Stock Sense WWE EU RUU - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How long do these normally take to be posted by HTC after the launch of a device?

There are two types of ruu's. The first would be an .exe ruu, these come directly from htc and well you run them on your computer. These are hit and miss, sometimes they get released others they don't usually I've seen them when an update is released. Now the second type is just a zip compiled from a raw system pull. BUT. Please don't quote me on this and don't flame either lol. This one I believe we just have to wait for someone to compile it

Yeah it does. I just want to to debrand my phone. I have S-OFF, I've changed CID, Don't wanna do it from a nandroid backup so I want the generic EU software from HTC so I get OTAs.

You can do it with a bit of thought...
1. Use the 1.54.401.5 firmware package posted by @mike1986. to make sure you're on the latest build
2. Flash the stock, odexed 1.54.401.5 ROM also posted by @mike1986. to go back to 100% stock (and it's not a Nandroid)
3. Flash the 1.54.401.5 stock recovery
4. Set CID to HTC__001
That'll get you back as if you'd used an RUU

So following these steps gets you to an unlocked version of the phone correct? (Just confirming that cid is the unlocked version) I'm on tmobile s-off also waiting for a RUU but I may just do this instead. Also I'll need to change the mid, any clue what that is?

Yes it would give you the unbranded, EU M8_UL but you'd probably have to change the MID as well and I don't know what that is (although I'm sure someone else can help on that front)

Don't think you should have to change MID. Think that's only when you have bought device in a totally different region. EU devices whether branded or not should be OP6B10000

Perhaps report it in the SuperSU thread on here?

Even Superuser wasn't properly rooting. App installed but wouldn't give # in shell.
I wonder if there's another .10 file I can try and flash.
If not, can I reset tampered from in ARHD, then flash stock after?

[Q] HTC One X update hboot CID HTCCN701

Hello everyone,
I have an international HTC One X with CID HTCCN701, and I would like to install CM10.1.
I am not a noob , and I have already installed a Jelly Bean ROM after unlocking. However, I am currently on hboot version 1.12 S-ON Unlocked, and I could not find a hboot that is for my CID which fits the requirements (Version 1.28 or higher)
Moreover, though I know how to flash hboot, it would be great if anyone can provide a method to update hboot without changing the present ROM, recovery, and data on the device.
Thank you!
P.S. Please do not tell me to search; I cannot find a firmware here for HTCCN701
Does anyone have a solution?
Check for a newer hboot here

try to install it, if it fails to pass htc sig and cid check, it wont do any harm
Yes, I think there is 1.29 RUU, but isn't the hboot contained in it not up to date?
And, I have already checked for updates when I was on stock ROM back in mid June.

Thanks, but are you sure it will just refuse to flash if it is a fake? Because I saw on the forums that if a wrong firmware is flashed, the device could be bricked.
Another question is that is it possible to upgrade hboot without modifying system and data?

You would need s-off for it to flash if it's fake and upgrading the hboot doesn't wipe system or data , although unlocking the boot loader does

[Q] Is there anyway to bring the M8 on T-mobile back to stock ?

I have rooted and flashed a custom recovery on my HTC One M8, only to find out that firewater s-off doesn't work on my phone. Now there is a tampered notification on Hboot and I cannot get OTA updates. Is there a RUU zip or stock ROM RUU .exe for the T-Mobile version of it ? Please help me !?

HTC has not released an RUU for the HTC One M8 yet so you have to wait. that's why I'm still stock not even root or custom recovery. Always have a way to go back to complete stock before making any mods if you are not sure.

Technically you can just install the custom recovery, then Nandroid your current Rom IMG after that and back it up to the external SD card or Cloud Storage if you wanna go back to "stock/rooted" Before you play with any Roms.
Tho yes I understand your view. I was rooted on 4.4.2 on my bootloader locked Republic Wireless Moto X and it had a force close settings issue...
Needless to say I accidentally wiped my system and was stuck having to RSD Lite back to 4.4.2 stock unrooted because of that, thus loosing root forever (as they patched the exploit in 4.4.2 and the new bootloader doesn't allow for downgrading back to 4.2.

Are you sure you need S-OFF for HK? I thought I read here someone was able to use the S-ON download from the HK thread and it worked.
Can the RUU be run even if you convert to GPE or is there more to the process?

Fully Working Harman / Kardon "conversion" for all HTC ONE M8 variants! - May 05
It's better off you are S off, but you can still attempt it. The thing is if you need to update the drivers, it is strongly recommended to be S off. For 25 dollars, I used sunshine and was able to get s off. Depends on how bad you want it, I suppose.
The thing is, I have a T-Mobile M8 and my device will not allow me at all to S-off. I tried firewater with no dice. So I'm willing to pay a bit to get S-Off.

Was it possible to change CID just to become unbranded?

Not sure have this being ask before. So,I have bought a Hk version of m8 HTC_622. Was thinking of changing from CID HTC_622 to HTC_044 (my country ) or 001(WWE). Was this process possible? How do I know my m8 is branded? I have downloaded the CID getter from Google play store. Which show HTC_622. My phone does come with some bloat wear like Tvb. But it can be removed or disabled. Any idea guys? Thanks in advance.

You need to s-off your device then you can change the cid, you need either firewater for that and if it doesn't work you have to use sunshine which costs around 25$ but it will s-off your device for sure...but why changing cid? Shouldn't be that cid a WWE one? Or amercian one? Also if you change the cid to one of the you want you need to install a stock WWE/Europe Rom

For changing cid you just need s-off , to get s-off you need root your device, but maybe the newest build of sunshine apk will temp root it. But your device Is a Sprint one right? So normally you need to go to one m8 Sprint forum for s-off and all other things because I think if you just change your cid to wwe user Europe one you won't be able to get ota as your stock Rom is a Sprint one but you need then wwe or Europe Rom...

Yeah I did an update before doing the whole process and I checked twice to make sure I was up to date after that and I am. Also I downloaded the latest TWRP directly from there site and fastboot flashed it and everything is fine except one thing . When I go flash a Rom or backup up Rom it throws out 3 lines of error about something I don't rememeber but everything still flashed and backs up so idk and its the latest TWRP I would suspect.
Edit: aside from the TWRP concern, am I suppose to flash a certain firmware before flashing roms? I've had an m8 before and never had to flash firmwares for most roms I used without issue.

Most of the new rom are saying you need 3.x firmware
i'm Stock rooted so I'm not sure ..never tried
I also already took all the Developer Edition Updates before flashing the custom recovery and SuperSU

You don't really want to be helped It seems, or rather you don't seem like you really want to contribute to finding a solution to the problem, rather expecting others to do it for you
You don't provide any details and have vague answers as well, you don't even seem like you want to bother with it...
"Yeah I'm not sure then"
"throws out 3 lines of error about something I don't rememeber"
What software version are you on now?
What version ROM did you try to download i.e ARHD 21.0, Viper 3.0 etc etc ?
Provide more details, how do you expect others to help you if you don't/can't/won't put some effort into this.

If you have never flashed firmware, or updated through a carrier OTA to 4.4.4, then that is your problem.
You need firmware, or an older version ROM.
Go into fastboot (hold down power and vol. down) and look at the hboot and OS numbers.
For 4.4.4 ROMs to work, they should be:
hboot-3.19.0.0000
OS-3.28.401.6(or.7)

OS 3.xx.502.x He's not international so it won't definitely be the same number for him.
Besides he's on AT&T and I don't think they moved further than 2.23.502.3(I might be mistaken).
Seeing as he's S-OFF he might as well just flash the Developer Edition firmware on his device(AT&T and Dev Edition are same MID and share radio as far as I know) so it should be fine for him.
It'll take him to 3.28.1540.5 Then he'll be good to go on the newer ROMs, but like I said already, this dude can't be bothered.

Your responses are rude to say the least. I've been on xda for years now and have done as much research for My problems that have arised with countless android phones I've owned. I've owned the m8 before but haven't had one in a few months and seeing updates have came out for both international and att recently I wanted to see if firmware flashing was needed as it wasn't when I had the m8 months ago. I want clarification as to why I'm having problems and I don't expect people to hand me the answers. I know that by now. If you want to flaunt your ego around then do it somewhere else. And if I came of across as someone who didn't want to be bothered then I wouldn't have put up this thread to help get clarification to the issues I'm having to I can enjoy such a great device. Rant over. Back on topic please.

I didn't notice that. I originally asked him to post his numbers here, then edited it to just give mine instead for some reason.
I guess I should have stuck with what I originally typed.

That's because months ago the M8 was still on it's original firmware base. The update to 4.4.3 wasn't very long ago.
And I wasn't intending to be rude.
Re-read my post.
I answered your question. I realize you've been on XDA for quite a while. But I explained not knowing how knowledgeable you are with the M8.
And if you don't know about having to update your firmware, well................

You have a lot to say about absolutely nothing. I can't see how any of that has any relevance to the issue at hand. You still haven't bothered to answer any of the questions asked of you. What version are you on? What version did you try to flash?
Oh well, either way, I already said what you should do.

Well just to clarify your response , I've never said I didn't know how to flash firmware. I just wanted updated info to see if that was needed or not. I've already said I'm on latest TWRP And latest att release 4.4.2 radio 1.16. Have not flashed firmware yet. I'm currently in the process of flashing developer edition nandroid backup then stock recovery. I'll get back to you on that

Not really necessary to restore the entire nandroid, you could have just flashed the newer firmware in RUU mode. The firmware is in the OTA Zip collection thread.
Well, unless you're going to go through all the OTA's and have it update that way.
4.4.2 is old...so if you tried a ROM like Viper 3.0 or ARHD 21.0(?) you'd definitely need the 3.x firmware(Android 4.4.4) to have it work properly. Been that way since 4.4.3 don't know why for sure. Developers of Viper it seems doesn't know either and no intention to investigate why it is so.

If you want to get up to date in one quick step, their is a Developer Edition RUU for 3.x.1540.x
all you need is your CID set to BS_US002 and it will work

[Q] Flashing o2 recovery

I am wanting to go back to a stock recovery from TWRP. as Im going to pass this M8 on and buy and unlocked one, so...
my phone is:
Unlocked Bootloader,
Rooted with SUper SU
Using TWRP
My M8 is still S-ON and still has O2s stock 4.20.201.6 (LP 501) rom on it.
Ive found a nandroid backup from O2 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
extracted the recovery, but its 1.54.206.5
Would it be safe to flash through fastboot or would i need the matching recovery for the rom
Or because I havent done anything to the rom itself, can I simply restore recovery
Any Advice would be great
Thanks
EDIT
Hmm.... As I havent actually done anything to it, it looks like I just have to UnRoot the M8.,

You need the 4.20.201.6 stock recovery.
You may not be able to boot with 1.54.206.5 recovery

Not so far as Im aware. I know Samsung include an "Easy Mode" on their devices, but i cant remember one on the M8.. Ive checked in Both "Personalise" and "Display" in Settings, but I cant see an Easy mode.
Unless it was removed in LP 501, I dont know
It should be under Settings>Personalise>Home (or it is for me on the unbranded 4.16.401.10 build)
Ah I'm o2 branded so I presume o2 took it out or mine has bug it runs perfect no issues at all just no Easymode tried installing Google now launcher see if that made it shows to no avail and I'm 4.20.206.1 Build

You're not the first to say it's missing in a branded device. TBH it's not even worth worrying about, it's pretty useless!
Why not just try and get s-off? You will then be able to have an unlocked device.
