Hey all, got my phone working again Been reading about gpu driver updates for phones. Wondering if there is anything available for the htc desire? (bravo)
Basically looking at things i can do to my phone. Kernels, roms, etc.
Currently running mildwild latest. Its a great rom
Please advise!
There's no newer drivers than what you have

Hi,
Android is using the Linux kernel, so all drivers are built into it.
Hence only way to update drivers is to upgrade the ROM. I saw elsewhere they are aiting for the linux 3.x kernel to update some drivers. But I think its only the ICS ROMs that will use this kernel.
Could be the odd driver updated outside the kernel itself, and maybe the graphics is one of those. Either way, look for updated ROMs.

Well some drivers were made flashable from the GB leaked ruu ages ago, from HTC. they were the last desire drivers we got. Dont forget our chipset drivers are proprietory.
Yeah they're hacking the kernel and source to get the hardware on ics working, but this will never provide feasible driver updates

I try to use my Wiimote as a Controller with my Desire. The Stock Rom showed me an error for doing that. Regarding Posts in other Forums the bluetooth driver is the reason for that.
I have tried it in Stock Rom 2.1 and in the DJ Droid Rom, none of them are using the right drivers i think.
Which Desire Android 2.2 ROM is able to let me use my Wiimote on it, i dont want to flash every ROM to test it or is there a way to install a working Bluetooth Driver into my already flashed DJ Droid ROM?
I tried it with the Software WiimoteController from the Market, the free version.
Please help and put the working Bluetooth Drivers into every next ROMS please.
Anything without sense I believe.

It really depends on what your after, do you want a stock Rom that's updated or a custom
This would be my first destination

thanks alot for the reply i think id rather stick with a stock rom thats updated ill check the link out thank u very much
No worries stock roms are at the very bottom

I dunno what you really mean with newest ROM.
Newest rooted stock ROMs don't give your phone much benefits as well as probable additional bugs.
Custom ROMs have more speed, less bloatware, more memory space, additional functionalities, etc. some even with newer android version.
1. I would find a stable custom ROM (not the experimental ones) so that you can have something more for your phone without the probable bugs.
2. The term bugs, it is relative, perhaps you won't be experiencing it like some people do with the respective ROM.
Hi all!
I have a cdma desire and im just wondering is there a kernel out there with loop support?
I would love to run ubuntu on my phone, but i need loop first to be able to run it in VNC.
Thank you guys for the support and please post links if available!
What rom are you using right now?

It will allow you to run any app you can run on desktop Ubuntu, coming with a Chromium browser, Thunderbird email, Rhythmbox music player and Shotwell photo editor as standard. It will be compatible with any device running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) or above, but unfortunately, you won’t just be able to simply download and install it yourself, since Ubuntu is currently liaising with mobile vendors and carriers to install the software at manufacturing stage.
Then again, all the Ubuntu code will be open-source as it always has been, so custom ROM makers congregated over at XDA-developers and the like should be able to add the OS in custom ROM releases.

How to install a custom kernel on HTC Desire
follow this link---> http://arighi.blogspot.com/2011/01/howto-install-custom-kernel-on-htc.html
Im just trying to search for the solution...
Im sorry, but thats for GSM only.
I have a bravoC (aka desire cdma).
So that ones crumpled up right there.
as you all know that wildfire s has improved hardware security and newly bought WFS cannot be installed with the ICS or JB Roms like Fresh Ice, MIUI v4 and CM9 Roms. After a lot of Searching there is nothing specified on the web on how to bypass this and install ANY ROM in these new WFS phones.
Most of the Phones also have Blck Screen recovery problem so it also has to be solved. this thread is for only those new WFS having same problem as stated above. If anyone founds anything working for these problems do update this thread.
I request the WFS developers to please have a look at this problem and its solution as we the new WFS users also want ICS and JB ROMS on our device.
Regards

the only way this is possible if some dev would buy another wfs to let the new wfs user expirience ics/Jb maybe some donation on a dev interested would help the dev to buy the device

You need to jtag ur phone and rebuild the basics of your phone as like the older phone.
I think its unnecessary. Why u want jb/cm roms for? Show off? Buy a new phone. They are full of bug. Bad for your phones health. Use the rom that runs best in your phone.
If u want volume button skip just remap a volume key.

Edit: Also U may try upgrade to layest radio+HBOOT. Dont flash only radio/Only Hboot. Or try a latest RUU. See if it fix the issue.
Kind of ironic that your name is post reader...

So as I stalked around here for a bit, I never realized that GSM roms and a CDMA phone don't match... either way, I've gone through and purchased an old HTC Desire that I assumed would be able to run ParanoidAndroid and MIUI Jelly Bean without issue... but no. So, any easy way to port Roms? I'm assuming it must just be a different radio or hboot config..
Hello again
When you flash a rom, you don't change radio and hboot. They survive flashing everytime.
There are hardware differences between the two phones.
You could port parandroid by taking cronny's JB as a base, and using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008
Thanks very much, will see what can be done. Also, the issues with these phones on ICS and JB, mainly the tearing and lack of proper acceleration in Camera and 720p playback... are they kernel dependent or driver? Are they stored in the boot.img or elsewhere?

Looks like I'm in business.
