Hello all, I'm new on HTC One x and I wanto to ask you about warranty.
What about it when I'll relock bootloader and install all stock like rom, boot.img etc, will HTC take this to the service?
As i know bootloader will show "relocked". Service said they won't repair phone for free if there is "unlocked".
Some people get away with it while other don't.
I believe that if it is all stock and isn't running, in HTC's terminology (illegal software) then you should be ok.
Only one way to fins out......

Yes this is a very grey area !
When I had DHD it was much simpler.. I had S-OFF.. As i know there is no S-OFF method?
Can you tell me an example and issues when people had warranty repair?

I asked HTC about this sort of thing since unlocking and installing a custom ROM isn't likely to break hardware and they basically said that each case is looked at individually. If they have to install a stock ROM they'll charge you for it but otherwise you might be ok.
That means I can flash back to the stock rom and they might fix the relocked phone. Am I right?
You can always try. I think the whole "warranty may be void!" thing is for people trying to send back bricked phones that they've bricked trying to flash custom ROMs and then claiming warranty repairs. The worst that happens is they say no.
Hi everyone i have htc one x running on stock JB with cid 32..

No and no.
There are some Chinese websites that can unlock without using htcdev but once you unlock. the phone will know that it has been unlocked.
If you relock. The boot loader will say relocked rather than locked so HTC will know that it has been done. Even if you don't use their tools to do it

Hi again everyone. I wonder now how I can root my HOX having jellybean, without unlocking the bootloader? Or maybe an easy and safe root for HOX if there is any?
Impossible to root without unlocking bootloader unless you have s-off.
Probably the most noob proof rooting tool is hasoon2000's all in one toolkit.

What i s-off? And what are the problems with unlocking bootloader if I do?
S-off stands for security off. If we had it for our hox, it would be possible to root and instal roms without letting htc know about it.
It would also make possible things like downgrading hboot version and changing cid. This time around hox is s-on and that means we need a pc to flash roms.
Unlocking bootloader has only one problem:
warranty is void permanently.

The warranty will NOT be voided even with root in the EU (you can look it up). Consumer rights law in the EU clearly states that the user is fully capable of rooting and/or installing any custom OS/mod to his device as he/she see fit that would best fit his/her needs will not void the warranty for the device in question but will no longer benefit technical sw support. As for the device, they HAVE to adress any damage to the hw as long as it's a manufacturing defect or the custom mods on the device are not to blame for it.
Rgds.

Ok so I have installed arhd and want to revert back to stock for warranty service
I made a Nandroid backup before unlocking the bootloader
Please guide me through the process
specs:-
cid-11111111
hboot-1.36
s-off
U can't get completely to stock. You have to install your main version RUU after locking the bootloader, but u will face the problem where the bootloader says 'relocked' instead of 'locked'

So will I be able to get warranty service or not
I don't think so dude.

Can anyone else confirm this fact?
You can easily return to stock and run any ruu because you have s-off
with s-off you can also LOCK the bootloader instead of relocked, so lock it and send it for warranty
Depends on what is the problem with Your HOX. If they need to replace Your motherboard then You gonna pay for it. HTC official policy... I'm from Poland and I sent it for repair 3 times. Everytime they needed to replace motherboard. And they did it two times even with relocked bootloader (don't know why, maybe they always repair phones with broken autorotation? common issue with hox. coz it was the case with first and second repair). 3rd time I got problem with screen backlight and bang - ~$300 . I tried contacting with HTC Poland and HTC Taiwan but same answer. If bootloader was unlocked and motherboard needs to be replaced You need to pay for it. Any other issue with any other part and they fix it for free. So hard to tell really. You may be lucky What is Your issue with HOX? You may also consider burning down the motherboard... They will not be able to tell if You had bootloader unlocked... But it's kinda cheating... I just read somewhere that some dude did it and they replaced his motherboard for free

Can you explain how to lock bootloader
I have a nandroid backup can I use that for restoring my phone
Please explain
Thanks for everyone that helped really appreciate all replies
And I just realized that putting "urgent" in my title of the thread does not mean that my question is more important than others
Any help will be appreciated
An s-off hox also can show relocked only.
Helo, I'm a developer and I have a HTC M9 GSM Unlocked version. I need a Developer version but I don't like use HTC DEV for unlocking bootloader. If I send back my phone to HTC Service make my phone to HTC Developer versio? I need to guarantee for my phone. Any who help me?
I don't believe HTC will do this. I know when I sent back my M7 for the camera repair, they made a point of telling me they could not accommodate requests for unlocking or special setups.
But why would you prefer that method over HTCdev unlock? HTC won't deny warranty coverage just because you unlock, only if you use the unlock to mess up the phone. In my experience, they will fix hardware defects that are their fault. My M7 was HTCdev unlocked and s-off. They fixed it and it came back s-off.
Htc support told me if i request a bootloader unlock bin file immediately void the warranty. If i unlocked or not....
I have got a M7 with microphone problem (water) i would like send back and i need pay for fix it.
