Thats weird.. if you have already format everything except sdcard, and flash the rom only, and still got the same problem, then the cause is either from the cwm, which is quite outdated, or the rom itself.. but i doubt the rom is the culprit... try use ext4 recovery or update the latest cwm.. or maybe wait for someone who have a better solution..

I am not interested in trying 4EXT, CWM is a widely used custom recovery I can't see why this could be at fault? I am running the latest version, though not the "touch" version!
Can't find anyone else with this issue!
BTW - I am S-ON?
Any further help or advice on this one?
Thank you.
I would try 4ext. CWM has had some problems on thus phone in the past. Also, if you are S-ON, are you fastboot flashing the boot.img? Check the Ace Think Tank thread in the General forum for a guide on how to do that. Though usually, not doing that results in a phone that hangs at the splash screen, not one with systemui stopping...
since im new to xda i can not post on the main thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442977&page=12
so i had to create this one as a question, cause i have a problem installing this rom, i downloaded both the kernel and the rom from the main thread, i first flashed to stock rom with odin, then i followed every step to install the kernel and after the rom, but im stuck in boot loop and im kinda angry cause it seems like im the only one with that problem.
i tried to install the rom using white's 1.33 kernel instead of percy's kernel ( the one provided in the main thread) and then flashing the rom, and it kinda worked, because i didnt go in to boot loop, but neither wifi or bluetooth werent working.
pls help me!!! i really want to try this rom!
1.first flash stock ddlk2
2.download the rom and flash it after :
(i) formatting system,data and cache
(ii) mounting all partitions
When done flashing, wipe data and reboot

Try this method
#1-Flash stock rom using odin
#2-Go to cwm
#3-Mount all partitions
#4-Install CyanogenMod#2 kernel
#5-Back and go to Advance then REBOOT RECOVERY
#6-You are on cwm now and the fonts are small
#7-Go to mounts and Format system, data, cache
#8-Dont press back -Mount all partitions
#9-Install zip from sd card-choose zip then choose The Rom
#10-When it is done flashing -Wipe Data - tHEN REBOOT
Do this.
1. Go to cwm recovery
2. Clear data and wipe cache
3. Go to advance :- wipe dalvik cache and battery states.
4. Go to mount & storage :- format system, data & cache.. dont format sd.
5. Then mount everything expect sd-ext.
6. Flash kernel.
7. Go to advance reboot recovery.
8. Again wipe data & cache.
9. go to advance and again wipe dalvik cache & battery states.
10. Mount everything expect sd-ext
This time you dont need to format system, data, or cache in mount.
11. Finally flash rom and reboot.
Hope it work.

format system = mounts and storage----> format /system ?
and when i want to install kernel, if i wipe and format again, the rom will not be deleted?

Do a clean installation:
I assumed that you already saved cm9 rom and cm9 gapps in your external sd-card so, boot into recovery mode then,
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system.
under the same menu, format /sdcard (be careful NOT to format /external_sd by mistake)
install cm9 rom
install cm9 gapps
reboot your phone
