Came across several threads here at XDA regarding other phones like the Samsung Galaxy W, Huawei phones, etc running GB while using updated Adreno 205 drivers. My question is, is it possible to port these drivers to our phone? I tried to flash them and it was a no go. Got past the boot logo but that was it.
Here's what I am referring to:
Samsung Galaxy W
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376462
In the thread above it details the Galaxy W and the Huawei Honor running the same specs as the Xperia PLAY. But they are running newer drivers for the Adreno 205 then ours. Possible to port these drivers to our phone?
Specs of the Huawei:

Specs of the Galaxy W:

Possible?
Was looking to this recently, based on what I found, is only possible if you have 2.6.35.7 kernel running, not sure though.

There's no newer drivers than what you have

Hi,
Android is using the Linux kernel, so all drivers are built into it.
Hence only way to update drivers is to upgrade the ROM. I saw elsewhere they are aiting for the linux 3.x kernel to update some drivers. But I think its only the ICS ROMs that will use this kernel.
Could be the odd driver updated outside the kernel itself, and maybe the graphics is one of those. Either way, look for updated ROMs.

Well some drivers were made flashable from the GB leaked ruu ages ago, from HTC. they were the last desire drivers we got. Dont forget our chipset drivers are proprietory.
Yeah they're hacking the kernel and source to get the hardware on ics working, but this will never provide feasible driver updates

Rooting Generic Tablet for Android 4.2.2 and A23
I have just got a Chinese Generic 9" Tablet with A23 Allwinner CPU dual core. Can I follow the same process as for ICS and JB above or do I need something different>. It has 512MB memory [DDR3] and 8 GB internal storeage. Could my smallish memory be an issue with this procedure?
Thanks & Cheers. JR
Hey guys.
Coming from Desire S that went swimming, I found Ace 2 pretty similar, but missing more support in terms of ROMs.
In Desire S part of forum, there is a thread that has all the ROMs linked in one post, separated by android version. Could somebody do that?
Which ROM is currently newest and fastest?
Also, when can we expect 4.3 ROM to be available? Excuse my ignorance, but I really dont know what it takes for a ROM to be compiled on this device? I always thought that android is backward compatible with older devices..

answer:
1. all roms on 1 post are on ace 2 general section. please search before asking...
unfortunately, ace 2‘s jb still has lag eventhough already stable. Most people use CM..
2. Recent news, ace 2 only support until 4.2.2. source: www.sammobile.com/2013/03/18/galaxy-s-ii-galaxy-note-to-get-android-4-2-2-android-5-0-for-the-galaxy-s-iii-galaxy-note-ii/

Which one is "best"? Whats with that GPS bug?
4.2.2 is last for official version, but why cannot 4.3 be ported to this hardware? What are limitations?

1. you still can‘t use gps. I use sygic and when I opened it, it force closed automatically. no one is the best at this cm‘s rom because now there is only one cm builder (cm10 is dh.harald and cm10.1 is bagnzor. CM 10 is 4.1.2 and CM 10.1 is 4.2.2. eventhough both of them have bugs, you still can use it as daily purpose. you will get better explanation if you ask on rom‘s thread
2. 4.2.2 for ace 2 is only for CM version and for official is still prediction. Samsung has not release any official ROM 4.2.2 for ace 2, but instead they release ace 3. No further information whether this device will get 4.3 or not (don‘t know the limitation yet, but from the experience of jb I think ram is not high enough for 4.3 and samsung has already release ace 3 so it may be favored to it. From the news also known that samsung only release 4.3 for quadcore devices). So, if you want 4.2.2 but liked ace 2, go buy ace 3. if you want 4.3, go buy nexus series
Hey, actually I am still using the old galaxy 5, which supports officially only from, but one developer gave us cm7,9,10 and now 10.1!!!!

I was looking for information on the steps (if possible) for porting ROM's from other threads such as the galaxy S2. As I understand it the E4GT is just a variant of the S2. I have been able to do this in the past with my old Captivate porting from the i9000 threads. All that was required was to remove the Assert and then flash a compatible Captivate Kernel to then have a new working rom. I'm not sure of the exact differences in the specifications of the devices and any input would be appreciated.
Thank you

It's not that simple. I successfully ported a GSAM rom here and just posted an update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418482
No 4G or MMS. MMS was not possible due to Sprint's enterprise security permissions. 4G was not possible because the ported phone does not have 4G.
I mainly used this thread but there are many:

Port 4.1.2 S6310 on s5360 .... is possible ??
No, different chipset and Processor. If you talk about ROM, we do not yet drivers compatible with android 4.0.4, only 2.3.7 and has some little thing that does not work. And is armv7 architeture, old Y has armv6. :good:
NO. Even the port was sucessful, the size of the ROM is too large.
Sent from my highly pimped Galaxy Pocket.
1. Love doesn't need any reason.
2. Wanna speed up 3G (not 4G LTE)?
