[Q] Note 2 Samsung keyboard cursor moving gesture - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering how to enable moving the text cursor by simply swiping the keyboard left or right like in this video:
youtube.com/watch?v=1lwh-TbDFQQ
I know this works as I have tried this on the store model but I cannot enable this feature on my device.
I bought my device from Panamoz and I think I might have a French model as the box was French along with the initial boot language, could this be the issue?

[Q] [Q/A][PRO]CM9.0.0-RC2 and HW keyboard problem

Good day!
I've flashed my MK16i with CM9 9.0.0-RC2 a couple of days ago. I'm really impressed with system speed and performance over stock SE ICS ROM (.587), but one thing is really disappointing me. I'm using qwerty/cyrillic layout of my keyboard and I have a problem with HW keyboard "Fn" key (blue square). When keyboard language is set to Russian all hw keys are working perfectly displaying correct symbols with or without Fn key pressed. When I switch language to English Fn key fails to operate. I can't type any of auxiliary symbols (brackets, dashes and numbers). All other keys work perfectly displaying what they have to display.
Is there any workaround of this bug? It is quite bothering to switch language every time you need to type a number or a dash
Thanks in advance.
hey, i think you should ask this question in the developer forum or directly in the CM 9 thread

[Q] Note 2 keyboard stop responding

Hi all,
Found out that Note 2 when use the qwerty keyboard for typing, when you repeatly key in the same alphabets for example like "l" after a certain limit it will stop and the whole keyboard stop responding even you type on it. Then the keyboard will works again when you given it a space bar. Is this another bug for Note 2??
Anyone please advice.
Thanks

[Q] Replacement keyboard take over S-Pen?

I use Swype in my Galaxy S4 Active (comes for free) and I have a customized dictionary with my own words. I like it so much I bought the app for my Note 8.0 (on sale for $0.99).
However, I found out that Swype TOOK OVER the S-Pen feature and host of other stuff, such as:
- NO button to switch to other keyboard, including S-Pen
- DISABLE automatic switch to S-Pen handwriting when the pen is detached
- DISABLE Google text-to-speech and replaced it with Swype own voice recognition.
Do you guys see the same thing, even with other replacement keyboard such as Swiftkey?
UPDATE: I downloaded Swiftkey (FAOTD from Amazon) and it does the same thing - the S-Pen handwriting pop-up is DISABLED. I.e. I can no longer do handwriting recognition.
Unless someone can chime in, I think I can safely concludes that MOST of the popular keyboard replacement app DISABLE a lot of S-Pen and Voice functionality on the Note 8.0.
Kinda suck because the Samsung Keyboard, with swipe capability, is not as robust as Swiftkey or Swype.
I am on the same boat... except I am on AOSP rom...
Wish there was a Swiftkey + S-Pen keyboard. I want the handwriting recognition.
EDIT: Actually I found this! no need for the default Samsung Keyboard now!

Swype has it's own inbuilt handwriting recognition
it is be the pen button, 3rd from left in bottom row
current keyboard can be changed during writing via notification icon, although it's not very convenient

Swype also replace Google Voice recognition button with their own, which sucks because I prefer Google's.

I'm obviously a bit slow on this. I have the paid Swiftkey Tablet keyboard set as default but don't really understand the issue. Can someone please tell me how to test this stuff out? If I have the keyboard open and pull out the pen the keyboard closes and SNote pops out. Also, my voice recognition prompted from the keyboard appears to be Google. What am I not doing that you guys are to test?

I am not talking about S-Note, but the S-Pen input function. Once you selected Swiftkey, the ONLY way to have the S-Pen input shows up is to do this:
1). Swipe down on the notificaiton bar and select the Input method (you'll see a small keyboard icon)
2). Select Samsung Keyboard
3). Select S-Pen input
For Google Voice recognition, I only see Swype's own, called Dragon, not Google Voice recognition.
PS: This is not the Google Voice app, which is used for phone and SMS functions.
If you are rooted... look up S Pen Board Switcher... I am using that app on my Note 8.0 AOSP rom.
What it does is, when you remove your S Pen it will switch to which ever keyboard when the S Pen is out... and switch back to the which ever keyboard you want when the Pen is in.
So in my case... I use Swiftkey Tablet and Stylus (Beta). So when I pull out my S Pen, the keyboard automatically goes to Stylus (Beta) (which gives me handwriting recognition like Samsung's Keyboard, but much better). And when my S Pen is in the slot, it switches back to Swiftkey Tablet keyboard for my fingers to type on.

Need Help!! With Keyboard Long Press - Google Keyboard

I'm trying to figure out how to get the stock keyboard to show long press keys behind the main characters. TWRP has a stock looking keyboard with long presses available and a few roms have stock keyboard with long presses showing up as well on the stock keyboard. Is there some setting im missing or is there a custom google keyboard apk I can install? Any help would be appreciated, id love to not have to toggle between the multiple levels of the keyboard to find question marks etc.
using the keyboard right now and i don't think there is an option for that. then again the scheme is straight forward in my opinion. long pressing a letter leads to variants of that very letter (e.g. æãåāàáâä). exception to that rule is the top row, which additionaly has the shown numbers as longpress-default. other commonly used special characters can be accessed by using the period-key.

Tab S4 physical keyboard problem

Hey guys,
I bought this tablet yesterday along with the official case with keyboard. The keyboard has the Portuguese Layout, however everytime I press special characters such as "ç", Android show me completely different characters. I made sure that Portuguese is the default language for everything in Settings.
Did anyone have this problem? Is there any way I can remap the keyboard?
Thanks
If you want to change the language to Portuguese Br, or other go in Settings, Language and input, physical keyboard and change it from Portuguese to Brazilian.
You'll be able to use the keyboard by going on the Physical Keyboard settings and define the keyboard layout as English International. However, I still could not get the ' to work with c, a and e.
Hi guys,
Since I updated the tablet to Android 9, I'm no longer able to switch between keyboards when the physical keyboard is paired. Is anyone else facing this issue? In Dex mode, the issue is even worse, as none of the other keyboards I have installed in my system is available!
Update: If the option "keyboard on screen" in the keyboard menu is checked, I'm able to switch between them. One issue less. Still need to understand why Dex is no longer allowing other keyboards to run (they are stated as "unavailable" for Dex mode).
Were you ever able to resolve the issue? I just got my S4 and keyboard and this is driving me crazy

No problem in either mode as long as you set the keyboard layout correctly. For me it's Spanish because mine is a Spanish keyboard
