Hi,
my HOX fell down this night two times.
This morning i wanted to take a picture, but my Cam doesnt work??
When I want to open the Cam App the Cam Window appears but its black.
The Mirror doesnt work neither.
Is this a Hardware or a Software Issue?
My Phone is flashed
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I think if you dropped it and didn't do anything to it software wise its very probably a hardware issue
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Reflash it to make sure it isn't a hardware failure.
If it still won't work then, the hardware is dead

The warranty does not cover excessive physical abuse. Usually whenever you buy anything, accidental damage is not covered, which is why you can buy insurance.
Same thing happened to me after the 4.0.4 update ( black screen no camera or mirror ) , after few restart it's started working again .
Same problem here cam stopped work for unknown reason haven't droped the phone added new software or anythink like that.
Worked one day and next day it doesn't
HTC will tell you to try and clear the cache

I broke my first G2 after 6 months of use. Its rooted and everything and while it looks almost new with no physical defects the problem is that the screen won't display any color - just all pitch black backlight. So I called t-mobile and they are sending me a brand new g2 while I send my broken one to HTC for repair. Anyone been in the same situation as me? It's not like they would reprimand my new phone if they see that I rooted the broken G2

Who knows. I will say that I have never heard of anyone getting charged as long as there was no water damage. Please let us know how it goes.

Worked for tmobile. They may charge you a restocking fee if the phone is flagged once it's repaired.

Aha my friend had to pay cause he rooted his droid and forgot to put it back to stock

i broke the screen on my Desire z a while back and had to send it to HTC while it was rooted cause i couldnt do a factory reset on it without the screen being on... they fixed it and sent it right back to me with no issues...
my understanding is that the very first thing they do is do a factory reset on the phone just in case the issue is software related...
so as long as u didnt go S-OFF i think you will be fine... make sure to let us know wt happens once u find out...
3 month bump: T-mobile didn't find out anything so I'm good, got a brand new rooted phone. S-off and everything; the screen just didn't work. I wonder what the person who fixed it was thinking....
And I got it back.. had sent it on due to WiFi issue. I honestly can't tell much since I have moved to a new apartment. The WiFi issue (I think) is gone. I checked this by going to a room where the signal is bad and then pushing my fingers at the WiFi spot. Nothing changed, no connection improvement what so ever. If anything after pushing the area my connection has gotten slightly worse if that certain spot is pushed..opinion on this is welcome.
Just thought is mention that I had sent my phone in for repair with an unlocked bootloader and on arhd 9.2.0 and got it back without having to pay.
That's my story..

I have just arranged a repair of my handset due to WiFi hardware fault. Will be collected by UPS tomorrow. Stock ROM and Re Lock bootloader time!!
That was quite lucky shame some have completely got it back to stock and have had to pay. Its a shame its not very consistent.

Did they return it with the bootloader re-locked and the stock sense rom on? Or was it returned with the ROM you already had on intact?
It was returned repaired the same way I sent it.
Sent in:

Recovery mode
Arhd 9.1.0 (not 9.2.0 just checked)
Returned:

Where you sent it? Directly at HTC service, or to your carrier?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I sent it at my carrier which is a a1 Austrian contract. As far as I have been informed it was sent to htc in Czech. @above, it took a bit less than two weeks in my case. Round 12 days. So two weeks

This is an information, all that we need. Because in that case you're right. Wi-Fi is a hardware problem and they should recognize the warranty. But unfortunately, not always and not everywhere be received correctly.
Exactly my point. I have a friend who threatened and actually wasn't lightly meaning that he would go as far as to suing them if they do not comply. They ended up replacing his nearly one year old phone with a New one. I think in this case it depends more on in which country you are in than anything else.
A.k.a the country is a major influence

im 100% sure that the first thing they do here is just re flasher the original ROM
and i really dont think these ASPs in my county dont(at least the ones at bangalore ) know about locking the boot loader

Haha true! Im from Bangalore as well and experienced a similar thing with my friend's HOX!
He sent it back in for the slightly yellowish spot on the display after rooting and unlocking the bootloader. They called him back and said they will give him a new piece He received a brand new one.
Thanks to to their stupidity, I think we Indians can still claim warranty

did you fond any fix guys
So I sent my phone to repair the WiFi antenna fault while running ARHD, comes back fixed running ARHD without being wiped.
What does this mean
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It means they didn't wipe the device.
Well, they had me sign an agreement on agreeing that my phone would be wiped and explicitly stating lotta times
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
One of the lucky ones.
Mine was also not wiped after WIFI fix. I did however relock and wiped it myself.
good for you
Personally, if possible I would wipe before sending it in!
I think for wifi fix it is literally just securing something inside they may not have even turned it on.
Paperwork prob just covers them in case they do need to wipe it.

You must have signed the papers that said that they"might" wipe your device "if" they feel it is necesary and the best solution for your device to be in best working order.
I do believe that is mostly standard in most countryes.
Just my thought.

I sent in mine to replace the misaligned glass due to the previous repair. It too came back repaired but not wiped. The only thing changed is that date and time is reset.
Yes, they know that the issue is because of a hardware and not because of software, hence it does not make sense for them to wipe the device.. My HOX was fixed in 5 minutes in the repair center, yes 5 minutes without me even dropping the phone.

Nah, it was stating that the phone will be wiped and sent back in factory resetted conditions and HTC is not responsible for any data lost.

Hello everyone,
I have a big problem with my HTC Vision. After I've carried it around a long time in my pocket pants the screen do not respond, only after I turn it on and off several times (2-3 times) i can unlock the screen. And then after unlocking the screen it takes about 5 seconds until the screen shows a strange behavior. e.g. for an entry with the on-screen keyboard several keys will be entered without touching the screen, or on the home screen the cursor moves somewhere and activated anything without touching.
This happens everytime i turn off the screen and turn it on some seconds later (maybe 20-30 seconds).
After about 15 minutes out of the pocket the behavior is normal again.
During this about 15 minutes a reboot wont help.
Please can someone help me thank you in advance.
I have the latest CM7.2 rooted on my device, but testet with several other roms.
Greetings Steffen
try to restore stock rom and drivers. If it doesn't help, give HTC for warranty.

i have tried the stock rom as well as other sense roms or other aosp roms.
The warranty is long gone.
thanks for your help.
Then best guess is it needs a new digitizer, next best guess is the main flex. I would be surprised if it weren't one of these two

Thanks for your suggestion, i also think that the digitizer may have a problem, yesterday i bought a screwdriver an repair set for the phone, and then i will open it for looking inside an maybe see something or for only clean it.
But another question, what is the main flex, i never heard about it in past.
Best regards Steffen
It is the cable that allows all components to be connected as you slide the keyboard

No I have not changed it yet, but I have my device completely disassembled down to the digitizer and thoroughly cleaned. But I've noticed no change.
I'm going to buy now, probably a new digitizer and replace the old.
I still remembered that I had such a problem already with the stock-ROM from HTC, just was not as strong and that is why I have not taken so seriously.
I will write my experiences then here in the forum.
Changing the digitizer fixed similar issues on my device.

Thank you for this information, that encouraged me in my decision to buy a new digitizer.
Did you have problems with the sealing tape?
