Headphone jack not responsive - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

My headphone jack decided to stop working, wondering if theres a fix that does not require flashing. I hope I don't need to send this out for repair
Thanks

Try a set of speakers that you would hook up to a pc if it still wont work its probably a bad jack

just flashed to At&t ICS now its stuck on headphone mode and won't play through the speakers
UPDATE: weird it just fixed itself...
When I plug it in, I have to twist it for the headphones to work.

I just started experiencing this today. The phone "is not recognizing" when I plug in or unplug the headphones.
I was listening to a podcast, got a call, unplugged my headphones, the person could hear me but I couldn't hear them. Restarted phone, everything was good. 30 minutes later, another call, same thing. Then I tested it by starting the podcast then plugging in the headphones. Had to plug them in 4 or 5 times to get it to "catch".
The fact that restarting fixes it, makes me feel like it a software issue. I've been having other issues, so I think I'm going to reflash.

An issue while connected to car via AUX

I've noticed an issue while you're connected through an AUX cable to your car. I generally use AUX to play music, but I also use it to answer calls. When you're phone is connected to AUX and you receive a call, the listener on the other end of the line cannot hear you no matter how loud you scream to the phone. I realized that soon as i pulled the cable from the phone, the person was able to hear me. AUX only outputted what the person was saying through my car speakers, but it did not let me talk. With the EVO 4G, this was not an issue. Just wanted to point this out. Any workarounds would be nice
Im having no issues with mine. I'm able to listen through my car speakers and talk into the phone. Are you rooted?

Im stock rooted, happens on normal too. This only occurs in a phone call. Make sure youre not doing voice commands or something. Can you confirm everything is working?
Works fine for me. I use Calks 2.7 ROM

How is this an issue in stock? hmm. Can anyone on STOCK confirm this?
It may be your aux cable. It would seem as your phone believes you have a headset plugged in.
No its a known issue, but technically not an "issue". I already brought this up in our internal forums at sprint, and the reply given by one of the engineers was that they contacted Samsung, and this behavior was implemented by design. I brought it up because i noticed this behavior myself, and its since been confirmed. However, i thought when i had the issue it was when it was charging simultaneously? I can't remember.
Also, it was on stock.

This happened to me today. I thought the person on the other end was deaf. I was getting annoyed so I hung up.
I have to apologize now. I hope they fix it because it comes in handy while driving.

Glad it's confirmed i'm not the only one lmao.
I haven't experienced this my with E4GT in it's car dock (don't remember if it happens without a dock), but I used to get that constantly from my Palm Pre and this thread is reminding me of how frustrating that phone was!
This doesn't make sense because the tip of my (and I'm assuming your) aux cable looks like any other headphone jack so I'm not sure why it's problematic, but it must be just long enough to make a phone think it's a headset.
I use my aux cable every day and have never experienced this problem

Maybe it's something to do with the AUX cable?

How are some issue free?
I have the same issue when answering a phone call.
but the strange thing is when I plug in the aux cable, the voice & talk pop up and asks: what would you like to do?
the thing puzzles me is if phone's mic is able to listen under voice & talk, why not in phone conversation?

FWIW, this is my AUX cable it works fine on using Calks Rom

Completely unfunctional headphone Jack

I haven't used any headphones for a couple months, just speakers, but today I went and plugged it headphones and the jack doesn't work at all, I've tried with 5 different pairs, there's not even a headphone symbol that shows up on the status bar. anybody else had this problem? I'm on stock bell Rom by the way.

Sometimes lint from your pocket can get stuck inside the headphone port. Try using a toothpick or small tweezers to pull it out if you can see some in there. It might be preventing the headphones from making a connection.
If that's not it, then I have no idea.

I sorta have that too, just push the headphone in and u should be fine. It may feel loose but if the headphone symbol shows up, you're good.

I've tried pushing it in as far as I can, makes the little click, but still no headphone symbol.. Worked fine before, not sure how it can just stop working.

Static when using through car aux

Hey,
I've been experiencing an issue with the aux out in my car that only happens when I use the note other phones sound fine. There is static that sounds like wind blowing. Any ideas would be great I'm thinking of taking it to a car audio guy.

Are you charging your Note II at the same time? It could be alternator whine coming through the charging circuit. You can fix it by adding a ground loop isolator between the phone and auxiliary input.
I am not charging at the same time and it also happens when the engine is off.

Do you hear the interference with headphones too? If headphones also produce the noise and other phones connected to the car do not, then it might be a hardware problem with the jack.

No, headphones sound fine. It's really strange.
I have the same issue and believe it is due to the jack not being able to completely be inserted. look at the back cover when its plugged in and tell me if you see some of the plug exposed.. could be wrong but pisses me off as well
Prerty staight forqard then. Its not your phone causing it. Try swapping out the cable?

An update in the issue... I ordered a ground loop isolator from amazon and the problem disappeared seems to work fine it was only 10 bucks so not that big of a deal.

[Q] Problems with the G2 Vision phone

I am completely new to this so please forgive my ignorance. I am having trouble with my G2 Vision. Let me describe the situation. My phone suddenly began having problems. Mainly, it's ear-speaker makes no sound when I send or receive calls, even though plugging in an ordinary pair of earbuds allows me to hear the person speaking. At the same time the mic is affected, because the caller cannot hear me either. However, if I turn on the Speaker option during the call, the outer speaker and mic work properly. The normally loud outer speaker, however, is no longer working if I try to play music on my phone, though the player works if I plug in the aforementioned earbuds. (The outer speaker can make sounds though, because it beeps when I put the phone's volume settings all the way up.) The really strange thing though, is that as soon as I plug in my earbuds my music starts playing automatically. Now, I already tried a factory reset and it didn't work. But before I did the reset, I had another music program on my phone as well, and as soon as I would plug in my earbuds, both music programs would start playing; the one that came with the phone normally, the one I had installed glitching. I really couldn't find any information that fit all these factors and since I know you guys are the experts, I came to you for help. Anyone know what the real problem is and how I can fix it? I would really appreciate any help you could give me.
My best guess sounds like you need to replace the main flex cable, about 30$ and takes 30min, hour if your new to this kind of stuff

How do I do that? Any hints?
First find the cable, usually eBay has them. Next find a disassembly guide either here on xda or YouTube or use the Google
Then follow the disassembly guide of choice once the new cable arrives, swap cables, reassemble, profit

[Q] Headphone jack got broken in my phone!

I was listening to music, then I was planning to go on my laptop. I unplugged the headphones and the tip broke and it's stuck inside of the phone. I tried using super glue, and doing other stuff, but I couldn't. I was thinking that can I use my speakers if the piece is still in there. Can I disable something to make the phone think that the earphones are not connected?
I had that happen to my iPod! Best thing is i took a tac and kept picking at it till it came out, unless i think you could take your phone apart otherwise I don't know any software fixes for that
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Actually, its real easy and cheap 2 change the headphone jack, it comes with the speaker, on ebay the part is around 12-15$
