Camera Failed - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey, So the camera on my Note 2 either stays black or says camera failed and FC's. I already tried a hard reset, flash stock rom via odin, root and flash a new rom, I have done almost everything to fix.
I bought it off craigslist sealed brand new, sprint is saying it needs to pass 30 days in order to receive a replacement or fix since I did not buy it from them (I Have insurance)
Any one have a suggestion to fix? or what I should do? Thanks

i have this same exact issue....reset the phone at least 5 times...
Sprint told me the same thing. They also told me that there is an "OTA" to fix this issue because other people have it.
It's odd because the return policy is 15 days but the insurance kicks in after 30...so weird...
I currently am running a stock deodex ROM with the Pegasus kernel. the black screen happens only occasionally.

hey man i went to Sprint today. the technician pulled off the camera module from the display phone they had in store that did not have the problem we have.
he used the NEW module on my phone. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. we concluded there is an issue with the motherboard (most likely the processor). they ordered me a new phone even though i've only had this phone for < 30 days...
hope this helps!

Random reboots, problems flashing, etc

Hi all,
Ever since flashing the last CM stable, I've been experiencing terrible boot loops.
Yesterday was the worst, no matter what I did, the phone would either get stuck at the white screen, or get to the CM loading screen and then reboot.
Tried wiping and reflashing, and experienced the same things.
Wiped and reflashed with Fresh 3.4, and it was working for a while. Then, all of a sudden, the phone couldn't pick up Sprint service and started the hands-free activation mode. Low and behold, it goes back into a boot loop.
Now, I'm sitting here on a frozen white screen again.
The funny thing is, the phone will randomly reboot sometimes during a wipe or a flash using Clockwork.
Any ideas? I see a few similar posts but none describing the same issue with Sense based (not CM) roms.
Thanks
So I just tried the following and I am frozen at the white screen:
- wipe data/cache/dalvik twice
- flash Fresh 3.2 (sense based rom)
Tried doing a Nandroid restore. Seemed to be going OK for a while until the phone just rebooted during the restore. WTF? Is this a problem with the SD card?
Was finally able to do a nandroid restore to an older CM. Formatted the SD card. Going to re-flash to another ROM now.

Back into a reboot loop after full wipe and new ROM flash. What gives?
Best way to start over?
Damn phone is freezing just trying to go into Recovery :/
Phone reboots when trying to flash something in Recovery. Jeez...
can anyone offer an advice? i'm drowning here...
Flashed RA recovery. Thing still randomly reboots when wiping or flashing ROMs. Ugh.
It's rebooting while in recovery?!?! Wow man, it sounds like your hardware is messed up. I've never heard of a phone rebooting while in recovery. You may need to get a replacement
Yes, I had this problem. The processor was overheating. The phone was replaced. Hopefully you can unroot so you can get yours replaced. I had trouble unrooting because it kept rebooting during the process, took a good 3-4 hours.

Yeah it reboots while in recovery. Like, I'll be doing a wipe and the phone will reboot.
So far I've tried a number of RUUs and stock PC36IMG from flashboot all with the same result - the device will get into the OS and then just reboot. This will loop 3 or 4 times and then get frozen at the white screen.

Ah weird. If I am S-ON I'm good to go? Sounds like I need a manufacturer's replacement if I don't have the insurance, right?
I went to sprint for my replacement. I called HTC first, but they were going to charge me, which I am not ok with doing while the phone is still under warranty. At sprint, they asked me to replicate the reboot and when I did, they ordered the replacement on the spot. My problem had gotten to the point that I knew how to make it happen on the spot, though. You may have to do some quick talking if you can't reproduce the problem right away. But, you should be able to get a free replacement.
ETA: I don't have the insurance. As long as your phone is under a year, which it is, sprint has to honor the manufacturer 1 year warranty.

K, I'm going to try to walk in and do that.
I called one of the repair centers and they said they'd only be able to look at it, but would triage back to HTC for warranty repair.
Called HTC, they're talking 2-4 weeks for repair.
You think if I walk in one of the Sprint places and repro, they will replace on the spot? Sounds like they don't do that.
I called sprint and made an appointment. You must not tell then you rooted at any point or they will not honor the warranty. If at all possible, don't mention going into recovery. Try to reproduce the problem some other way. They will not charge you and they will either give you the replacement if they have it or order it and it will arrive the next day.

Thanks, I will try this tomorrow.
I had it in a semi working state today, got back S-OFF and .76 HBOOT. Had CM 6.1 running for hours. Went to check it a lil while ago, just messing around in the UI and the thing reboots. Reboot loop begins at that point. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, sounding more and more like hardware.

Did an RUU to the latest for craps and giggles. This makes S-ON and HBOOT .97. Same issue, get to OS, random reboot, the reboot loop.
This is easily producible and now that I am in S-ON and no recovery installed, I should hopefully be able to replace it. Definitely hardware, possibly CPU overheat from what I've read earlier.
I'm afraid my sprint store may force me to go direct to the manufacturer since this would be a manufacturer warranty repair. they told me over the phone (sprint corp) that this is the policy. I'll walk in and try.

So I went to the Sprint store today. I pretty easily reproduced the issue.
My options were to go through HTC for manufacturer's warranty, or have it replaced on the spot. Problem is that Sprint charges a $35 "replacement fee" for the convenience. I felt my time (3-4 weeks through HTC) was worth more than the fee, so I paid it and was on my way.
That's interesting. I did not have to pay for my replacement and I did not have to go through HTC who did try to make me pay.

Hard Bricked! Help (T999/mobilicity)

I have a 9 month old S3 (T999/Canadian/Mobilicity Variant)
I had a ROM on there since day 2, but recently *this week* had a lot of hard lock ups. I could manage a reboot if I pulled the battery.
I tried 3 diff roms CM10, AOKP, and a recent 4.1.1 (all without apps) all worked but still caused the hard lock requiring a reboot.
It was annoying as you know what, but I was testing diff options wondering if the lockups were the OS/an app/or hardware.
Last night the phone was working on AOKP 4.2.2 while on the charger. I woke up and noticed it was hard locked, so I batt pulled, rebooted and went to sleep.
Now (this morning) it wont boot at all. I thought maybe it was the charger or the battery. I swapped batteries with a different S3, mine still does not boot.
So. What now?
Time for S4 and lose a $600 phone? Time to go to a Samsung or Carrier shop?
Have you tried Odin? Plug it into a computer see if things register if so go further with Odin.
I'd say that and see if it persist while on a stock then don't install your apps, if problem still persist call Samsung or whom ever and see about that. Or get it up and running and if steady put on Craigslist then get s4....

That is found on XDA and the interwebs as a bricked device. it applies to captivate/HTC/s3 others.
I downloaded odin, but I can't get into download mode Power+Home+VDown (Nothing happens)
I didn't flash an incorrect ROM, since my phone was working, it bricked itself over night? Power Surge?
Aerowinder, if I am under warranty, can i take it to my carrier/samsung for repair? I can't get into Download mode.
Call them up and find out. It might be failing/tired internals/hardware... Did you have your phone over clocked at all in the 9 months, just curious?

Not sure how this is going to turn out. The carrier refused to do the warranty, and gave me the # to samsung canada. I went to the Samsung Canada store, where they took the phone and gave me a GNexus (loaner)
So... lets hope they dont see the romming, my triangle should be 0.
If they do figure out my romming and their quote to fix is absurd, I will get HTC1 and repair the S3 on my own time.
I prefer Apple's warranty to be honest.
Does anyone know how much 3rd party Brick repair should cost? In the crap chance Samsung gets me for ROMing

Update:
7 days after submitting for service, the phone came back from a 3rd party repair shop in Burnaby, BC. PBA replaced due to bad BGA (Ball Grid Array)
So I guess they couldn't boot it to see the root.
Working fine. The new phone came back carrier locked, original unlock # worked again.

I Hard Bricked my Samsung Galaxy S3 and if you dont mention anything about rooting they will give you a new one no questions asked. Now if you dont have a warranty or some type of insurance then call samsung and see what you can do about it. i did a warranty exchange and i got a new one. As long as you dont mention brick or root you will be find they will right it down as defective.

[Q] Brand New Note 3 problem

Hi guys, I have a weird problem and I need your advice.
My brand new galaxy Note 3 Sm-N900T is having screen blackouts....
Its like after the screen timeout the screen goes off and then when I press the power button it doesn't go back on again.
Or if I turn the screen off it doesn't go back on again... the buttons are working the sounds are on, I can answer calls and everything but the screen is black.
If I play with it (pressing power or home buttons) for a while it comes back on. Sometimes the phone restarts (rarely, I think because i press power button).
I have tried everything from playing with settings to wiping the cache and resetting the phone few times.
It looks like its a software issue to me, or maybe sensor.. but i think that when power button is pressed the screen should turn on regardless of sensors.
I do have the custom S-Case but I had the issue even before I got that.
Now.. I have few choices :
1. Go to t-Mobile and get a replacement.. probably refurbished, not a fact that the problem will away because I heard of lots of people having this issue ...
I of course do not want to do that.. I have this phone for less than a month.
2. Wait for KitKat....
3. install some kind of custom rom and see if problem goes away.
If anyone can help, Id really appreciate it.
I would do an exchange.. you paid good money for it and a defect is a defect, I wouldn't depend on a 3rd party patch for this

This may be jelly bean bug... Lots and lots of people report the same problem...
If I replace my piece I will probably get a refurbished one with a great chance of having this or some kind of another problem......

sucks man.
I know on my htc onei have the purple camera problem but everything else was fine. they had to send me 2 replacements because the first one had a yellow screen and worse camera then mines.
Tmobile doesnt even check there replacement. Most of the time there phones that people traded in. And all they do with those is a power on check.
Now if you just got the phone and within the 14 exchange you can take it to the store and get a brand new one.
Had it for more than 2 weeks now.. since i was always playing with it i did not notice the problem .. (the screen was always on).
I called Samsung and Tmobile. I told tmobile that samsung said i have a defective phone. so Tmobile is sending me a "Like new" phone meaning that someone returned it within 14 days. I get to check it and if i dont like it i will just send them their phone back. and suddenly mine doesnt do the problem for 30 minutes lol.. maybe it got scared. Personally i think that KitKat would fix it.
Any force closes? I had this problem too untill I stopped using the crapy My Magazine bloatware, which was also sometimes force closing...
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
No, no force closes, but one time it was funny, a little bit of status bar appeared from the bottom and on top it was a little bit cutoff.... like someone slid the screen up few pixels.
And whatever was cut just came from the bottom. Its weird... for $700 phone it should be flawless... I hope they dont send me crap phone and i hope they dont send my phone to someone else.
How can i get rid of it to see if that was the problem?

I figured id try to reflash (not data reset, but reflash via Kies) so far so good no problem.
The whole thing looks like soft prob, not hard.
If it comes back Ill let you know. This could be a nice fix if works.
I'm in nyc, and my local store called the warrenty center and got me a brand new SGS2 one time. It still had all the blue plastic in the sim card and sd card slots, and plastic on the screen. So I'm know they can request it, just depends on your store if they are willing.

Well, I dont know what to think anymore... Looks like the problem persists but happens so rare that without the past I wouldnt notice it.
This makes me believe that with KitKat it will probably disappear. If soft changes cause this to go away or be less it means (to me) that the phone is not defective. New phone is still on the way, to bad I did not purchase it at local store... I did it online, so there is no one to yell at.
It will arrive on Feb 6th so I have plenty of time to test my phone, with some luck KitKat will roll out during this time and then I will be able to definitely see. And if new phone is cool I have the option of exchange anyway .
Thank you all for your help, keep posting, its an interesting issue.
:/
Phone went worse and worse everyday ... now the S-Pen "Air Command" doesnt pop up, several weird disfunctions...
Waiting for the replacement.

Personally I would first delete spotify then reboot see if it fixes it,I personally don't think its the app spotify but worth a try. I would then also backup my data and try a factory reset. If that also does not work consider re flashing a new stock rom.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread but my LG G3 d855 is exactly the same. on 29th December i noticed that the wifi wasn't connected to my home network, so did a reboot and still the same. I spent an hour or 2 googling this to find i wasn't the only one. Most had suggested a factory data reset, however said that this doesn't always work. I tried that and still the same so rang my network provider who passed me through to LG UK. It was booked in for a repair and collected on the 5th Jan. I got the phone back on the 26th Jan, and it took me less than 10 minutes to get the same wifi not connecting issue again. On the repair note it states they have changed the ic/pa/filter and updated the software to v20l (although I'm sure i was on later than that anyway). I rang LG again and it was collected the next day. I received the handset on tuesday, and the note this time said software updated, phone tested. I put the battery in, turned the phone on and within a minute found that the wifi would not turn on at all. I also noticed that the build version was V20h, which is a downgrade from the version that was on the phone when i sent it back to them.
I have rang LG again, and was told that they would look at it, but that i might need a new phone. When i questioned the new phone statement and asked why i needed to buyt a new phone, the woman didnt answer me. Anyway, the phone is getting collected today, and i really dont hold out much hope that it will be repaired. I have mailed LG direct to complain about this but i am at the point where i might move away altogether from LG. I am stuck until June waiting for my contract to expire, but am so frustrated with LG and their repair service as they have had my phone over a month now and havent fixed it.
This phone (g3) have bad quality components....my last lg....back to Samsung....I want my S5 again or a new S7 or note 4. Fantastics super amoled displays, great conections, all works. I'm tired of suffering...kkk

Yea Ive been a month without WiFi on it and I've taken it to 2 phone repair shops and its been said to be a motherboard problem and lg would have a big fee to fix it. I'm going to get a new phone soon because this problem is happening a lot right now with lgs

Well, update so far is they have "repaired" the handset and its on its way back to me so will get it on monday. I was going to bet a guy at work that it wouldnt be repaired but he wouldnt take the bet. if its still not fixed i think i need to go down the replacement route. I have tried to be polite about this, but the fact that they have ignored 3 emails from me trying to raise a complaint, numerous tweets and facebook messages is making me feel like LG are not a company that can be trusted. I realise that I am a tiny insignificant stone on the bottom of their shoe and am meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but i've never dealt with a company that simply ignores you....
I will update on monday when i turn the phone on
So as a follow up, I got the phone back on Monday and so far it is working fine, WiFi is connecting with no problems. The fix that has been reported is replacing the mainboard. 1 niggle now though is that there is now a hiss in the headphones that comes and goes which wasn't there when i sent the phone in for the million repair attempts. I cant be bothered to go through the hassle of reporting it and sending it off for repair so I'm just going to live with it (its not too bad, just annoying when the music is quiet or paused). I only have a couple of months before I can upgrade, and had thought about a G4 or G5 but after the past 2 months i don't think i'll bother.

How much did you pay for LG to repair it?

so sorry for late reply, didnt know you had asked a question. Mine was done under warranty (apparently LG have a 2 year warranty with Three) so mine was fixed under that. I would guess that it would of been about 100 quid though for the work that they did, if not more. It took them far too many attempts to fix it though, which has left me with a bitter taste towards LG, so not sure whether to get the G5 next, the G4 or move onto a different make altogether

Phone won't pass the LG screen

my phone is rooted i'm on 13B everything was fine since i got my phone back in august till today i was listening music and was gonna skip to next song that moment is when my phone froze completely after pressing the power button the phone reboot by itself but got stuck on the lg screen i removed the battery after a few attempts it turned on. after 30 minutes or so it rebooted it self again but now even removing the battery it won't pass the lg screen. any ideas? suggestions?
probably the same problem a lot of other people are having. I also had the same symptoms as you, on rooted 13B.
you can try resetting or reflashing your phone but most likely you need a replacement.
theirs a problem with the motherboard going bad, i just had the same problem and lg sent me a replacement under warranty but i wasnt rooted

I put the phone in download mode and flashed 13B KDZ. But unfortunately my phone got back in the bootlop. Good thing I'm gettingmy replacement
It's a hardware issue, not software. A lot of the earlier G4s have "loose contacts" that cause the bootloop to occur. LG has acknolwedged it and are replacing any affected phones without incident. Just call verizon and they'll ship a new one.
Yup, happened to me just his week. VZW shipped another one to arrive the next day. FWIW, I strongly recommend everyone backup their phone to removable SD card using LG's on board Backup utility. If this challenge happens to you, getting back up and running quickly will be much easier if you have this backup ready to go.
...my $.02.
Happened to me as well last night. Took it back to Verizon today and they are sending me another one. I didn't have insurance and no questions were asked. Obviously they recognize the problem. Last LG phone I will own! Unless the G5 is insane. Hehe
Happened to me as well, yesterday. Interesting how this is happening to everyone at almost the same timeframe. I'll take it to Verizon to get a replacement shipped.
I had the same problem, and contacted LG support and they said it will take 9 business days to repair the phone. This seemed like an awful long time to be without a phone, I asked if there was any way to speed the process up and they said no. Thankfully I was able to borrow a phone from work for the duration of the repairs. Considering how this is a major problem with many handsets, I think LG is handling the whole situation pretty badly.
