Not sure have this being ask before. So,I have bought a Hk version of m8 HTC_622. Was thinking of changing from CID HTC_622 to HTC_044 (my country ) or 001(WWE). Was this process possible? How do I know my m8 is branded? I have downloaded the CID getter from Google play store. Which show HTC_622. My phone does come with some bloat wear like Tvb. But it can be removed or disabled. Any idea guys? Thanks in advance.

You need to s-off your device then you can change the cid, you need either firewater for that and if it doesn't work you have to use sunshine which costs around 25$ but it will s-off your device for sure...but why changing cid? Shouldn't be that cid a WWE one? Or amercian one? Also if you change the cid to one of the you want you need to install a stock WWE/Europe Rom

I'm aware of the s off thing, so basically what I need to do is s off, then change CID. Then install the firmware of my choice ? Btw,Do I need custom recovery for flashing some mod over like the Harman kardon mode? After flashing it , I need to flash back to stock recovery just to get ota updates not?

If you flash mods like h/k you might won't be able to get or flash official ota because system files will be changed! And yes for mods you need custom recoveries

If just changing CID it self would need s off, stock recovery and Wat else do I need to do?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
For changing cid you just need s-off , to get s-off you need root your device, but maybe the newest build of sunshine apk will temp root it. But your device Is a Sprint one right? Because h/k phones are only in US from Sprint. So normally you need to go to one m8 Sprint forum for s-off and all other things because I think if you just change your cid to wwe user Europe one you won't be able to get ota as your stock Rom is a Sprint one but you need then wwe or Europe Rom...

That's really important...Also in general section you can find a tutorial how to removed the tampered flag and also there is a firmware which removes the red text while booting etc

I want to move to other rom because stock one is suck my battery drain very fast and it not hardware problem because it has been replaced with OEM battery about couple of day ago

Just unlock the bootloader then flash a custom recovery the flash the rom zip.
When u flash the rom u dont need to flash the boot.img

he can't... once you flash the RUU your phone becomes normal as pretty much every One on this forum... you'll only be able to go back to superCID only if we discover a way to S-OFF
Maybe you can find some more useful info here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222115
but Im S-OFF so I will lose the supercid if I flash RUU ?
and I read that I dont have too unlock bootloader if I S-OFF is that true ?
Yes you need to unlock the bootloader before you can flash !
Edit :
You won't loose s-off by unlocking the bootloader. The possibility is there when you install a ruu.....
so how exactly S-OFF help me here ? XD
thatp pretty weird before i take my HOX to fix it was on Relock cause I opened the bootloader then relock to use waranty and now it says LOCKED no RELOCKED how is this possible ?
and how the technican made my device S-OFF and SUEPRCID 1111111 ?
That's something i don't know exactly, they probably have HTC certified methods of unlocking and relocking to fix certain locked partitions of the phone.

and if I want to go back to stock I can't flash RUU file because it will change my Super Cid to regular Cid ?

Lets assume that to be safe. Always do it via a firmware flash or a stock nandroid backup. Just to be safe.
And yes you don't need to flash the boot.img manually. But as additional info :
A lot of devs have taken out the script that flashes the boot.img when installing the rom. So with a lot of roms you still have to flash the boot.img with fastboot commands.
and one more question super cid devices (non rooted or bootloader unlocked) get OTA updates faster then other cids ?
and if I go back to stock via RUU it wont change my device to S-ON right ? and there's anyway to bring the Super cid back ?
How long do these normally take to be posted by HTC after the launch of a device?
There are two types of ruu's. The first would be an .exe ruu, these come directly from htc and well you run them on your computer. These are hit and miss, sometimes they get released others they don't usually I've seen them when an update is released. Now the second type is just a zip compiled from a raw system pull. BUT. Please don't quote me on this and don't flame either lol. This one I believe we just have to wait for someone to compile it

You can do it with a bit of thought...
1. Use the 1.54.401.5 firmware package posted by @mike1986. to make sure you're on the latest build
2. Flash the stock, odexed 1.54.401.5 ROM also posted by @mike1986. to go back to 100% stock (and it's not a Nandroid)
3. Flash the 1.54.401.5 stock recovery

Edit: You don't need S-Off to flash custom roms/kernels/recoveriers - it's for people that want to tinker at a deeper level.
From what I remember from my DNA days, S-Off removes the security flag on HTC devices and allows you to flash a different h-boot, change the CID - which allows you to flash firmware from different carriers (BE CAREFUL DOING THIS), and remove the "unlocked/tampered" text from the fastboot menu.
Also, check out the 2nd half of the article in this link: http://www.pocketables.com/2013/04/why-you-want-root-and-s-off-on-htc-devices.html
Again, be careful with S-Off. If you ever go back to S-On and have the wrong h-boot or firmware installed I believe it will brick the device.

Well that's new to me. If the developer of the ROM says to have your phone S-OFF then definitely go with their instructions. I haven't seen the S-OFF method on the forums here, but I'm sure a google search will get you to the needed file(s) and instructions. If I remember correctly, actually achieving S-OFF wasn't too complicated/dangerous as long as you're comfortable using adb/fastboot - it's just what you can do to your phone once you've achieved S-OFF that can be dangerous.

If you fully convert to gpe I think you need s-off because you use the ruu. But with an unlocked bootloader, you can just flash the gpe ROM instead of fully converting the phone.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask...what's the benefit of a full gpe conversion? Does it run faster...Will it update if the HTC gpe edition gets updated and will I have trouble with the T-Mobile bands? Thank you so much

That's exactly why most people do the ruu conversion, when there's an ota they will get the update too as long as you keep the stock Google recovery. Although on my m7 I was able to get ota with twrp. On m7 I kept Google radio and had no problems with T-Mobile. I think it should be the same for m8 since on the play store it says the phone supports T-Mobile. Just go check out the thread for the conversion if you need help.

I have rooted and flashed a custom recovery on my HTC One M8, only to find out that firewater s-off doesn't work on my phone. Now there is a tampered notification on Hboot and I cannot get OTA updates. Is there a RUU zip or stock ROM RUU .exe for the T-Mobile version of it ? Please help me !?
How do you root and add custom recovery?

Cj did you try a few more times? After flashing a custom ROM?

Do you mean did I try to do S-off using a custom ROM ? No I did not try that. I honesty didn't want to deviate to much away from stock.

HTC has not released an RUU for the HTC One M8 yet so you have to wait. that's why I'm still stock not even root or custom recovery. Always have a way to go back to complete stock before making any mods if you are not sure.

Technically you can just install the custom recovery, then Nandroid your current Rom IMG after that and back it up to the external SD card or Cloud Storage if you wanna go back to "stock/rooted" Before you play with any Roms.
Tho yes I understand your view. I was rooted on 4.4.2 on my bootloader locked Republic Wireless Moto X and it had a force close settings issue...
Needless to say I accidentally wiped my system and was stuck having to RSD Lite back to 4.4.2 stock unrooted because of that, thus loosing root forever (as they patched the exploit in 4.4.2 and the new bootloader doesn't allow for downgrading back to 4.2.
RUU here:

Are you sure you need S-OFF for HK? I thought I read here someone was able to use the S-ON download from the HK thread and it worked.
Can the RUU be run even if you convert to GPE or is there more to the process?
Can you find that thread ? Because S-Off doesn't work on my phone at all.

Fully Working Harman / Kardon "conversion" for all HTC ONE M8 variants! - May 05
It's better off you are S off, but you can still attempt it. The thing is if you need to update the drivers, it is strongly recommended to be S off. For 25 dollars, I used sunshine and was able to get s off. Depends on how bad you want it, I suppose.
The thing is, I have a T-Mobile M8 and my device will not allow me at all to S-off. I tried firewater with no dice. So I'm willing to pay a bit to get S-Off.

I have a Tmo too. I just used sunshine the other day and I am happy. It worked where the others wouldn't.
How do you use sunshine ?

I am wanting to go back to a stock recovery from TWRP. as Im going to pass this M8 on and buy and unlocked one, so...
my phone is:
Unlocked Bootloader,
Rooted with SUper SU
Using TWRP
My M8 is still S-ON and still has O2s stock 4.20.201.6 (LP 501) rom on it.
Ive found a nandroid backup from O2 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
extracted the recovery, but its 1.54.206.5
Would it be safe to flash through fastboot or would i need the matching recovery for the rom
Or because I havent done anything to the rom itself, can I simply restore recovery
Any Advice would be great
Thanks
EDIT
Hmm.... As I havent actually done anything to it, it looks like I just have to UnRoot the M8.,

You need the 4.20.201.6 stock recovery.
You may not be able to boot with 1.54.206.5 recovery

Not so far as Im aware. I know Samsung include an "Easy Mode" on their devices, but i cant remember one on the M8.. Ive checked in Both "Personalise" and "Display" in Settings, but I cant see an Easy mode.
Unless it was removed in LP 501, I dont know
It should be under Settings>Personalise>Home (or it is for me on the unbranded 4.16.401.10 build)
Ah I'm o2 branded so I presume o2 took it out or mine has bug it runs perfect no issues at all just no Easymode tried installing Google now launcher see if that made it shows to no avail and I'm 4.20.206.1 Build

You're not the first to say it's missing in a branded device. TBH it's not even worth worrying about, it's pretty useless!
Why not just try and get s-off? You will then be able to have an unlocked device.
