Never seen that Hboot version either, probably a fake.
Also, CID is always 8 characters long, not 5 - it's definitely a fake One X.

As other guys told me about this issue you can't install JB, but any ICS ROM will work. So just get an ICS ROM and be good.

To be honest i never heard of your cid and definitely never heard of your hboot number so i don't know if a custom rom from here will ever work ! When i have time tonight i will take a look. I'll be back
Get the Viper ICS ROM or any other AOSP ROM. Flash in fastboot the boot.ing. Fastboot erase cache afterwards. In recovery factory reset. Flash ROM. And everything will be fine.
CID only prevents you from flashing JB sense ROMs since you can't upgrade hboot. Any other will work.

Hi everybody,
I know this sounds like the tipical question and up until some days ago, I thought I had the answer too....
But reading some posts lately, I now have a doubt and I really wanted to ask this directly:
Is it possible to unbrand an HOX (3 UK), even if we don't have S-OFF yet?
I thought that, being that without SOFF the radio wouldn't be accessible, it would not be possible to completely unbrand anything....
But then in some recent post someone mentioned that in the HOX the radio is in the ROM so it can be actually overriden....
So, if I unlock through htcdev, and install any of those ROMs based on newer RUUs and Radios, will it work? The radio too?
Any downside to this approach? (beside warranty, of course)
Thank you for the clarifications....
No it is not possible to flash a different RUU without S-OFF
You can run custom, though
I cant find the way to ask a question so i will ask here ...... I want to update my evo 3d to 4.0 , i finished downloading successufly but when i try to install it the phone powers off and takes me to bootloader menu(that i unlock it then relock it) i reboot the phone but
The update dosent appear ...helppp

Ok, so this is what I knew....but what will the custom rom override the radio??
3UK phone have specific radios, I think, so what if I install a custom rom based on a newer RUU with a newer radio? What wil it happen??
Thank you!

Somebody will correct me if i'm wrong but I am 99% sure that the radios are the same fot 3uk as for any other provider. The radio's are provided by htc.
Custom rom's will be fine, the only thing that you can't do brandwise is sim unlock until s-off is achieved.
you can unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install root, change CID, restore stock recovery, relock bootloader and install unbranded RUU
I did this on two One S and the procedure is the same for the One X

I don't have the technical reasons to hand ( something to do with the partitions being different I think ) but it's all down to this being tegra3 based

Thats right, they said week 50, and thats this week.
But most likely they will need 1 or more weeks...
I have a backup of my vodap102 German version.
So i only need to:
1. Flash the backup through the recovery.
2. Flash the boot.img with fastboot from the backup.
3. Flash the stock recovery - but i don't know which one i have to take.
Stock recovery - which should i take ??

Thank you buddy for this information.
I know it's logical that the versions have to match and you will find it in the settings tab, however i wanted to know it correctly, as it isn't mentioned so far as it will only work with the matching version.
HTC Devices are quite confusing, but also a lot of fun browsing through XDA, especially if S-Off isn't achieved... :cyclops:

And what about using RUU?
I bought my HOX already unlocked, and debranded, with a custom ROM inside. No nandroid whatsoever.
Instead, I have downloaded RUU.
What is the exact process to prepare for JB update?
If the phone was bought from Vodafone it is still branded. You sure can run the RUU to get back to stock to receive the OTA update. That is all you need to do.

Stock RUU ICS for CID Vodap_102
Hi there,
Since starting this thread I have a question/suggestion:
Could somebody please place a good working link to the stock RUU and the needed boot.img when coming from Custum ROM.
Before flashing Jelly Bean and coming from this thread it is more easy then looking and searching around with still doubting about the correct RUU and boot.img. This will also reduce a lot of questions in this thread I believe.
As you guess I am one of the persons who can not find the correct files on a good link .
Thank you all.
Regards,
Rob

he can't... once you flash the RUU your phone becomes normal as pretty much every One on this forum... you'll only be able to go back to superCID only if we discover a way to S-OFF
Maybe you can find some more useful info here

but Im S-OFF so I will lose the supercid if I flash RUU ?
and I read that I dont have too unlock bootloader if I S-OFF is that true ?
Yes you need to unlock the bootloader before you can flash !
Edit :
You won't loose s-off by unlocking the bootloader. The possibility is there when you install a ruu.....
so how exactly S-OFF help me here ? XD
thatp pretty weird before i take my HOX to fix it was on Relock cause I opened the bootloader then relock to use waranty and now it says LOCKED no RELOCKED how is this possible ?
and how the technican made my device S-OFF and SUEPRCID 1111111 ?
That's something i don't know exactly, they probably have HTC certified methods of unlocking and relocking to fix certain locked partitions of the phone.

Lets assume that to be safe. Always do it via a firmware flash or a stock nandroid backup. Just to be safe.
And yes you don't need to flash the boot.img manually. But as additional info :
A lot of devs have taken out the script that flashes the boot.img when installing the rom. So with a lot of roms you still have to flash the boot.img with fastboot commands.
and one more question super cid devices (non rooted or bootloader unlocked) get OTA updates faster then other cids ?
and if I go back to stock via RUU it wont change my device to S-ON right ? and there's anyway to bring the Super cid back ?
Hello everyone,
I have an international HTC One X with CID HTCCN701, and I would like to install CM10.1.
I am not a noob , and I have already installed a Jelly Bean ROM after unlocking. However, I am currently on hboot version 1.12 S-ON Unlocked, and I could not find a hboot that is for my CID which fits the requirements (Version 1.28 or higher)
Moreover, though I know how to flash hboot, it would be great if anyone can provide a method to update hboot without changing the present ROM, recovery, and data on the device.
Thank you!
P.S. Please do not tell me to search; I cannot find a firmware here for HTCCN701
Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks, but are you sure it will just refuse to flash if it is a fake? Because I saw on the forums that if a wrong firmware is flashed, the device could be bricked.
Another question is that is it possible to upgrade hboot without modifying system and data?

You would need s-off for it to flash if it's fake and upgrading the hboot doesn't wipe system or data , although unlocking the boot loader does

How do I know my m8 is branded? I have downloaded the CID getter from Google play store. Which show HTC_622. My phone does come with some bloat wear like Tvb. But it can be removed or disabled. Any idea guys? Thanks in advance.

You need to s-off your device then you can change the cid, you need either firewater for that and if it doesn't work you have to use sunshine which costs around 25$ but it will s-off your device for sure...but why changing cid? Shouldn't be that cid a WWE one? Or amercian one? Also if you change the cid to one of the you want you need to install a stock WWE/Europe Rom

Btw,Do I need custom recovery for flashing some mod over like the Harman kardon mode? After flashing it , I need to flash back to stock recovery just to get ota updates not?

If you flash mods like h/k you might won't be able to get or flash official ota because system files will be changed! And yes for mods you need custom recoveries

If just changing CID it self would need s off, stock recovery and Wat else do I need to do?

For changing cid you just need s-off , to get s-off you need root your device, but maybe the newest build of sunshine apk will temp root it. But your device Is a Sprint one right? Because h/k phones are only in US from Sprint. So normally you need to go to one m8 Sprint forum for s-off and all other things because I think if you just change your cid to wwe user Europe one you won't be able to get ota as your stock Rom is a Sprint one but you need then wwe or Europe Rom...

Not sure have this being ask before. So,I have bought a Hk version of m8 HTC_622. Was thinking of changing from CID HTC_622 to HTC_044 (my country ) or 001(WWE). Was this process possible? How do I know my m8 is branded? I have downloaded the CID getter from Google play store. Which show HTC_622. My phone does come with some bloat wear like Tvb. But it can be removed or disabled. Any idea guys? Thanks in advance.

Ah yes your phone Is Hong Kong one xD sorry so yea you can just download and flash it but if you take the one which is with based on 2.22.401.4 flash the firmware !!! That's really important...Also in general section you can find a tutorial how to removed the tampered flag and also there is a firmware which removes the red text while booting etc

My phone don't have the red text when booting..Just have the powered by android in black and you shocked me saying mine was a sprint unit as I dun see any sprint bloatware. One more question, if i flash the rom with different Cid, would it cause it to brick or sort?

You won't brick it but it either just wouldn't boot or you can't get any updates but you have the right cid so flashing a stock Rom will be nice

Always if you wipe dalvik cache it will rebuild it, and you need deodexed one, but if you flash h/k you still receive but can't flash newer ota due to changed system files
