This is what I do
1. One Click back to EL29
2. Get GPS lock
3. Flash EL29 directboot CWM with Mobile Odin
4. Factory reset, wipe C & DC
5. Flash Rom
6. Flash GAPPS
7. Reboot
8. reboot to Recovery
9 Wipe C & DC
10. Flash Tweaks, modems, 4.2 goodies, etc
11. Reboot
I have never had issues other than a bad rom DL using this method. More experienced users probably skip a step or more along the way, but this has never let me down. No triangles or Flash counts using this way either.

Modem and kernel do not really matter you can change those and flash them any time.
If you are doing a TW ROM make sure you have a custom recovery (If you are stock this is when you would flash a kernel). Usually you would want to run a wipe all type zip or do a wipe in the recovery(If it is a safe recovery) Once you have that flash the ROM. If you are doing an AOSP ROM do the same first step but when you are in recovery flashing the ROM also flash the Gapps.
Once you have that done you can go nuts on whatever tweaks/modems/kernels you would like to mess with.

Why can you use mobile odin for everything/? Like lets say me
About to do a update to my rom (no wipe)
So I can just Flash the Rom (wipe cache and dalvik in mobikle odin) restart
flash gapps mobile odin? right?
Or is this bad idea. I only use mobile odin to flash once before and it worked I lvoed how easy was... was a recovery though not a rom or eta update

If your updating

*your ROM, most of the time you just have to wipe cache and dalvik. And you can use recovery menu to do it

Q: installing gapps with aokp or codename

I flash the cwm kernel, boot into recovery, wipe, flash rom, flash gapps but no gapps show up when I reboot. I have tried pushing the gapps straight to system/app with no luck.
Every time I attempt to get back into recovery I have to reflash it with Odin and still nothing. I know I need a gingerbread recovery but I'm not sure which to use.
I have looked in tons of threads and most say DO NOT FLASH ROMS WITH THIS RECOVERY!
I know this is noob **** but I use a fassy and am not very familiar with et4g shiz.
P.s. attempted to get her phone running an aosp rom with gapps for over an hour. If someone could give me a quick simple reply with the recovery I need to flash an aosp from and gapps from fe10 let me know.

Flash this Recovery Kernel (EL26 stock CWM) through Odin. http://db.tt/PjcA1HqE
Clear cache, clear Dalvik (under advanced options).
Flash this version of gapps. http://db.tt/y7AI52fM
Flash the desired operating kernel and reboot. You should be good to go.
Good luck!

In case you are still running AOKP or AOSP you can flash this FE10 kernel. It is only compatible with AOSP or AOKP, flash it with anything else and it will give you boot loops.

[q] mobile-odin-directboot

Im on an ICS ROM, can I do a directboot with mobile odin to the EG4-EL29-directbootCMW-v3.tar.md5 and Then do a complete wipe and flash the el26.cmw Then Flash the new ICS ROM and gapps? The correct gapps for that specific rom of course.
You can flash from within the direct boot CWM kernel, no need to flash the el26 cwm kernel.

Thanks man
Probably a stupid question, and sorry if it's repetitive, but I would rather be safe then sorry...
I too am on a ICS rom (AOKP), by flashing direct boot CWM in PC odin... I can get to another ICS Rom, but I still need to Wipe Factory/data, cache, and dalvik, before flashing another rom in CWM (i.e. PA 1.3 and hybrid apps), correct?
Or in this case, it's prefered I go to El26

[Q] Help flashing ics rom!!!

How do I flash an ics rom on my gingerbread rooted t989???? We never I flash aokp it boot loops! I been out of the loop a while can someone please help me???
Each ICS rom in the development section typically provides flashing instructions specific to the rom. I suggest you find the rom you want to flash and follow instructions in the OP. Keep in mind since you are currently running GB and wish to upgrade to ICS, you will need to flash an IGS radio. General flash instructions are usually as follows:
1. Factory Reset / Wipe Data or flash Darkside Superwipe
2. Flash Radio
3. Flash Rom
4. Reboot
5. Let rom settle for 5-10 mins, Reboot again
6. Enjoy. If you get a boot loop at this point or phone freezes at this point, flash Darkside Cache Wipe (which wipes cache, dalvik cache, and fixes permissions)
There's no special stuff I have to do before is it just like flashing a gb rom???
Same process, nothing special.

[Q] Updating [ROM] AOKP JellyBean "Nightly"

Right now I am running jb build 5, and I want to update it to jb milestone 1.
My question is simple, can you dirty flash it? I know that people who ask about dirty flash should be "killed", but I'm new to this Android and flashing ROM.

But like you said, your new to android. Do what you think is right for your phone.
Good luck

Seriously?
Dirty flash it. People who clean flash every nightly like wasting their time. I've outlined my feelings on this issue more than once. Wipe Dalvik and be done with it.
I have always dirty flashed AOKP between builds on my previous phone with only wiping cache/dalvik cache. Only time I full wipe is when there are significant changes or Android version jump. Never had any problems. Here's my recommendation for dirty flashing:
If you have Google Wallet installed on /system partition, reset it first.
1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
3. Run a nandroid backup. Always do this.
4. Copy the nandroid backup to your PC or somewhere safe
5. Flash the new build
6. Flash gapps
7. Flash custom kernel (optional)
8. Reboot and profit
Dirty flash or full wipe flash, there always are possibilities for problems. Sometimes you could have a bad flash, just reflash or restore the nandroid and reflash.

Thanks for all of the responses, I'll just dirty flash it. Also I have brick my phone twice now and was able to unbrick it, so I'm not really worry about bricking it again.

[Q] Issue during CM10 flash - might bricked

This is the first time i flash my phone to move to the darkside.
T989 running ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.1.5 , Flashed with DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4 / CM10 Stable. After complete the flash and stuck on the CM splash screen.
After read the CM10 Thread, that mentioned i should not use the dakrside wipe.
1 - I can boot into CWM mode
2 - Cache and dalvik cache cannot wipe Any suggest that i should proceed next or thats bricked????
3 - If restore, the USB keep prompt error
Thanks

Your phones fine
If you can get into recovery. wipe data, wipe factory reset, wipe dalvik wipe cache. Flash cm10. Flash gapps. Reboot.
If you can't wipe anything in recovery and it freezes up. Your recovery is broken and you have to reflash it via Odin. Then go back and do what I said above
NEVER USE DARKSIDE SCRIPTS WITH CWM 6.XXXXXX OR TWRP 2.2.XXXXXXX OR 2.3XXXXX

I don't know what your saying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcffczu-0qA&feature=youtube_gdata_player. Watch this video. Download the files specified but the only files you will actually need are the Odin app and "Hercules.tar.cwm file. The only steps youd actually need to follow start at 3:50 and end at 6:27. This method will reinstall cwm version 5.0.xxxxx. As usual hold up down power to get into recovery mode. Use dark side super wipe and reinstall ROM and gapps then dark side cache wipe. since it IS the older cwm version 5.0.xxxx you do need the scripts. Once everything looks good and you decide to upgrade your recovery DONT use the scripts anymore. The newer recoveries do the work for the scripts
Edit:
Unlike the video explains you want to enter download mode before connecting your phone to Odin. I think to get into download mode you hold volume up / down then plug USB from pc into phone.. All at the same time
