[Q] Boost stop activating sprint phones? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I didnt know where to post this so mods please move it if its in the wrong spot.
About 3 days ago i activated 2 htc touch pros, the original ones. they programmed ota just fine and everything works on them..
Now yesterday and today, boost claims that their system updated and now for the life of me i cant get one activated.
Does anybody know if boost has permanently stopped activating these old htc phones? or whats going on because before i could call a rep, any rep and they would do it no problem. Use your imagination why i would use these old phones.....by the way the s3 works great on boost network talk text mms 3g svdo....anyways can anybody shed some light on this
thanks

About six months ago, I was able to get my Sprint HTC Touch Diamond on the Boost Mobile pay as you go plan. This was great because I used the 50 cents per day internet as a wifi hotspot. It was even better when I disabled the internet add on and continued to get free data on the device.
About two weeks ago I bricked the phone trying to upgrade the ROM. No big deal, I’ll buy another one off EBay. The one off EBay came with an upgraded ROM, sweet! I called boost and had them switch the phones. They took the MEID just fine and when I powered the phone on, it didn’t active. I then realized the ROM had a different MEID. This one was not compatible with Boost. The rep told me the MEID needed to start with 2701131. I ordered another four phones as part of a cheap package deal. All had MEIDs with 2701131 and none of them would work. I started thinking maybe something had changed during this brief time period. I tried migrating back to IDN, still didn’t work. Now I’m stuck with the IDN phone on my account.
The reps just keep saying the phones are not compatible with Boost. I must have tried ten times at least. I used to always have success right away. It might be because I never fully activated one of my previous phones but I doubt that. I’ll probably try again with a fresh account. Anyone else experiencing this?
I’ve been beside myself realizing I probably could have enabled internet calling and had free internet and phone service. Is there any way to still get the HTC touch Diamond on a Boost Mobile account? Maybe an MEID edit? I really like the Touch Diamond because of WM6, XAndroid, TodayXLive and its hotspot capabilities. Any help is much appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Has at&t turned off the 3g for att legacy customers (pre-cingular)?

I have an 8525 using an "old blue sim". I have been having problems connecting with the 3g network. "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in the roaming network you are in." I am able to make voice calls on the utms network, but I am unable to make a data connection.
I thought my phone had a problem, but I think it is ok. I have no problems connecting to the Edge signal just 3g. I have flashed my phone reflashed the roms and radio..
Is any one else having this problem?
I did call at&t and ask for help, but they would not even talk to me because they say they are not supporting "old blue" and I need to migrate to a new plan/sim.
This started about a month ago. I am not sure if flashing a rom maybe corrupted the radio?
Does this mean anything. Taken from the Hyper Core thread.
@PaY87
Yup, UMTS is one of the Third Generation (3G) mobile systems. I use Hypercore Kitchen, but I've removed the .rgu files from this rom so it won't be easy to rebuild it.
Anyone with an "old blue" sim still working on the 3g network?

Scott, when I got my 8525 I was told I had to upgrade my sim to a 3G sim. I did and have had no problems since.
Jim
I was told they will not change my sim unless I change plans and migrate over to the new at&t. I have a great plan. I pay about 90.00 a month for two phones 1550 anytime minutes nights/weekends start at 7 and a unlimited mmode data plan on one phone. They had a great promotion at the time and I don't want to lose it.

Unfortunatly for you the only way to change your SIM is to do what you said they said above. I have a friend that works at AT&T and he was tellign me about that not to long ago.
Just another Corporate manuever to capitalize gains within large companies, thats America for you
There are some great deals going on withen AT&T now and I'm sure If you talk to the right people (Store Managers, Customer Service Supervisors) they would set you up with a nice plan. don't upgrade the normal way, make sure you talk to someone and BE AGRESSIVE!!!
This might answer your problem,

Analog bids Adieu
Yesterday, December 26, 2007, 5:17:26 PM | Joshua Karp
2008 is going to be a sad year for anyone that still remembers the early days of mobile technology. Not only is the TDMA band, currently the massive monkey on AT&T’s back, set to go black, but it looks like the old school analog cellular network will also be put to rest. Analog has remained in use primarily due to its presence in rural areas that have yet to reap the benefits of the "shiny new" digital network. With the seemingly exponential increase in signal penetration by America’s wireless carriers, however, it seems that the analog bands have run their course. Fewer than 1% of phones currently in use are functioning on the analog network, but if you suspect that your handset might be one of them now would be a good time to check. As many as 500,000 GM On-Star-equipped vehicles will also be affected.

Thanks. I never thought of that maybe I will give it a try today. You just went into a store and asked for a replacement sim paid 26 bucks and your 3g has been working with on "old blue" account?
Thanks
Scott
I too have a similar issue.
I am using a 3G sim card and have an 8525 but don't have the data connect plan. Instead since I bought the phone outright I went into the store and added the Media Net unlimited Plan. Worked flawlessly on the 3G network this past year then all of sudden last week I noticed it will only connect at EDGE. Maybe there catching on to this not sure but it seems interesting all of a sudden.
O.k. sorry for the detour back to your subject. I actually had the older sim card like you earlier this year and bought one of of eBay to upgrade. They were about half the price on there as Cingy store. Then just take in to any AT&T store and they can swap your sims, at least it could be done in the past.
Good luck.
I went to two at&t stores today. I asked if I could have a replacement sim. No problem untill they looked at my account. It had "old blue" written all over it. Both stores said that they were unable to give me a new sim. One guy even showed me the computer screen. The only link that worked on the whole page was the UPGRADE button. They could not even change it even if he wanted to. He also said he has not seen an "old blue" account in about 2 years.
According to the salesman if you lose your sim they will not replace it. You will have to sign up for a new plan and contract.
It was a good idea thought it was going to work.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

I think you have to come to terms that you need to upgrade....sorry thats just how it is...blame Bush....9/11 was an inside job
I think your right there is not much I can do. I cannot complain I still have a great plan (price wise) even with the "edge" service.

How long ago was this? Did you have an "old blue sim". I have had this sim for almost 5+ years maybe even longer. Did you go to a store or did you call and talk to someone from tech support?
Thanks

I have an extra 3G sim card, they sent it with a new phone, but no information is attached with it since we just used the old sim card in the new phone. Would an att store program it for one of you guys?

They had a pile of 3g sims there. The sales guy even showed me on the computer he tried clicking on replacement sim and nothing would happen. He clicked over the whole screen the only link that worked was upgrade. Saw it with my own eyes. The sales guy thought that all of these sims or accounts have been closed for years.
Thanks for the offer.

Word yo, not much you can do with a Blue account. I work at an AT&T authorized retailer, and the only real option is upgrading.
One thing though, before you bite the bullet: I'm pretty sure you don't need a 3G sim to access 3G. Look over on Howard Forums (you might be better off asking this question there), but there are people even with old 32k and 64k sim's working just fine. But that doesn't mean AT&T isn't blocking it. See if you can use someone elses SIM card in the phone to connect to 3g (if it's a newer "Orange" card, make sure you have the correct internet settings).

The 3g service was working fine untill about week or so ago. I travel quite a bit to New York and it happened up there first. When I would get home to Ft.Lauderdale everything was fine up till about week ago. So the "old blue" would get 3g service but I am thinking this is not the case anymore.
The howard forums have a lot of information. I need to get some time and really go through and read their site. Thanks for the info I never been on that forum.
Anyone out there have a old blue sim that is still working on the 3g network?
Scott
According to my friend, it works fine. Do not upgrade unless you have to, and don't give up your grandfathered plan. IIRC, The type of sim does not control connection speed or method, but only access to the network overall.... That being said, if you do loose your old pre-cingular Blue sim, they will not give you a new one without a new plan, so don't loose it.
Further, ATT doesn't (currently) screen for tethering or use of PDA phones with data plans made for phones, so no worries there.
Just to give you a quick up date. I flew in from Boston today. My phone had no problems using 3g in up in Boston.
I guess now ATT has the abilty to turn off the 3G in certain areas for us old customers. I know for sure 3G does not work with my old blue in New York area and Ft.Lauderdale area, but worked fine up in Boston today.
So I am not even sure even if I was given a new "3G" sim that it would allow me access to the 3G network.
The fight continues for me trying to get a new sim without changing my plan.

[Q] Inc - Can't use Page Plus...

Good morning,
I have a Droid Incredible, along with quite a few other Android phones. I previously used this phone on Page Plus. About a year ago I moved it's phone number to an Eris to give it to my Dad and it's been in a drawer ever since. I decided last week to reactivate on Page Plus and can't get it reactivated. It only sends and receives TXT, impossible to place a phone call.
To determine if this was a phone issue, I tried to activate two other phones (Moto and LG feature phones) and they do the exact thing. I think it is a problem in this market. I even tried to activate a Seattle number. Every time I attempt to make a call, it rings in short rings then goes "beep, beep, beep" and hangs up. I have spent countless hours talking to Page Plus and they just end the conversation that "this is an unsupported phone". So Page Plus appears to not work for me.
Sooooo....... I am also on i-Wireless Home (a Sprint MVNO) with a Hero. Good phone, slow but it gets the job done. I would like to replace it with the Inc. Possible? I did some searches and found some old threads (like 6) people asking about running on Sprint. They are over a year old. Has anyone got any thoughts on what is going on with Page Plus, or suggestions of another Verizon MVNO I can use to get the Incredible operational? Right now, it's just a feature rich PDA. Would like to be able to at least make a phone call on it.
I bring this question here only because the PP community has no idea what's wrong.
Cheers,
thom
Being an ex-PPC rep I can tell you from experience that the reps hands truly are tied in these situations. I'd recommend ensuring the device's NAM is programmed correctly (MDN, MIN, AND SID). does dialing *22890 change any of those values to something incorrect? Are you hearing any authentication issues? Did the rep contact WTS (known now as ODTS)? Although PPC specifically may not support the device other MVNOs may meaning wholesale support may be able to look into it further. Try submitting a support ticket or speaking to a tier one rep

I'm on PP+ with my D Inc and no problems at all. Go over to KittyWireless and shoot them an email and ask if they'd heard of this before and try to enlist their help.
(note: I am in no way affiliated with Kitty, I've been lurking for a few months now and registered last night to thank Jermaine with his Stock+ rom so that's why it's my first post )
I am SOOOO happy to report that my Incredible is finally on Page Plus. I have been working with Kitty, but they couldn't fix my problem.
Final solution was to call PPC for the 8th time and have them ESN swap to a device they had in house, activate, place the first call, then ESN swap back to me. I am now up and running, and couldn't be happier
Then again, I got upgraded with my company phone today to an AT&T Moto Atrix, so now I'm off to root that sucker

They deflashed my flashed BoostMobile EVO4G

Ok so I know I did the ultimate no-no with a flashed phone. BoostMobile tech support tried to update my profile. I know I shouldn't have done this. I called both Sprint and BoostMobile tech support for help. My Sprint EVO 4G, flashed to Boost, was being blocked by my boyfriend's Sprint Airave. This is the 2nd EVO4G I have had flashed to boost. The first one (lost forever!) was flashed for over a year, we had the airave then too with no conflict issues. Lost phone. Bought new one (sprint) had it flashed. Now it tries to use the airave.
Differences:: New phone is rooted with Synergy RLS1. Old one was not rooted and had stock ROM on it.
New issues:: CONSTANT notifications about voice mail update. (never had that before). Attempting any kind of call results in error from Airave. I understand WHY! I just want to Stop the BOOST-SPRINT communication and make calls like I did before.
Anyway, I told them the AIRAVE problem, and told them I had custom ROM, ROOT and FLASHED phone they said "No Problem! We know what to do". they screwed the phone up and then accidentally dropped the call. So here I am after days of searching, reading, contemplating, still without phone service. Booting the phone results in loop of ATTEMPTING HANDS FREE ACTIVATION. and many times while on. Under settings, System Updates if I click on update profile it says.....Previous DM session is working now please try again later.
Will I have to go through the whole flash process again? Since I just did this 3-4 weeks ago there isn't much I need to save on the phone. I have all the versions and settings numbers from the phone but just didn't know which ones to post.
Frustrated, Aggravated and Completely out of touch with the world!!!
I would have never gotten to days. After a few hours of no success, I would have just started over

yes I do appreciate the advice. And in moving forward that is the best choice.
Also in moving forward I am hoping that some of the senior members might have comments as to why the almost identical phone was now being blocked by the sprint Airave and getting the constant Sprint notifications of updated voice mail. Surely there is a way to shield the phone from the airave. Other than calling Sprint (no results) or calling Boost ( wrong results) someone has to have figured out a way to stop this.
Any speculations, suggestions, or comments?

That I do not know. I have not been able to reach the person who flashed the phone. I will ask that when I reach them. btw I have the original boost phone that was associated with my account before I flashed the first time. That was the donor then, I think. And I was thinking that I should re-register that phone before I flash back again with this 2nd phone. Is that thinking a valid thought?

I found the type of phone. I logged in under my account and it says the current phone is Sanyo SCP-6760 Incognito. I can use the account to change the the phone back to my original handset that I used for years and was the handset I used to fllash to the first EVO I had.

Yeah, I was gonna say, anytime you need to know what donor phone was used to flash your phone..just log into your Boost account and click on "Update Handset" this will tell you exactly what phone is on your account aka used as your donor phone. It will almost always be either the Incognito or Rant. ((But anyone thinking of flashing a phone, should never have this problem because you should always have physical possession of the donor used on your account..there is not one single reason why the person flashing your phone would need to hold on to your donor. Period. So always make sure that you ask for , and receive the donor phone used to activate your Sprint phone)))
That being said...Unfortunately, your phone is going to need reflashed again, and you definitely did not need to activate the previous donor on to your Boost account. You just needed to contact the person who flashed your phone and (hopefully) he still has your donor phone and will be able to pull your passwords (profile info ) out of it again and write it to your Sprint phone. (Like you already seem to be aware of) when your profile was reset, that meant that it did not match what was on your flashed Sprint phone. You'll need to (first activate the donor that was on your account before you just switched it to your previous one) and then update the profile (on that donor) and then put it on your Evo and you'll be good as new...OR just reflash your phone all together with the donor that you just activated on the account.
As far as the Voicemail Update issue...I have noticed this being pushed constantly to the Sprint phones also(including my Evo LTE on Boost) , I honestly don't believe there is a way to stop it. It doesn't really bother me anymore it just sits in the notification tray all the time. I imagine that eventually Sprint will stop pushing it to their phones. If I do ever come up with a fix for it though I will be sure to try and look this thread up or pm you with it. Good luck with getting your Evo back online...and word to the wise..never call Boost for anything if you have a flashed phone on your account...First off they will trouble shoot it as if its the donor phone..Second, their standard protocol is to Update the profile, and/or Factory reset the phone, either of which will interrupt the service on your flashed Sprint phone.

[Q] Cannot get data provisions on my old Evo 4G

I upgraded last June to the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, and 11 months later, after having it rooted, broken, replaced under Best Buy's Geek Squad Protection, only to have my new refurbished unit ruin a battery and refuse to stay connected to bluetooth, decided to sell it back to them with their buyback program they used to offer (got $280 for a phone I paid $100 for to begin with), and go back to my Evo 4G (I like Sense better than TouchWiz anyway).
The problem is that for whatever reason, my Evo, which worked fine at the time of my upgrade (aside from a cracked screen), will not actually activate. It's running CWM v4.0.1.4, with Android version 2.3.5. I replaced the screen on it, tried to activate it on Sprint's website with as much success as they can give me, however, the phone itself doesn't connect to any sort of satellite. The only way I have any form of connectivity with it is via WiFi. "No big deal, I'll just switch to my girlfriend's old Evo until I can figure out my phone's issue," I thought. Fast forward to getting hers activated, everything works just fine - calls, text, wifi, 3G, 4G, the whole nine yards. Hers is running the same CWM and the same Android as mine, but hers works.
I've tried flashing mine back to a stock ROM (I forget what is on it right now), I've tried updating the PRL a hundred times, but always get an error message about it not being able to complete. I've even tried letting it sit for 24 hours,as several sources on the internet have told me it can take up to 24 hours to provision completely.
The only thing I haven't tried is physically calling Sprint, because they're weird about rooted phones, from what I've found in my research. I've seen claims that Sprint won't do anything with rooted phones, or that they can't tell that they're rooted and still can't figure anything out.
Will Sprint be of any assistance if I call, or will it be wasting my time? I've seen so many people with similar issues which Sprint, for whatever reason, simply cannot figure out. Is there anything beyond calling Sprint I haven't tried yet?
What ROM are you on? Stock, AOSP, what?
If you're on a Sense ROM, just call Sprint & tell them what the problem is. They won't know the phone is rooted unless you tell them it is.

4g connection issues with note 10+ 5g

This is going to be long but I want to make sure I give as much details as possible. I went to preorder a note 10+ 5g. Was going to do a trade in but right before I finished the order decided to go with the BOGO deal instead and add a friend to my account. I received both of the phones and had 4g issues. Most apps had trouble loading anything. If I waited with the app open eventually it would start loading things up but not all apps acted like this. They may hang some but worked ok. Speed tests showed I had a good signal. After talking with tech support on the phone and going to Verizon stores several times they still couldn't get things to act right. They switched sim and phone out in store. One of the store managers said my first order was pending and that 1 if not both of the phones I had were supposed to be in there warehouse and that I wasn't even supposed to have them. They told me the best thing to do was to return the phones and start over. They had trouble returning the phones since I wasn't even supposed to have them. What they had to do was to charge me the full amount of both phones to my account and the credit me the amount. They said after my billing cycle was over they would do it and once my account was back to normal then try to upgrade again (still ended up paying extra on my bill for that ). So I went into Verizon yesterday and did my upgrade and still had the same issue and if I wanted to return them again I'd have to pay the $50 restocking fee . So I called them AGAIN! They have a ticket out but I tried to see what I could figure out on my own. I downloaded a network switcher app and went to 3g and everything was slow but worked fine. Everything also works fine on wifi. One thing I noticed in the app when I ran a ping was that IPv4 connected but IPv6 failed. It said IPv6: fail (1). Anyone else having this issue or know what's going on or know a fix? This is very annoying!

A couple years back we had problems with my daughter not being able to send or receive text messages and after endless efforts on the phone and going to the phone store where they suggest a new phone we looked on her Verizon account and she had some restrictions on there somehow for sending text messages. Long story short look at your account with Verizon and look at every single little nitty-gritty detailed setting - there might be something on your phone line or both phone lines that disallow 4g? Have the store try a different SIM card - NOT ON YOUR ACCOUNT, BUT A DIFFERENT ACCOUNY - and if the 4G works fine on the phone with a different sim card with a different phone number and account then the problem is with the carrier account you have...

I went through everything and didn't see nothing. As soon as I returned the phones and went back to my note 8 without making changes to my account everything worked like it was supposed to again.
RE: 4G Connection Issues with Note 10+ 5G
Hello,
I had the same phone with the same issue and am on the phone with Verizon Wireless now. We found that the 5G version will not read the 4G signal like it is supposed for some reason. So if you are not in a 5G area the data will not work. I just switched to the non-5G version of the Note 10+. We found this out by switching my plan to one that did not have 5G attached and everything worked just fine until we switched it back to the plan with 5G attached.
