[Q] [Q/A][PRO]CM9.0.0-RC2 and HW keyboard problem - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day!
I've flashed my MK16i with CM9 9.0.0-RC2 a couple of days ago. I'm really impressed with system speed and performance over stock SE ICS ROM (.587), but one thing is really disappointing me. I'm using qwerty/cyrillic layout of my keyboard and I have a problem with HW keyboard "Fn" key (blue square). When keyboard language is set to Russian all hw keys are working perfectly displaying correct symbols with or without Fn key pressed. When I switch language to English Fn key fails to operate. I can't type any of auxiliary symbols (brackets, dashes and numbers). All other keys work perfectly displaying what they have to display.
Is there any workaround of this bug? It is quite bothering to switch language every time you need to type a number or a dash
Thanks in advance.

hey, i think you should ask this question in the developer forum or directly in the CM 9 thread

Diamond Keyboard

Saw that there is now a cab file for the HTC Diamond keyboard. [link]. Anyone know if this will work on the Touch?
Yes it does
I put it on my xv6900 & my xv6800- works fine.
any feelings on this keyboard? I started with the older HTC keyboard, then moved to TouchPal. I'm curious to try it out, but it looks like its just a skinned and mildly updated version of HTC keyboard.
Using the diamond keyboard on the VZW Touch right now. Works well, no real issues found as of yet. Like it for the fact that it has more buttons and I love the "Switch" for the ABC and xT9.

It works well but in QWERTY mode, the letter Z is missing
Mine has the Z on both phones.
I like that I'm not stuck with the qwerty keyboard in opera now on my touch
wonder if the diamond keyboard originally has the sound when you select the keys like the htc phonepad had?
Touch User P3450
this Diamond Keboard Work's But its realy slow ....Delay each time U tap...
Word completion
I have it installed, but have lost word completion. Anyone else?
I don't know, i really like the PCM Keyboard. I can't find one that's as simple to use and functions well.

I'm going to try out the Diamond kb, currently using PCM also. I also really appreciate the simplicity of the PCM and how it takes up very little screen space (compared to others), but I really hate that I have to change layouts to get to the period (.) key. IMO, this should be on the main layout, being a such often used key.
wow....has anyone failed to mention that the "qwerty" mode doesnt work in landscape?????? that is a huge drawback for such a nicely skinned keyboard....hope this gets fixed soon
I mainly use the keyboard layout. When I hit the shift key the characters show as caps and types a cap, but then stay displayed that way even though they are no longer typing caps (at least until I enter a space, then the displayed letters return to normal). Makes it hard to tell when I have caps turned on/off. If I tap the shift key a couple more times then the display will change back, but it's annoying. The landscape qwerty seems to be working fine for me, unlike what another user said (and it's not showing the shift display problem I mentioned).
It would be nice if when a key is pressed the enlarged view of the key displayed above the key, so that my finger is not covering it up. What I mean is like the way the PCM keyboard works, or like the iPhone.

[Q] Hardware keyboard

I've got 2 little questions about my Desire Z hardware keyboard.
The hardware language is at English. Is there an APK to download so I can set it to dutch? (The problem is, if I type: wel [space] it will change it to we'll, which is quiet annoying.
Second question, I really mis a back button on my hardware keyboard, is there any way to simulate one with a program so I can set it to my #2 shortcut on my hardware keyboard?
Thnx for the help in advance.
i second this. it would also be nice to be able to map the 2nd button to go straight to home...

[Q] Cyanogenmod flashed. How to make accents with FN+Spacebar?

Hi,
I just flashed my DesireZ with the Cyanogenmod7.1.
What I'm asking for is the possibility of typing accented letters as I did with the stock rom by pressing FN+Spacebar after I typed the letter which has to be accented.
Example: to type "è" this is what I did: e + fn + spacebar.
The same for "à", "ò","ì", "ù"...
It seems weird, but as I'm italian, I need to write a lot of accents and the method by longpressing a button takes just too much time
TIA
ps: cool anti-noob video
EDIT:
I've found many threads in this and other forums about the remapping of the hardware keyboard. It seems that the combination vowel+fn+space to type an accented vowel doesn't have anything to do with the keyboard layout/map.
It seems that this calls a function... Well, this works only on sense-based roms. Is there any possibility of having this on another rom, for example on CM7?
I really miss this function... have you solved?

Need Help!! With Keyboard Long Press - Google Keyboard

I'm trying to figure out how to get the stock keyboard to show long press keys behind the main characters. TWRP has a stock looking keyboard with long presses available and a few roms have stock keyboard with long presses showing up as well on the stock keyboard. Is there some setting im missing or is there a custom google keyboard apk I can install? Any help would be appreciated, id love to not have to toggle between the multiple levels of the keyboard to find question marks etc.
using the keyboard right now and i don't think there is an option for that. then again the scheme is straight forward in my opinion. long pressing a letter leads to variants of that very letter (e.g. æãåāàáâä). exception to that rule is the top row, which additionaly has the shown numbers as longpress-default. other commonly used special characters can be accessed by using the period-key.

Tab S4 physical keyboard problem

Hey guys,
I bought this tablet yesterday along with the official case with keyboard. The keyboard has the Portuguese Layout, however everytime I press special characters such as "ç", Android show me completely different characters. I made sure that Portuguese is the default language for everything in Settings.
Did anyone have this problem? Is there any way I can remap the keyboard?
Thanks
If you want to change the language to Portuguese Br, or other go in Settings, Language and input, physical keyboard and change it from Portuguese to Brazilian.
You'll be able to use the keyboard by going on the Physical Keyboard settings and define the keyboard layout as English International. However, I still could not get the ' to work with c, a and e.
Hi guys,
Since I updated the tablet to Android 9, I'm no longer able to switch between keyboards when the physical keyboard is paired. Is anyone else facing this issue? In Dex mode, the issue is even worse, as none of the other keyboards I have installed in my system is available!
Update: If the option "keyboard on screen" in the keyboard menu is checked, I'm able to switch between them. One issue less. Still need to understand why Dex is no longer allowing other keyboards to run (they are stated as "unavailable" for Dex mode).
Were you ever able to resolve the issue? I just got my S4 and keyboard and this is driving me crazy

No problem in either mode as long as you set the keyboard layout correctly. For me it's Spanish because mine is a Spanish keyboard
