[Q] Correct RUU and back to stock - HTC One X

Hello to all,
I have a problem with my One X because when I want to update my android the update is downloaded but not installed ( i receive an error which says that my android version isn't ok and is not safe to install this update). Anyway ....I want to install a stock version of android on my phone and i don't know how to choose the correct RUU. My CID is HTC_001 and my radio version is 1.1204.105.14. Can anyone give me a link for downloading the correct RUU and tell me the correct steps to install it?

You need the main version
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post back please

Maybe the 2.17 version prior to this one because of driver conflict. Or the 3.14.401.27 ?
Seen lately that going directly to hboot 1.39 failed ....

Driver conflict?
Going to any JB RUU from ICS requires flashing the firmware I think.
The 2.17.401 should work, and OTA from there... Might be easier if a little more time consuming.

Yeah what i understood in the thread was that he was on stock 2.17 software and tried to flash to 3.14.401.31 and it didn't work, flashed the .27 ruu and it did work.....so here was a conflict of some kind. Its just a heads up if it doesn't work here. Still don't know exactly .... could also be his pc that was conflicting, but it was a little strange

you can't go back to stock cause the JB RUUs aren't yet available, the only way you can go back is by flashing a nandroid backup...if you don't have it ask someone that has your exact CID if he could provide one to you
take a look also here

Looks like the RUU hasn't been released.
Somewhere there is a guide on how to download an older RUU (like 1.28.111.x in your case) and flash it chevRON and boot.ing from it, then, hopefully you can OTA back to 1.29, or maybe find the OTA and convince it to install.

Hmm i think you are stuck to a custom rom for a while until there is a matching nandroid or ruu available, i don't see them......but you say the phone is bootlooping ?
What has been changed ?
You can get into the bootloader ? If yes , you can flash the boot.img file from the rom again and you can flash the rom itself again .....

Thnx ...I was able to flash the custom rom again...and it booted properly...but still how can i go back to stock?
Well basically you need to find a ruu that matches the main version number, you need one exactly like that one starting with 1.28 or 1.29 or 3.14 then you can return to stock.....
Or you need a nandroid backup matching the cid and main version
I checked htcruu.com but there is no ruu for you, only one with a lower version number (but you can't use that one because downgrading is not possible)
Maybe there is one available on the file factory but i don't have an account there

You have to read the instructions how to, i have never done this method so i know as much as you do about it
But yes you have to do some reboot locking and flashing procedures, that's all i know about it
But backup the sdcard before you start doing the updating because locking and Re-unlocking wipes everything !!!

[Q] Return to original rom and still not get OTA update

hi guys
im new in HTC ONE X-unbrande
i have CID HTC__J15
2.17.401.2 ver
when i buy the phone i have viper rom so i flash and wipe it and go back to the original rom
im install the:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
now i have stock HOX and it work great , but i dont get the OTA JB
is it ok or i miss something,
thx alot guys
Did you check manually for updates ?
yes but still nothing,
it say that "my phone is up to date and no new update"
Keep trying from time to time....it should pop up eventually
do any one know when i need to see it... or i need to do somthing else
If you used the ruu successful, then the only way is to check manually for the update
can i download OTA file and Install it manually,
and if i do what file i need to look for?
Look for a OTA RUU file, probably wont find it because HTC has been waving around with lawsuits to people who host or distribute those files .....
i read here that i need to update my Hboot to get OTA JB ... is it right
i have 1.12.0000
and how i do it and what number i need to look for ... thx you all

You have run the ruu , the phone is full stock on android 4.0.4 sense 4.1.....to obtain the JB update you must be able to update the official way. Settings - info - softwareupdates......that will bring you to the JB hboot and a stock JB rom. Can't say much more about it
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda app-developers app
im trying over a mounth to get the JB but still nothing,
im sure that i miss somthing that not bring me the OTA JB.
i read here that people with Hboot 1.12.0000 not get the OTA JB and after they update it the get it... maybe im wrong i dont know
Have a look to see if your ota is here, see 2nd post for install instructions
If you ota is not in the first post read all the comments as it may be in one of those.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606676
how i know wich one i need , i have CID__J15 that the only thing i know ??
somthing more , i install this RUU to returne to original ROM and it work fine
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radi o_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
Or go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
And update the hboot manually
Your software should be lifted to **.415.** you can't use the 3.14.401 ruu's because your cid is not listed in that ruu !
You need an ota or a ruu with **.4!5.** number in it

As far as I know, there is no RUU for this CID, but you could use nandroid instead. Try HERE, you will find what you need.
Also, check you main version, this is also important when choosing correct nandroid (and RUU, also).

I thought you were on JB already, sorry.
If you want to upgrade, use 2.17.161.4 nandroid, then flash OTA update, and then just choose custom ROM you want, or stay with crappy Voda stock :crying:
I went exactly the same way, and my One X is rocking Renovate Final 2 with xm #192. I love it!

So I shoud be just fine if I choose to nandrestore to 2.17.161.4 CID VODAP001, since the mainver is the same? Just for confirmation, I dont like to mess things up.
What happens to my CID after restore, since it is different? And my HBOOT?

I am not really sure about downgrading. Try searching here, I remember there were some threads about it.
CID is hardcoded to your phone, so it cannot be changed unless S-OFF (which is not coming soon to One X). HBOOT also should remain the same.
But, why in the world you would go back? Why don't you flash some custom ROM instead and enjoy the life? I would strongly recommend you to try Renovate, and then decide. :good:
Yeah with that nandroid you can fool the bootloader, restore it and also flash back the stock 2.17 stock recovery. You should be able to update to JB stock with official ota.
Your cid will be listed as the same as the nandroid backup but will be corrected when you do the ota.

If you want to sell it, it's just as good as ICS stock. If you want to service it, it's the same.
Nandroid that I posted is made from pure Voda JB stock, just after the OTA upgrade.

Just a little warning to Solarr - because I've done it. You may need to follow this procedure:
What if i get MD5 Mismatch?
type in teminal:
Code:
adb shell
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/Name_of_the_nandbackup_folder
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5

because the folder name may not be cwm compatible. Don't worry, if you get the mismatch message, just do the above, and you will be alright. :good:
At first boot, you will get one small OTA first, and then the big one with JB update.
Good luck!

[Q] Can't flash the device to stock rom using RUU

Hi,
I'm trying to restore from custom rom to stock rom.
My phone is CID ORANG216 and I'm using xx.xx.65.xx RUU releases.
I have 2 relevant files:
The RUU exe - RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Orange_CH-Generic_2.17.65.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_275590_signed.exe
OTA UPDATE for the device - OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_Orange_CH-Generic_3.16.65.2-2.17.65.2_release_296426gf2xgpisn8xs0fti
After flashing the stock recovery, boot_signed.img, rebootRUU, the RUU update fails because of version failure, I suspect that the HBOOT version is the trouble maker.
My phone is unlocked with S-ON with HBOOT 1.36 and the HBOOT in the RUU is 1.12 .
Due to S-ON I cant change the hboot.
I can't seem to find a workaround for it and install the RUU.
Any ideas??
I even thought about compiling the latest JB release from htcdev development center and flash it...

You need to relock the bootloader to use install RUU . It has nothing to do with hboot . Just take note that you have to use the RUU that is on the same build or higher .

Like I mentioned . You have to look for the version that's the same with yours or higher to use the RUU . I guess you can't go back to stock until you find the RUU of your version or higher . Maybe you could try a stock ROM nand backup ?
Here are stock backups

Just lock your bootloader using fastboot oem lock and run this RUU with admin privileges..

I don't think your questions relate to the subject here.
Anyway, custom roms are based on the stock rom and most of the times include a file called firmware.zip, look it up in the costum_rom.zip file.
hboot updates are tricky on this device and for upgrading it (from ICS to JB supported hboot) you need a special firmware built for your specific htc one x model (look at the manuals for more instructions).
For the battery saving, I think it depends on the rom you install and not the kernel (or maybe both because they come together?), check out for old posts about that issue, I'm sure its not the first time someone asks about it.
hope it helps
