Has there always been a red light blink at startup? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Not sure if I never noticed before, but since rooting my phone when I cold boot it I see a re light blink where I think is th proximity sensor. I thought I was because of putting TWRP recovery on it and tripping the counter, so I went back totally stock after using triangle away. Now in Odin mode it says custom binary download: no, current binary: Samsung official, system status: official.
Can someone who has never rooted before tell me I they get this same red blink at cold boot up?

Anyone? Im trying to determine if Samsung has it do this if the counter has been tripped as a tell tale sign, even though the counter has been reset.

I have a S3 and when it was running stock the red light meant that the battery was NOT at 100% thats about it man dont know if it applies to the note but its still a samsung

Im rooted but i think i might know what your talking about, i mostly see it at night, and it is not a very red...red light, its sort of a faded red light and it is coming out of the 2 black spots next to the front facing camera, i dont remember off hand which out of the two it ocmes from but I think the left one.
If this is the same thing as you're getting, I would also like to know what exactly it is.
Possibly face detection maybe? idk

I know what your talking about, thats not what im talking about. I mean phone off, hit the power button to start phone, and right before it starts to boot that same red light your talking about will blink once. Then the phone starts booting.

yep mine blinks too. Good eye man lol I would of never noticed that =P
I will try on my other Note 2 today when I get home, It is not rooted or anything, just have a few apps installed from the playstore but havent fondled with that one.

Lol thanks. I never noticed it until yesterday so I didnt know if it was always there or a by product of tripping the counter.

Ha I just saw it too I wonder what it is

just checked on the non-rooted phone (never rooted, fully stock), red light blinks on that one once you start up, same as my rooted one, so it is totally normal. I am assuming it is the first thing that gets power when powering on, so it flashes...thats the best explanation

Awesome! Thank you very much,...I can take my tinfoil hat off now....

White HTC screen after water damage

I was rooted with s-off running condemned CM7 on my dinc2. I had the new firmware so I used this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751796 to get there.
Phone got wet...not even submerged just wet for a minute. And it had an otter box but water still got into it. Anyways I took out the battery, stuck it in a ziplock bag with rice for two days and then put the battery back in.
I turn it on and get nothing but the white HTC logo screen. I can use the vol down and power button to reboot but still cant get back into recovery it just goes straight to HTC white screen.
I have searched the forum but seem to only find things related to root issues and nothing specific about just getting back into recovery. I
want to know what is the easiest/safest path forward. I really would like to just get into recovery somehow and try to load up what I had. But if I need to wipe all and reflash the rom that is ok. I just have no idea how to start that process.
It's a half miracle that I was even able to get past the bootloop phase and have a stable rooted phone running a stable rom.
Sorry for the noobish nature of this post. I am back to using my old droid eris at this point and would love get this dinc2 up and running again.

Maybe some more drying time?? I don't have personal experience with electronics getting wet but I know that time is always the best medicine with it..

I had an issue like this with my DroidX when it had got a little wet. Not submerged, or dunked, but just water contact. I let it dry here in the Phoenix sun for about a day, and it seemed to be ok when I first booted it up, but it then did weird stuff like sticking on certain screens and rebooting.
I let it dry out more with the battery out over the next two days and it seemed fine after that.

GSM Nexus - Red Notification Light

After leaving the house this morning, I was listening to some music. An hour after leaving I see that my notification led has illuminated red. Now I have no notifications and I've tried a battery pull. What I noticed is when removing the battery the light shuts off but as soon as the battery is replaced it lights back up without the need to power on the phone. The phone still works all fine and dandy however.
As for the light its a bright red and sometime dims to a very faint light but never shuts off.

Yes. CNA.
I reflashed to stock but the light stayed on even while I was flashing and after formatting.
If you're still seeing the red LED during and after a flash you're probably looking at a hardware issue. I'd give Samsung a call to see what they have to say. Even if it's not something they will take for warranty repair, they may be able to get you some relevant information.

Good to hear. Hopefully that will be the end of it. So you didn't notice any actual performance problems? I wonder if there might be a short circuit in the LED?

Did the issue return afterwards?
I have a similar issue, only when i turn the device off the red notification light disappears. And then, when i turn the device on it usually doesn't come back immediately.
But, im getting this red notification light on a daily basis and can't seem to find what it means. Like on your device, everything works fine with no performance issues whatsoever. Also, i'm running stock-rooted Jelly Bean 4.1.2, but the issue started before rooting the device and on 4.1.1. I don't get any notifications on the notification bar, i can't find any app that uses the LED with that color. I don't use any LED control app.
it's annoying, and theres no information at all about this issue.. I already E-mailed Samsung a couple of days ago and didn't get a response from them yet.
I've seen this happen a few times before, after the phone has been exposed to moisture. A good example is when you leave the phone in the bathroom during or after taking a shower...

Well, the phone might has been exposed to small amounts of moisture (it took me really long time trying to remember if it has). What can you suggest doing about it? Close it, take out the battery and put it in a bag of rise for a few days? :/ it's been two weeks since then..
If it is moisture, it will probably clear up on its own. The bag of rice trick may help, if you don't mind going without your phone for a few days...

My biggest concern is corrosion. If it builds up it can really mess the circuits up.
I'll try the bag of rise thing and update what's the result..
Thanks for your help!
Mine is the same... Except green.
When power is off... Stays green... Factory reset and still the same... Stock, rooted, unlocked
Any ideas?

So the green light means water damage or the red light? Cant find that anywhere

I was responding to the op.
You probably both have some sort of internal issue.. corrosion , malfunction, something like that.

Bricked or not?

Ok so i pulled my phone out of my pocket and noticed the screen stuck on lockscreen, couldn't do anything so I turned it off, note : I did nothing out of the ordinary to the phone, it's been running fine on CM9 for months now and all of a sudden after rebooting..the light stays on and i get nothing. Tried everything I can think of and really don't have money for a new one at the moment. I'm wondering what happened and thought someone hear might have a little more knowledge as to what happened. Any replies would help...thanks.
Edit: After looking around it seems to have the blue light of death brick-ish w/e..I just don't understand how it would do it out of nowhere without even flashing/downloading/just sitting in my pocket? wtf...oh well..i'll probably just goto the sprint store and bs them to getting another..weird..
Hold down power and volume down for a while to see if it will boot into download/odin mode.

If you can check the battery before all else. Do a spin test, try replacing (or have the store swap out for testing) and see if this gets you back to life.
Next option - USB Jig or try holding the buttons long enough to see if Odin or Recovery responds.
Don't think this is the eMMC bug so JTAG may also be a way to rescue it if needed.

[Q] Samsung galaxy s II screen fix help

I'm wondering how to fix my SPH-D710 samsung galaxy II epic 4G. i've been asking my friend forever for his phone since it got deactivated, and today at lunch he dropped it and said, "Fine take it!" because the screen didn't show up anymore. you can feel a vibration when the phone boots and the little blue light lights up when you turn it on, including the red light when charging. i did some research and saw it may be an internal error, so i took the phone apart, unplugged all of the ribbons, and plugged them all in again, no harm done. but to no avail, as nothing showed up as i tried booting it again. If anyone could tell me a way to fix it without going and taking it to a repair shop that would be great.. also the stock rom for this phone would be nice too. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THE SCREEN FIRST. if you want pictures of the internals of the phone, just ask.

Solid blue light staying on - Phone works fine?

Phone is working fine (currently has CM 10.1 on it). But that light will not go away. Even when I pull the battery (for 30 seconds) and reinsurt. The light comes on before I even turn the phone on (boot android up). It comes on as soon as I put the battery back it, even without powering up. It's my GF's phone so hard telling what she has done to it.
Flash a stock TouchWiz ROM and see it the issue persists.

Is there an app like blink or lightflow installed that is controlling the led? If bot you might try one of these apps. I prefer blink.
The simple fix may be a factory reset

Guys, it does it even when the phone is off. As soon as I put the battery back in, the light comes on. This is before a rom is even loaded. Before I even turn the phone on. The light comes on and stays on. So I doubt flashing other roms or checking apps will do much good? But to answer the question. No LED apps that control it are installed.
Weird that its on even before power up. It sounds like a hardware problem. Flash a different rom to be sure.

Yea, I only wish I could tell her that and she would leave me alone about it. I am afraid its going to burn out being on all the time. Plus I am sure it being on has a negative effect on battery.

LEDs take forever to burn out. You will also not have any problems with battery. I have an extra LED installed on my phone that stays on even when it is turned off or even dead. I still have really good battery life.
