Hello everyone about couple of days I was having issues with my boths cameras on the device I took it to the store I bought it from and they fixed it and also update my device software version after that I noticed that now im S-OFF no S-ON that I was before and my cid also changed from HTC_044 (Asia) to CID-11111111 (supercid I think) and my hboot also changed from 1.36 to 1.39 I also noticed I get faster updates than the cid HTC_044 im know on 3.20.401.1 what does it mean ? that I get every update from every cid or faster updates ? or something else ?
thanks in advance

I want to move to other rom because stock one is suck my battery drain very fast and it not hardware problem because it has been replaced with OEM battery about couple of day ago
so how I do that ?
Just unlock the bootloader then flash a custom recovery the flash the rom zip.
When u flash the rom u dont need to flash the boot.img

he can't... once you flash the RUU your phone becomes normal as pretty much every One on this forum... you'll only be able to go back to superCID only if we discover a way to S-OFF
Maybe you can find some more useful info here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222115
but Im S-OFF so I will lose the supercid if I flash RUU ?
and I read that I dont have too unlock bootloader if I S-OFF is that true ?
Yes you need to unlock the bootloader before you can flash !
Edit :
You won't loose s-off by unlocking the bootloader. The possibility is there when you install a ruu.....
so how exactly S-OFF help me here ? XD
thatp pretty weird before i take my HOX to fix it was on Relock cause I opened the bootloader then relock to use waranty and now it says LOCKED no RELOCKED how is this possible ?
and how the technican made my device S-OFF and SUEPRCID 1111111 ?
That's something i don't know exactly, they probably have HTC certified methods of unlocking and relocking to fix certain locked partitions of the phone.

ok so if I want to flash rom I dont need to flash the kernel (boot.img) because I S-OFF Right ?
and if I want to go back to stock I can't flash RUU file because it will change my Super Cid to regular Cid ?

Lets assume that to be safe. Always do it via a firmware flash or a stock nandroid backup. Just to be safe.
And yes you don't need to flash the boot.img manually. But as additional info :
A lot of devs have taken out the script that flashes the boot.img when installing the rom. So with a lot of roms you still have to flash the boot.img with fastboot commands.
and one more question super cid devices (non rooted or bootloader unlocked) get OTA updates faster then other cids ?
and if I go back to stock via RUU it wont change my device to S-ON right ? and there's anyway to bring the Super cid back ?

ROMs developers and ROMs users - be aware!
I know this thread doesn't contain any "created" thing, but it's quite important to let every developer here know, that their boot.img flashing commands in updater-script doesn't work with S-ON devices. We didn't realize it quickly because there are no custom kernels yet. But no matter if you use package_extract_file or write_raw_image or dd command - this wont work for most users here with just htcdev.com unlocked devices.
So the only solution for now is to download custom ROM, extract boot.img from inside it if developer didn't provide it separately (like I did) and flash it in fastboot mode using following command:
fastboot flash boot <boot_name.img>
f.g.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash boot boot_2.0.0.img
etc...
Also keep in mind that fastboot flash is the only way to use custom boot.img because fastboot boot doesn't work yet either.
I really hope we'll get S-OFF possibility soon!
Very Good!
Thanks!
Thank you mike for being with us and guiding the development..what would it be without you!!!

There are some very lucky few people who just so happen to get a factory s-off device, it's very much possible. Just highly unlikely for most people.

My device is from HTC for testing and adv (to my blog) purpose, after this I buy it from HTC directly.
So mike, please tell me, I have to flash this to my s-off device?
I had the same question because when I flashed the ROM it doesn't seem like changing the kernel name under about. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hmmm ... Seems like there is no change in name under Kernel version after flashing the kernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img). Is it that the developer hasn't changed the name of the kernel or is it not flashed properly?
What a pain to keep having to go to the computer to flash boot.img with every rom release. S-OFF needs to come sooner rather than later. Argh.

No, it's not as easy as that. He's just got the security flag set to off. We won't be able to push any different hboot's while we're S-ON. It's just a case of finding an exploit to push the security flag to off while getting around all the protection that is surrounding it.

As there are no customized kernels up to now, the devs have no reason to change name of the kernel. It's still stock kernel after all .

Mike, I guess this means nandroid restores won't work automatically either and the backed up boot.img will need to be pushed by fastboot.

Why is that all I want to do is roll back from the OTA to the previous state before any OTA updates as I can no longer access the beats audio settings I have no interest yet in rooting the device with a custom firmware unless i really have to as like I said i am a complete noob to all this.

Now...I am a regular ROM Flasher on my DHD ....and want to Flash the Custom ROM....
Now I have gone thru' the All in One Toolkit by Hasoon and found it is the best way forward....
My Question:
Will I be able to Flash and do the works if my HOX is on JB or I will have to Downgrade it to ICS ??
though unrelated .....to HOX the only reason I am asking this is 'cause I bricked a Perfectly New Magic of one of my friends just a cpl of weeks ago.....so just making sure I dont brick another phone
Any info will be highly appreciated.....

Make sure you have hboot 1.31+ so that it can run JB roms...
If you got your bootloader unlocked, then flash a custom recovery like CWM/TWRP and then go ahead with ROM flashing...
make sure to flash the boot.img from fastboot though! I don't think DHD was s-on...

Hello everyone,
I have an international HTC One X with CID HTCCN701, and I would like to install CM10.1.
I am not a noob , and I have already installed a Jelly Bean ROM after unlocking. However, I am currently on hboot version 1.12 S-ON Unlocked, and I could not find a hboot that is for my CID which fits the requirements (Version 1.28 or higher)
Moreover, though I know how to flash hboot, it would be great if anyone can provide a method to update hboot without changing the present ROM, recovery, and data on the device.
Thank you!
P.S. Please do not tell me to search; I cannot find a firmware here for HTCCN701
Does anyone have a solution?

try to install it, if it fails to pass htc sig and cid check, it wont do any harm
Yes, I think there is 1.29 RUU, but isn't the hboot contained in it not up to date?
And, I have already checked for updates when I was on stock ROM back in mid June.

Thanks, but are you sure it will just refuse to flash if it is a fake? Because I saw on the forums that if a wrong firmware is flashed, the device could be bricked.
Another question is that is it possible to upgrade hboot without modifying system and data?

You would need s-off for it to flash if it's fake and upgrading the hboot doesn't wipe system or data , although unlocking the boot loader does

Soff unlocks the whole system to be written or something.
Some mods require this.
You can try temproot before unlocking your device with htcdev.

Can you give an example which mods, when you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery you can push superuser to gain root on your stock rom. Or install any rom you like including mods......they mostly just need root.
S off will allow you to change cid (carrier I'd) of phone, you can make it super cid which will allow you to flash a y firmware you like for any m8 varient.
You will also be able to flash the adsp hk update for hk sound to work fully on models that the normal mod won't work
It will also allow you to switch between GPE and sense so long as you have a ruu image for each
It will also allow you to totally brick your phone if you don't understand what your doing
Better stick to HTC dev unlock as Rom and kernals can be flashed no problem , if it's a sense device GPE, cyan, asop and sense roms should work fine
Only issue you might get is Verizon or other USA specific
