Call Out Fails and Dialer Won't Hang Up - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,
I've googled and searched the forums to find but have not had any luck.
On my VZW stock nexus, I've had this is come up twice in two weeks (had my nexus for 3). I try to dial out to a number already in my call log by hitting the phone on the far right. Attempting to call out, the dialer just says Dialing, but the call timer never comes up, as it never connects tje call. It then promts me saying call cannot be made. However, the dialer doesn't close out, nor will it let me hang up the call. All the while, I cannot make other calls, calls and my data is locked up/not functioning. I tried force stopping the dialer, and deleting data, but it doesn't appear to have fixed the problem. A reboot was needed each time.
Thoughts?

I just did a good ol factory reset. We'll see if that helps it at all.
UPDATE: the same event occurred after factory resetting. Does it sound like a hardware issue or software?

same issue
I have been having the same problem. It also does it with text messages; it just sends them back and says it failed to send. I have to reboot the phone to get texting to work again, same as with phone calls. Did anyone figure anything out about this?

Having the same problem with an HTC one m7, changed several ROMs, nothing found on the internet...it may be some hardware problem.

Can't send texts?

I have no idea what happened, but on I Thursday (I *think) I was no longer able to send texts (no idea if I can still receive them, I don't get too many). However I think I can still get calls (Again, not sure). At first I thought MIUI was starting to glitch on me or something so I went back to CM7.0.3.1. I tried to update my radios from the latest EVO Gingerbread release but it doesn't work with ClockworkMod 3.0 I guess.
What do I do?
Well I guess I screwed something up when setting up Google Voice I think. Now people get "The recipient you are sending to has chosen not to recieve messages." whenever they text me. I don't know what I did.
Same problem
I'm having the exact same problem, I lost the ability to receive texts around the same time. If you did get it solved, let me know.

No, didn't find anything. I just resorted to using Google Voice for texting; after Googling around and making a thread on reddit, nothing has worked.
Did either of you recently try wiping battery stats? I've found that if I wipe battery stats with ClockworkMod, for some reason I lose the ability to receive texts.
Same thing happened to me only it highjacked my incoming calls and texts....I tried everything, including deleting my Google acct.,..called Sprint, I had to unroot my Evolution, put stock ROM back on, called them back, we were able to input some codes in the dialer. to reset phone. The leech known as Google Voice is finally gone, rerooted, good to go. SPRINT was actually cool with me being rooted. SPRINT kicks ass! Good luck!

Really?! Do you remember what the numbers were or if Sprint has them on their website or something?
Google sprint tech support, their toll free number will pop up, call from a landline, not your cell so they can reactivate your phone

Unable to receive text from a certain number

Hi, I've tested/re-tested and have found that while I am able to send a text message to a certain number, I am unable to receive any from that number. I've done a hard reset on the phone and even called the sprint hotline (who were unable to figure it out). The sprint people saw all the texts on the server that are destined for my phone from that number but I did/do not receive them.
I've used handcent as well as the native messaging app but no cigar.
Does anyone have any insight into what may be happening here.
Is it the persons phone who is trying to send it? If u can send and receive it doesn't sound like your phone.

I use google voice integration and had this problem before. form some reason gv marked my wife's number as spam and blocked her calls and texts. I couldn't even call or text her either. so if you're using gv check the spam filter.
Do know what kind of phone they're using? Its possible they need a hard reset...
We had a lady in yesterday who couldn't send texts to 5 different people, a hard reset fixed it for her.

I did a hard reset on the phone and the problem remains. Yes, I do have google voice on the phone but I think after the hard reset, the application was removed. Would my number still be blocked in the spam filter? I'll check the voice.google.com site out.

The phone I'm not receiving texts from is a nexus S phone that has t-mobile service.

The are google voice settings that persist after the app is removed, definitely check out the desktop settings. This sounds like an issue on that line not on your epic.

As it turns out, the issue was on Sprint's side. They had escalated the issue to their networking department on Friday. On Sunday all of a sudden all of the missing texts started pouring into the Epic 4g. Apparently the engineers had reset something to get this to work although they haven't contacted me about it. So far from what I can see, the problem is resolved now.
The problem happened again. The Epic 4g Touch is no longer getting messages from the Nexus S. Messages from all other numbers show up.
I'm getting tired of this since it takes 2 escalations at Sprint to fix this problem (Networking dept). Since we just bought the phone, I think it's just best to return it.

I had the same problem and found a fairly easy solution.
Just switch SIM cards with someone who uses the same network as you. Boot up with the other SIM and then switch off and put your SIM back in. It should be back to normal

SMS not being received until device reboot

Has anyone had any problems not receiving sms messages until the device is rebooted? There are times where the phone will function just fine until I restart it and see that text messages are flooding in. This is only happening on the Note 3 and not the Nexus 5 which is also under t-mobile.

What did you do
TWEAKED N3
I've noticed if I toggle WiFi calling off instead of reboot, texts will download. The only problem with leaving WiFi calling off, is that MMS/picture messages won't send or receive. Also group messaging will not be in a group thread until WiFi calling is toggled back on.
The obvious questions anyone asks should have the most obvious answer. What is your ROM, KERNEL. what tweaks did YOU improvised

I would look to see if you restricted background data of your sms apps or any sync apps. It sounds like you restricted something hence why it syncs on reboot.
check APN settings

It would not sync on reboot if the apn settings weren't correct if I'm not mistaken
Nothing has been restricted as far as apps go. This is on the stock rom, never rooted 4.4.2 KK. I tried adding APN settings manually, but received same results. If this isn't been an known issue with anyone else, I think a factory reset may be in order.

Yeah, fdr is likely next best step
Try changing your network apn settings to ip v4/v6. I was having the same issues, and this fixed it.

Power cycle the device by turning off for 30 seconds and then on again. I hope it will help!!!!!!!!
What's wrong asking him about the factory reset?

If you recently used an iOS device with the same number you have on your Galaxy Note 3, then reset your iMessage via your Apple account. That should do it.
If it’s a different issue, then I am left to assume what happened to your phone. I don’t even know if you can send a text message just fine or not. But if you can and are using a third-party messaging app, please try disabling it first to see if that would solve the problem. It could be just a little messed up setting.
If, however, you can’t send and receive text messages, call your service provider or carrier first and have your SIM card checked.

Factory reset was not required. I was able to correct this by leaving wifi-calling enabled, but setting the wifi-calling preference to cellular preferred. So far so good, been about a week now with no issues.
I know that the SGS5 received an update recently to fix sms/mms issues, so I don't know if the same would ever be pushed to the note 3.

Sms issues

I have only had my Sprint GNote4 since Friday morning and i love the phone. But, i started having a odd issue today. All of the sudden my phone will not send or receive sms text messages, it just says message failed to send. I am using the stock messaging app, however i also tried hangouts and got the same result. What is even more strange to me is how i get texting to work again. What seems to work is i attempt to make a phone call, it immediately fails, but then on the second attempt the call goes through. ...then my text messages all go through. I apologize if someone has posted this, but i didn't see anything about it when i searched.
Anyone see this issue too or am i just special?

Do you by chance have an airave and live in an area being upgraded? Had that issue where I live. If so, turn off the airave and see if it changes the issue. Sprint has a newer version they will swap out if this turns out to be the problem. Hope this helps.
If you mean the update in the system aettings, yes i did try that. Thanks for replying though.
No, i do not have an airwave, but i do believe i am in an area with Spark, i have the litttle swirling star icon next to my LTE icon. Thanks getting back to me.
Here is what it looks like. Sorry if i sound noobish, i just switched to Sprint.

Thanks for the tip, i will try it the next time it happens. Im thinking of flashing a custom ROM to see if it is some sort of bloat crap causing it.
Using the phone here in india on a cdma carrier. outgoing sms works fine. Incoming sms dont! Tried to work around a lot. no avail. Ooh and on GSM sms works fine. but on cdma. nothing

I am still having the issue, and I also have found that my phone calls are not coming through all of the time. I am starting to suspect my SIM may be the cause. I am currently using my phone with LTE disabled to see how it goes.
Do you have adblock or another ad blocking app installed? If so remove the app and see if that fixes your issues.
No adblock apps installed. It happens on stock and custom roms too.
