[Q] Firmware.zip on VODAP102 CID - HTC One X

hello guys, I want to know if the risk brick by flashing the firmware.zip JB on my HOX with cid VODAP102: Vodafone UK

so the risk of bricking your hox is not really big if you follow the instrutions. if your CID is supported it just takes some commands in the terminal and youre ready to go! on wich hboot is your phone now and to wich version are you up to upgrade? is ist 1.31 or higher?

VODAP102 CID is not supported for JB update.
You could try ICJ, or some other AOSP ROM, but not the ones that are CID seensitive.

You'll get an error, cause it's not a valid CID.

I believe you can install it on any HOX (CID independent). Note that it's not Sense ROM, but AOSP. Go to Lord's thread and read more.

and if I try to install firmware.zip with OTG cable + java goldcard.
With the gold card is not verifying the signature, right?

java goldcard doesnt work with One X AFAIK

There are many threads and posts about it here.

There's no way around signature verification, so only thing you can do is be patient.

[Q] JB sense roms open to ALL CIDs yet?

I noticed on footballs onemaximus the CID list has been removed,
Does this mean you can now flash to JB independent of your CID?
Currently on Hboot 12.1000 so I'm guessing I'd have to update it. If I do update the hboot will my old ISC rom still work or will I have to flash to JB then?
Do you mean 1.12?
No, not all CIDs have it yet.

[Q] Correct RUU and back to stock

Hello to all,
I have a problem with my One X because when I want to update my android the update is downloaded but not installed ( i receive an error which says that my android version isn't ok and is not safe to install this update). Anyway ....I want to install a stock version of android on my phone and i don't know how to choose the correct RUU. My CID is HTC_001 and my radio version is 1.1204.105.14. Can anyone give me a link for downloading the correct RUU and tell me the correct steps to install it?
You need the main version
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post back please

Maybe the 2.17 version prior to this one because of driver conflict. Or the 3.14.401.27 ?
Seen lately that going directly to hboot 1.39 failed ....
Driver conflict?
Going to any JB RUU from ICS requires flashing the firmware I think.
The 2.17.401 should work, and OTA from there... Might be easier if a little more time consuming.

Yeah what i understood in the thread was that he was on stock 2.17 software and tried to flash to 3.14.401.31 and it didn't work, flashed the .27 ruu and it did work.....so here was a conflict of some kind. Its just a heads up if it doesn't work here. Still don't know exactly .... could also be his pc that was conflicting, but it was a little strange

[Q] Can i flash any RUU from other country in my HOX S-off?

The details of my phone shown in fastboot is as shown below:
ENDEAVORU XE SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-11111111
HBOOT-0.96.0000
CPLD-None
MICROP-None
RADIO-1.1204.105.14

CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW secure boot: disabled
MODEM PATH: OFF
May 10 2012, 01:32:07
The software number is 1.29.415.11
From this details the mobile is S-OFF and has supercid. Am i right?(Sorry newbie)
I have already unlocked its bootloader and rooted it. But can i update it to jelly bean using any RUU?(as it is S-OFF)(Without using any custom roms)
From this thread-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189048 i see that my phone is HTC Arabic with no JB updates.. ..
Can i update it using another countries' RUU? Will it be any problem?.. please help!!

Thanks a lot Mr Hofs.. .. That means i can use any RUU. But i can only see JB in asia and european RUU. There is no JB update in India. So do I need to update anything? I mean hboot or anything else before flashing RUU or will the RUU do it on its own?
I can see different software numbers of each countries' RUU.Will it be any problem?
And will the change in the radio from 1.1204.105.14 to 5.xxxxx be any problem with carriers? I am residing in India.
Thanks a lot in advance!!..
From what i have seen its no problem, you may have language problems because your native language might not be implemented. But if you have an Indian ruu you can always return to that. You are fully capable of downgrading and upgrading the hboot.
So if you install a 3.14 ruu you can also return to a 1.29 ruu
Edit : in this thread you can find all sorts of ruu's. Also the 2.17.415

Wow!! thts grt!.. ..Actually the phone has Arabic RUU with middle eastern english. I think I will flash this-RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.14.707.24_Ra dio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe
It has world wide english. Mr Hofs last question can i directly use the above RUU or do i have to go step wise? My phone is currently running android 4.03 with this RUU-
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_ARA_1.29.415.11_Radio_1. 1204.105.14_release_260742_signed.exe
Since its s-off you should be able to install it directly, im not sure if you need to relock the bootloader for s-off devices to correctly install the ruu.
At least the command to relock it is :
Fastboot oem lock
After all that you can unlock again and use a custom rom or stay on stock, whatever you choose

Thanks a lot!! I will try the Asian RUU..In case of any problem will a nandroid backup from CWM do the trick?
And according to you which is the best JB custom rom?
Edit: Do i need to upgrade the firmware manually for JB or will the RUU do it on its own?

Yes. Nandroid backup is always recommended... But since you have a s-off device, you can run any ruu out here (upgrade + downgrade) So returning to a working os shouldn't be a problem for you
Why don't you try a few roms from the development section and settle on the one which suits you the best?! all roms are good! It's the end user who has to decide which he likes ... + rom comparison isn't allowed in xda...

Hey Arnab,
I just happened to stumble across your post. I have a similar device (Endeavor XE S-OFF with hboot 1.12) and I have been trying to get a custom 4.4 rom update on this. But have been unsuccessful so far (here's the link to my problem description and what all I have tried).
I see that your post is fairly old and I'm assuming that you were able to upgrade your HOX to JB and further. Can you pls share your experience and any tips ?
thanks,
Kunal

Hi Thant,
You mean I should flash a JB firmware or ICS ? Which one exactly ?
The problem for me is identifying which one to use (considering I'm super-cid and as mentioned by you, thankfully, that I have a test device). I have already tried a few RUUs and no success.
I just don't want to brick it. Hope you understand.
thanks,

What do you have actually ? A s-off device with hboot 1.73 or that ^^
You need at least a hboot 1.36/1.39 for that rom....things about ruu's are already described in your precious threads.
So get the hboot up, flash a custom recovery and install the rom, how to is described everywhere around in tuts and stickies.....probably even in the OP of the rom thread !
Reading is a gift....use it

SuperCID question

I'm S-off but I never thought at the time to set superCID to 11111111, now I believe I have to have SuperCID set to this in order to flash firmware update, my question is how do I go about doing this without having to do firewater S-off again?
You don't have to redo S-Off again.
As long as your device is S-Off, simply reboot to bootloader/fastboot mode
then run command
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Good stuff cheers mate

I have the unbranded M8, with the CID: BS_US001. Do I need SuperCID if I only want to flash custom ROMs? I'm just wondering if it's better to have it and not need it? I'm s-off and rooted, btw.

super CID normally only helps if your trying to flash firmware meant for a different region / type.
i use a tmobile m8 so my CID is TMOB010 if i remember right lols....
if i feel like flashing my firmware to GPE so that i can fully convert the phone to GPE phone they i need superCID.
thats the best example.
I went ahead and changed it. I figured what the hell.
