GS3 and Nexus 4 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Well i have a quick question
Do you guyz know if the Sim card of my GS3 (Bell) will work on the Nexus 4? Coz i plan to buy it and use it as a secondary phone (but with same number, so same Sim card I guess).
Sorry for this if its a stupid question.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, the sim card will work because it uses the same micro-sim cards.

Another random question
Do you think its worth it to buy it considering I have an S3?
Its just that i love technology and can afford it (coz its cheap, not coz im rich )
Main reason: Im a flash addict also. And considering its a nexus, i think it will have a lot
What do you guyz think of this?

If you have the money to play around than why not, but for people with a gs3 already and are on contract its not worth it at all, but if you like flashing new ROMs and the customizing your phone than yes

Yeah, this is one of those situations that you have to decide for yourself. I would love to tinker with a N4 but i'd find the back and forth between my S3 and that to be annoying after a while.

Anyone want to jump ship...

Okay please ignore if you are not interested. I already have a thread in the marketplace and have tried many other times. I am wondering if anyone here with a gsm gnex is willing to do a straight trade for a white unlocked sgs 2 for Tmobile. I have extra stock accesories which include extra battery , mhl adapter, and hdmi cable. I know its a long shot but just casting my net. Ive had it for a few Weeks and still have box. Anyways, please pm me. No I wont do trade plus cash. Oh and I dont care for your extras, just want the phone, USB cables and charger and possibly the box. Thanks.

Good luck with that. The SGSII isn't worth what the GNex is. Bottom line.
They're better off selling their GNex and buying a SGSII and pocketing $100.
Guess you might find someone willing to do it with no hassle but they'd have to be willing to take a loss.
So aside from the OS difference , lack of sd card slot, and similar specs, the gnex is somehow worth more?

Its a newer phone. Go look on any site it sells for more... Even brand new SGSII isn't worth a used GNex on the market right now.

You have to import the GNexus whereas the SGS2 can be gotten just about anywhere. Supply vs demand.
Thanks for the input. Ill try selling it on cl and make up the difference.

Fair enough you prefer the SG2, I prefer many aspects of it over the Gnex as well. But it came out 6 months after the Galaxy S2 so obviously it's going to cost more.

[Q] At&t Quadrant scores?

Does anyone know the quadrant benchmark scores. i have seen the international one get around 5700-5900, so i was wondering what are the scores the at&t galaxy s3 version. I'm seriously thinking of getting this phone but i don't want to make the wrong choice and regret it later

I I got 5025 on a stock rooted ROM. I may have been OC'd to 1890mhz but I honestly dont remember.
what do you think you'll regret? its a great phone and i've been very pleased with everything the phone can do.
is there a specific task you're concerned about?
also are you upgrading or buying it with out a contract?
I just read about a quad core 1.7ghz HTC ONE X phone coming to att. Don't know if its true, but if it is, I'll be kicking this GS3 to the curb real fast. Has to have 2gb of ram too though.

I think that ill probably regret the fact when I see a person with the international version, and I see how fast that phone is, its going to make the SGH-I747 look slow. I'm a major gamer so that's where the 4 cores will truly show off how great the phone is, and I'm worried that the att galaxy s3 just wont be as good. The unlocked international version cost like 600 dollars, and that is wayyyyyyyy more than I'm willing to spend on a phone.
Basically I want to know how the art compares to the international one, especially in high 3d graphics intensive gaming. I understand that it wont be asssssssss good as the international version, but its still preety good right?!
My sprint contract ends in August and I'm switching to att ( I'm getting 3gb of data, and I live in new York so I get LTE)
Also one more thing that keep forgetting to ask is, how much bloatware is on the phone?
Thanks to everyone in advance

Yeah I just checked it out myself, if HTC announces it before I get the s3 than ill wait for it, but if I already bought it I can't, because att has like a 18-20 month upgrade period.
Still this all just romoured, and if it does come out and it becomes the international version(it probably will because I don't expect a quad core LTE compatible phone for the next year or year and a half),not the us version I'm going to get soooooooo angry. I really wished that at&t gave me a choice between international and us version and allowed me to pick if I wanted the LTE compatible one or not, but sadly they don't

about to buy a s3

I'm ready to buy a s3 for tmobile. I have a few questions:
- Any advice before buying one?
- Should I take any safety precaution before buying on the street? [I heard of people buy phones from people that cancel their plan on the carrier right after]
- Should I just save up and buy the beefed up model the i9305? [I dont really use the phone for internet that much, but I like games and apps]

I love this phone, above all other android phones which is alot.
If at all possible buy from t-mobile. In the street if you are lucky you will get one for $350 to $400. If you have an upgrade available then you will paying about that much, unless you go thru customer loyalty or retention department(really depends if you been with them 2 or more yrs for best deals, so I have read).
I have not had any stuters while playing a couple games , darkknight rises, robo defense, spades and a few others
If you are able to play with phone before buying. Press *#0*# and it will show you Lcdtest page. Which will let you test all hardware function of phone .

alright cool, i'll try it out when i get the chance
Id advise against buying "off the street". Too many have gotten screwed doing that.
But many have got great deals that way too, so its your call.
I wouldn't get the international version. You won't get as great of speed as the T999. Maybe 3g if your areas been refarmed.
LTE is too far off still to make that a buying point imo. By the time your area gets it you'll be ready to get a better phone. GS5 maybe!?
That's a great point btw about doing the hardware testing before buying off the street!
Ill add that if you can, go with the seller to a tmobile store to check the imei isn't blacklisted and get the seller to have them print something showing the phone has been 100% paid off.

Well I can get it but I'm gonna need to sale my s2. I think I'll get more if I sale it rooted already then I would unrooted that way I wouldn't be paying so much for the phone.

Really quick questions

I know this a different forum but I know some people will know this.
My brother will be here in the states for 1 year and he wants the gs3, so we will be buying an at&t phone to use the sim card from gosmart. Now my question is, will the phone just work like that? What im afraid (like with sprint) if you brake your contract the phone will have bad esn, is it thr same case with gsm phones?
Thank you very much for your time!
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
This is just from what I've heard from people about this sort of thing, not an expert by any means. Is it unlocked, probably not if it is a contract phone. So you won't be able to use it.
Edit
Wait I'm not sure what go smart is? So you want to buy a phone here and use it here for a year then take it back over seas? Anything you do depends if it is unlocked or not. If it is unlocked, sometimes your carrier has to do this like Verizon, you can do whatever you want with it. If it is locked you either have to get it unlocked or possibly flash it yourself which is now illegal again.

For GSM phones though, I think that the sim card is all you need unlike CDMA phones where you need a clean ESN as well

[Q] Brightspot Samsung GS-3 on T-Mobile network

Brightspot just launched a couple of days ago, and I see a good price for S3 off-contract - the full name of this phone is "Brightspot Samsung Galaxy SIII Cell Phone - White (T999L)". I'm thinking about buying this device and use it with my T-Mobile sim, but was curious to find out if anyone did the same thing and was successful? Do I have to unlock it... would the data work with my T-Mobile sim...? The reps at Target don't seem to know, or they are not willing to tell me the truth

If it's a t999l it should work straight out the box. If not just unlock
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It's just a guess, but if it's a T999L, it should be identical to T-Mobile's in every way, including its firmware. Anytime a carrier wants different firmware, they usually give it a different model number.
For example, Metro PCS has the T999N. It is a T999L, only the firmware is different, and doesn't have T-Mobile apps/bloat, but this got it its own model number.
Basically I'm saying it should work with T-Mobile's SIM with nothing done. But, like I said, I am guessing here. If you do need to unlock there are online services as little as $5 out there.
Do you have a link to where you saw it? How much were they asking?

Those are both deal breakers for me. It's just another way the manufacturers can try to dictate how you use hardware you purchased. And to ensure you'll be back to spend more money when the battery dies or you run out of storage.
Anyway, those were both at the top of my list when deciding if I should ditch HTC for this S3.
Sorry for OT, just thought I'd throw that out there!

It is nice to have expandable storage and the option to change batteries. I had the option of the S3 or nexus 4, its obvious which phone I chose. The back of the nexus 4 being glass (fragile glass) was the deal breaker.
The S3 is nice and I've learned quite a few things since I've had it and its a tough phone, I've dropped it a few times and it doesn't have a single mark on it (guess I'm somewhat lucky).
Op if you decide to go with the S3, backup the imei before you start flashing ROMs. There's a few methods on how to do it, you should be able to find them easily.
