Questions Regarding Flashing CM10 - HTC One V

Happily I have flashed the new CM10 and rooted, and it is one of the greatest ROM's I have seen so far. But and update came out and Im wondering if I have to reflash the boot.img again or just flash the zip only to update it. I already have CM10 installed.
Also small question. What are your guys recommended undervolt values? I looked all over forums but could not find anything.

Always recommended-flash boot.img-wipe-flash ROM...but since ROM is same.
..wipe is not necessary..

Its not necessary that you always flash the kernel after a ROM update.. unless the thread specifies to do so .

New to gs2

Sup guys, just got my gs2 and almost let my buddy do it but he messed his up pretty good. What's a good way to root and flash roms on this phone and what's a good stable rom? Thanks guys for helping out.

Check the stickies, in the general section. But basically if you're on 2.3.5 use one click then rom manager.
If on 2.3.6 use odin and flash cwm then use cwm to flash a rom

Once you have clockwork mod recovery on your sgs2 you can install custom roms, and most importantly, make backups. this should be your 1st order of business.

Definitely read the stickies/FAQs.
This is what I used to root my SG2 last week:

As far as ROMs, I'm currently on Darkside 2.3 and it's perfect for me.
Edit:
After rooting and before flashing the ROM, I forgot to mention that I followed this to install CWM:

Install bricked kernel on Cm10.

Hi all.
I'm using Seadersn's 10162012 build which includes bricked kernel AFAIK. I've always just used default supported kernels up to now.
Do I need to flash modules?
Seems to be running fine as is but I don't want to overlook stuff if its needed for functionalities or running smoothly.

When you flash the Bricked kernel (which is the default kernel in CM10 these days), the ROM zip file that you flash from Recovery also has the kernel modules. So first you flash the boot.img on fastboot, then when you flash the ROM zip, the modules (which are inside it) also get flashed. That's why you don't need to flash modules separately.
When you want to use another AOSP kernel with CM10, then you flash the boot.img of that kernel, then the ROM zip, and then the modules of the new AOSP kernel you are flashing (because the ROM zip does not contain it).
Hope that answers your question.
I think it does.... thanks for that

Can't yet reply on dev threads so hopefully I'll get an answer here.
Since the last update my phone seems to take about twice as long to charge.
The battery life is much improved with this latest flash so I'm happy to put up with it but is there anything I can do to improve this?

Cant flash any kernels on my hox quadcore

i tried both with viper x 3.3.1 and insertcoin v15.2.0. Every time I try to flash bricked kernel it flashes the kernel and then bootloop. I would really appreciate if someone would give me a zip file of faux kernel. I only find moduls on this site...
Please help I need a kernel.

Currently there are no available custom kernels for the jelly bean base, because htc didnt release the kernel source code yet. All you can use will be the stock htc kernel that is also incorporated inside the rom when you extract it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is the custom-stock kernel made by TripNDroid from Tegra3 references and from HOX+ source.
Just reflash the rom to fix the modules and reflash the original boot.img .....

Yeah , and quit flashing ICS kernel onto JB rom , that can lead into some issues, bigger then you think.
Ok got it. Staying with viper x 3.2.2 and waiting for jb kernels to be created. When is htc giving the source to the devs?

They should release the code about 90 days after the release.....but nobody knows for sure !

You need stock recovery not cwm
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
I came here with the same issue, the update today wouldn't apply (rooted, stock, cwm touch).
I now know the stock recovery is required after the last post.
my next question now is...can I revert to the stock recovery until I can install the update, and if so would that be the 'recovery.img' that is in the folder with the full backup of my stock ROM?
And if that's the case, do I fastboot flash that as I did to install cwm?
If not, how do I revert to stock recovery?
Thanks.
*EDIT* - NVM I found the information myself here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705484
Not available for my HTC One V, completely stock. Its on 2.24.720.1. How to update the ota update?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28399829
It's kernel related. You have to find kernel that support higher overclock.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
There is various kernels in the Original development thread that support overclock.
Make sure yo read the OP and figure out which is best for you and your phone.

Could be a few issues.
You could be on an old version of JellyBam that does not use the 3.4 kernel. You also could have downloaded the wrong kernel from the page linked. If you could give us your ROM version that would help.
Its 7.5.0
But do u have to flash a kernel with odin

Kernels are flashed in recovery, not Odin. The problem may be the recent display changes in KT's kernel. You may want to check his thread for an earlier build (pre 4/19) before the display commits were added.

correct. flash his 4/11 release.
and if you ever find yourself in a bootloop from flashing the wrong kernel, just flash the correct kernel in recovery. wipe cache/dalvik, fix permissions and reboot. good to go without having to restore or reset anything.
also, i'd stick with ROMs in this forum that are supported by the dev.
Closing this one...as OP has posted duplicate thread here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246321
