Ok so I have installed arhd and want to revert back to stock for warranty service
I made a Nandroid backup before unlocking the bootloader
Please guide me through the process
specs:-
cid-11111111
hboot-1.36
s-off
U can't get completely to stock. You have to install your main version RUU after locking the bootloader, but u will face the problem where the bootloader says 'relocked' instead of 'locked'

So will I be able to get warranty service or not
I don't think so dude.

Can anyone else confirm this fact?
You can easily return to stock and run any ruu because you have s-off
with s-off you can also LOCK the bootloader instead of relocked, so lock it and send it for warranty
Depends on what is the problem with Your HOX. If they need to replace Your motherboard then You gonna pay for it. HTC official policy... I'm from Poland and I sent it for repair 3 times. Everytime they needed to replace motherboard. And they did it two times even with relocked bootloader (don't know why, maybe they always repair phones with broken autorotation? common issue with hox. coz it was the case with first and second repair). 3rd time I got problem with screen backlight and bang - ~$300 . I tried contacting with HTC Poland and HTC Taiwan but same answer. If bootloader was unlocked and motherboard needs to be replaced You need to pay for it. Any other issue with any other part and they fix it for free. So hard to tell really. You may be lucky What is Your issue with HOX? You may also consider burning down the motherboard... They will not be able to tell if You had bootloader unlocked... But it's kinda cheating... I just read somewhere that some dude did it and they replaced his motherboard for free

Can you explain how to lock bootloader
I have a nandroid backup can I use that for restoring my phone
Please explain
Thanks for everyone that helped really appreciate all replies
And I just realized that putting "urgent" in my title of the thread does not mean that my question is more important than others
Any help will be appreciated
An s-off hox also can show relocked only.

Are you willing to lose the guarantee, by official HTC metod, in order to have S-off or root rights?
Doesn't HTC method just make you loose software warranty ?
I mean, I think hardware problems are still covered after that.
see that on htcdev website :
It is our responsibility to caution you that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty.

I need confirmation on that though as I'm not sure
i think physical defects or damages due to unlocking the bootloader, then overclocking and frying the cpu or motherboard will not be covered..
however... if the screen malfunctions, it would be reasonable to uphold the warranty unless there are reasons to believe it is again due to end-users unlocking the bootloader. (ie, maybe the guy unlock the bootloader, overclocked the phone and the heat caused some circuit to melt due to excess heat and this caused the screen to stop working?)
many scenarios, just giving some examples of what i think would mean non-coverage by warranty..
Physical damage can be attributed to unlocked bootloader. Example, heating has destroyed your lcd pannel. Warrenty uncovered. In our case this is not the truth but, to get back your phone what can u do if not pay?!?
Maybe htc is too much honest or maybe not... anyway they have a strong weapon to not recognize it.

Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
so, device still be s-on? no way to change radio and hboot? O_O
I will do it with an unofficial tool.
Hopefully the revolutionary tool will be there soon!
I don't want to wait..

If you want to send your phone to HTC, you can bring it back to stock before.
But if you did it with htcdev, HTC can see that you unlocked your Bootloader, so it will be difficult to get your phone repaired.- HTC just won't do anything but they will never know if you used an unoffical tool.

Sound good to me, I always like the option to go back to stock for these purposes so I'll wait too

You can go back to stock after using htcdev, too.
But your Bootloader will be signed of htc, so they know that you did it.
Yea you're right!Hope S-off will come then I don't need to unlock in HTC bootloader~
Has anyone asked the Revolutionary team if the exploit they used before works with the HTC One series and if they will support the device? I assume they will because they tend to follow flagship phones but you never know. Here's hoping we won't have to wait too long.

I'm sure that they are working on it..
As far as I heard you still have warranty even though you unlocked your bootloader.
Yes of course but if for example your processor is damaged, you will surely not have any warranty on this.
Us vivid users went through heaven and hell to try and unlock the bootloader/achieve s off. Only after some strategic calls to HTC did we even get the official bootloader unlock, we never achieved it.unofficially either. We still don't even have s off so no radio flashing and a more round about way for flashing kernels and recoveries. I really hope the One X will have an unlock bootloader option. HTC wasn't even planning on giving the option until six months after the release. It didn't matter though, our development and most the community was already killed off by the time we got bootloader unlock. Hopefully HTC learned a lesson or the people working on unofficial s off/bootloader unlock have some tricks up their sleeve...

I was just chatting with HTC and mentioned I had mine bootloader unlocked. He said it voided my warranty as that was stated on HTCDev, but I said HTCDev only says its void certain parts off the warranty.
But in e-mail I got from HTC they state, you do not get warranty when you are running an custom rom, so I guess we need put it back to stock and lock the bootloader.
Then there should be no problem with warranty.

Yes, there still is a problem. Never again will your hboot read "locked", it will only show up as "relocked", so you still aren't quite out of the water.

Yes that's true, but I believe you can just use your warranty. The guys in chat who say you voided it don't know what they talking about.
If you really send it in for warranty then they should just fix it. But best we can do is relock it.

Actually, a stock-looking rooted ROM will do the trick. I've heard enumerable amounts of people saying the people at HTC didn't even look to see if the device was rooted or bootloader unlocked. I really don't think they are that picky.

I think so to. But atleast I would load the original non rooted stock rom on it. I only get the bootloader from Evo 3D to get show relocked and under it still says s-off, but I guess that's from revolutionary and I don't know how to get rid off that, but I will just leave it like this.
I have heard enough stories that peoples HTC got fixed with an unlocked bootloader and some even with an custom rom. And how big is the chance someone really ever going need use the warranty?
I think its quite small. But I'm not going unlock the HTC One X i think as it should be fast enough even without an custom rom.
I don't want HTC to know it and we should have an unlock method that is fully reversible, at HTC Desire HD we had that, with on click you had it back s-on.

I asked HTC about this sort of thing since unlocking and installing a custom ROM isn't likely to break hardware and they basically said that each case is looked at individually. If they have to install a stock ROM they'll charge you for it but otherwise you might be ok.
That means I can flash back to the stock rom and they might fix the relocked phone. Am I right?
You can always try. I think the whole "warranty may be void!" thing is for people trying to send back bricked phones that they've bricked trying to flash custom ROMs and then claiming warranty repairs. The worst that happens is they say no.
Hi guys,
After rooting my phone and installing some roms, my phone has decided to randomly stop working sometimes.
I received my phone in July so I still have warranty, but I can only send it back if HTC think I have not tampered with my phone.
I have looked at a thread on how to return to stock and RELOCK hboot, however HTC will be able to see this, and I would like to know if it is possible to relock hboot but just make it say LOCKED, as a new phone?
You can't without S-OFF, and S-OFF is impossible at the moment.

all you can do is relock the bootloader, and pray for the best. if your sending your phone in for anything apart from motherboard issues you will be fine.

Ok thanks
But the problem is that the screen won't always turn on, which I think could be related to software or hardware. Just after wiping and flashing a new rom, everything works perfectly, but then a day later, screen problems appear. Do you know what this is caused by?
my phone's friend is the same. i think you must send to HTC to repair .
Htc One **TAMPERED**
I was just wondering, I have the HTC ONE/ M7 and I was trying to root it but was never successful. I unlocked it with the HTCDev website and installed GOO on my phone but thats about as far as I got. Now my phone shows **TAMPERED** and **UNLOCKED** in the HBOOT menu, I was just curious as to how I would get those to go away.
THANKS!

Hi guys!
My OneX has an hardware fault, the WiFi antenna doesn't work properly, so I need to send it back to the repair centre, but I've got some questions first:
- I've got the Nandroid Backup of the stock ROM and the stock recovery, so I can get everything back to stock. After the flash, the bootloader will say "re-locked" instead of "locked", right?
- If I send the phone with everything stock, but the bootloader is "re-locked", will be the warranty voided? I think no, just because this fault came from the HTC directly, it's not a damage from something I did wrong or from the rooted ROMs...
What do you think about this guys? Help me, I'm really frustrated of this kind of fault...
There is a big chance that (99%) they will not fix.
Unfortunately it is voided. I know what are you thinking but it is...
You will have to pay to fix it.
And yes, it will show re-locked and they will charge you for the phone transportation and work done in it (?).
But....... you can always try to fix yourself (cheaper) that sending it to HTC.
I will try when(if) mine starts showing off this.
Since its a hardware fault.. there is a possibility they may fix this.
But if it's their fault, why do I have to pay for someone's fault?

I've just restored my One X to stock, even with the recovery. When I turned on my phone, it asked me to upgrade the fw to the 4.0.1 and the Sense to 4.0. I did it. After the reboot, I thougt: "And now my bootloader will be locked, right?" So, I went into the bootloader, but it was Locked again... So, I relocked it with "fastboot oem lock". And now it's relocked...
Now, my question is: If I re-restore my stock backup now, and I'll re-do the official update to 4.0.1, will be the bootloader locked, or it'll be always "relocked"?
Please, aswer me, this hardware fault makes me mad! =.=
If it's an hardware problem they'll fix it,if it's software I would count on getting it fixed for free.
Anyway, unlocked bootloaders and warranty loss are only related in software issues.

So I can send the phone even with the relocked bootloader? The problem is the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538 , so it's a production fault, it's not a software problem...
Another question... When the RUU will be released, I'll use it for updating the phone, will the bootloader be "Locked" or "Relocked"?

You need to relock it to install RUU, after relock, it will say RELOCKED.
You might be better off taking it to your retailer and relying on consumer protection laws rather than HTC warranty.

Yes, I know that... But the question was another... I've already relocked the bootloader, it's now RELOCKED, but when I'll install a JB RUU, or the JB OTA, will the bootloader be LOCKED or RELOCKED?

Hi XDA. My problem is that I sent my ONE to HTC due to the "No Sim Error" i was getting. When it got there, they told me that i had to pay 200 to fix it (voided warranty by rooting/unlocking bootloader). So they sent it back and I know my problem is that the bootloader says relocked instead of locked. So is it possible for me to gain soff/root with rumrunner again, then use revone to relock it, then flash the ruu so it is 100% stock? Or would using revone not be possible? Also, if i send it back to HTC will they still say that the warranty has been voided even if the phone now says locked (as it did when it was stock)? Thanks.

What version hboot do you have? What software version is on the phone? Go to settings, about, software info, and see the software number.

In the future do this to reset lock status. It works once rooted and s off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46153741
And this to set back to s on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46286588
I don't know if they keep records but it's worth a shot. If they sent it back to you with 4.3 it is not currently exploitable but probably will be soon. Do you still have s off on device or did they lock it up? Because if you have s off you can just manually change whatever you want.
