I haven't used any headphones for a couple months, just speakers, but today I went and plugged it headphones and the jack doesn't work at all, I've tried with 5 different pairs, there's not even a headphone symbol that shows up on the status bar. anybody else had this problem? I'm on stock bell Rom by the way.

Sometimes lint from your pocket can get stuck inside the headphone port. Try using a toothpick or small tweezers to pull it out if you can see some in there. It might be preventing the headphones from making a connection.
If that's not it, then I have no idea.

I sorta have that too, just push the headphone in and u should be fine. It may feel loose but if the headphone symbol shows up, you're good.

I've tried pushing it in as far as I can, makes the little click, but still no headphone symbol.. Worked fine before, not sure how it can just stop working.

Hey XDA,
I bought my Desire HD online from the Australian Vodafone store, since doing so I have rooted it (and lost the original image). Recently I have had issues with headphones on the phone, the right channel cuts in and out reguarly and the left channel doesn't get anything through it.
Is my best chance trying to find a stock Desire HD image online somewhere and sending back, or can someone suggest something else?
Also worth noting, I bought a new set of headphones today to test and they had the same issues.
Have tested with cm7 and rchmix
Cheers,
priorax.
I had a similar issue, check the headphone port for pocket fluff, i know it sounds daft but it worked for me. Use an unfolded paperclip to remove any fluff / lint that's in there.
Hope that sorts it out!
If you aren't using stock headphones, try Headset Blocker;

If they're original, maybe an issue with the socket or board = warranty. In this case have a search around for returning phone to stock branded, removing S-off etc. I think you need to dig out the gold card

Haven't used stock headphones at all. Shall try headset blocker.
I saw a minor improvement with headset blocker, however if I so much as touch the male part of the headphone connector, it cuts out one channel.
No one uploads stock images by any chance, do they?
Headset Blocker will not help your issue. It has nothing to do with your problem. Sounds like you have pocket lint in your plug or your plug is coming loose off of the motherboard. Or...... have you tried another set of headphones as yours may have breaks in the wires?

I have tried so far:
Sony (can't remembr model number)
Cheap Phillips ones I bought from the supermarket for testing
Plantronics Gamecom 367
Plantronics Gamecom 377
3 seperate 3.5mm cables going to a headphone amp with the Sony's as output
The Phillips were DOA.
Every other alternative had this issue.
After testing each set on my phone, I tried them on my laptop, and they worked fine (except for the Phillips, this was about 20 minutes after buying, so I'm claiming DOA).
Seems you've tried everything except original HTC, so apart from that,.....
Warranty or repair. Have a search of the forums and google for return to branded stock firmware.

My headphone jack decided to stop working, wondering if theres a fix that does not require flashing. I hope I don't need to send this out for repair
Thanks

Try a set of speakers that you would hook up to a pc if it still wont work its probably a bad jack
Sent from my LT28at using xda premium
just flashed to At&t ICS now its stuck on headphone mode and won't play through the speakers
UPDATE: weird it just fixed itself...
When I plug it in, I have to twist it for the headphones to work.
I just started experiencing this today. The phone "is not recognizing" when I plug in or unplug the headphones.
I was listening to a podcast, got a call, unplugged my headphones, the person could hear me but I couldn't hear them. Restarted phone, everything was good. 30 minutes later, another call, same thing. Then I tested it by starting the podcast then plugging in the headphones. Had to plug them in 4 or 5 times to get it to "catch".
The fact that restarting fixes it, makes me feel like it a software issue. I've been having other issues, so I think I'm going to reflash.

Hey,
I've been experiencing an issue with the aux out in my car that only happens when I use the note other phones sound fine. There is static that sounds like wind blowing. Any ideas would be great I'm thinking of taking it to a car audio guy.

Are you charging your Note II at the same time? It could be alternator whine coming through the charging circuit. You can fix it by adding a ground loop isolator between the phone and auxiliary input.
I am not charging at the same time and it also happens when the engine is off.

Do you hear the interference with headphones too? If headphones also produce the noise and other phones connected to the car do not, then it might be a hardware problem with the jack.

No, headphones sound fine. It's really strange.
I have the same issue and believe it is due to the jack not being able to completely be inserted. look at the back cover when its plugged in and tell me if you see some of the plug exposed.. could be wrong but pisses me off as well
Prerty staight forqard then. Its not your phone causing it. Try swapping out the cable?

An update in the issue... I ordered a ground loop isolator from amazon and the problem disappeared seems to work fine it was only 10 bucks so not that big of a deal.

Could be nothing..
I just noticed that the bright frame you get when you enable flash in front facing camera mode is really pink-ish color.
Is this normal? Or is it supposed to be white?
Thanks in advance XD

I believe it's normal. Mine is that way, too. They probably didn't go with plain white for some reason or another

What issue was that?
Would show a quick aux wire logo instead of headphone jack when plugged in any 3.55 mm jack and no sound would play from the jack only from device speaker. Did 3 reboots 2 battery pulls and still had the problem. The 2nd i walk in the store i plug it up to their headphones and it works fine. So i try mine again as i bought my headphones there too and i would just exchange those and they worked again. No problem since tho juat thought id mention it bc i see im not the only one. I dot know why it happend or what fixed it though
Hello All,
I have been having issues with my headphone jack. It started out with static on the headphone jacks and ended up becoming completely dead in a span of 2 months. Reading through many of the Google search results, I did what everyone suggested. Tightened the screws near the camera and then replaced the headphone jack assembly. I am still not able to make it work. The earpiece is working fine though. Any suggestions?

Have you tried different headphones?
Are they are plugged in all the way?
If you push the headphone plug in a direction perpendicular to the jack (try several directions), does it make it any better/worse?
I had issues with my headphone jack and I just replaced it today and it works perfectly. Are you sure the cable connecting the jack to the motherboard is connected completely? You could also inspect the connector on the motherboard to make sure the connector looks in good shape with nothing bent, etc. If all is well and you are confident the replacement was good, I would say your motherboard could be bad...which is a little strange since your earpiece is working and it uses the same connection.
I give mine a good smack against a hard object. Usually just below the camera lens, and under the headphone jack works the best. I know it sounds like I'm joking, but seriously, give it a shot. I suspect the root cause is probably a loose connector, but I've never cracked mine open.

Try tightening the screws on the back of the phone. I have heard it can fix the loose connection.
