What are you trying to do to your i927? Root or unlock?
Root = full access to your device software
Unlock = access to other cellular phone carriers
I successfully rooted with Android 4.0.4. Do you want to stay on Android 2.3 or upgrade to Android 4?
If so, then go to this topic and download the file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831561
When downloaded, turn your phone off. Open the application that you downloaded. Hold down the Up-Volume Button on your phone and power on to boot into Imaging Recovery mode. The application should recognize the phone. Then, click "Start."
Let it upgrade the phone -- then reboot the phone and make sure Android 4.0.4 is running and working.
Then download this file and store it on your phone (Rooted ROM):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945558
Then, download the CWMR 5 OR Touch 6 from this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766533
Put CWMR md5 in Odin 1.85's PDA slot and then run (make sure phone is in Imaging Recovery mode again).
Then, once that is done, you can boot into CWMR by holding the volume down button and pressing the power button.
Then, navigate to the Rooted ROM that you saved on your phone and "Install zip from sdcard"
You will now have root.
hello, i tried to root by this way but, rom download and cwmr 5 link are vaild...
please tell me where i can get these files...
リンクがわるいですか,それともリンクがいいですか?
Sorry, I don't have a Japanese keyboard enabled where I'm at, so I have to copy/paste hiragana to make (poor) sentences.
The links worked for me and others...
Rom data can dowmload but download stops at when downloading about 10 percent.
As for CWMR 5 ,please show me what link should i choice by using picture.
if you can, please send me all data to [email protected]

First of all I just want to let you know there are hundreds guys, like you, that don't bother to read the installation instructions and then beg and plead for the forum to fix your problems which the disclaimer states that the OP is NOT responsible if you brick your device or cause damages to it. Second, if you bothered to read the "Rules" for the forum you would know that the General section is meant for such and the Q&A(Questions and Answers) section is meant for such. Please read something. At least once. Please.
I'm not burning you man all I'm saying is calm down and have patience with flashing custom roms because as you found out it can, and will, brick your device, sometimes permanently.
Okay now back to business, the "Odin" program(version3.07) I believe, don't quote me, does NOT work on a Mac at least to my knowledge.
If you have a windows xp computer please get on there and download the Odin software then go to here, http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-I747, and then while that is downloading go to the AT&T Galaxy Slll Android Development section, not the "Original" section, and download the [Samsung Galaxy S3 QCOM ToolKit v2.3] and install it.
After it's started and it asks to update type, yes, and press enter. After that is finished press the number, 1(one), for AT&T SGH-I747 and then enter. If you have the drivers installed already skip this step, if you don't have the drivers installed press the number 1(one) and install.
Afterwards you can press the number 8(eight), Download, Extract + Flash Stock ROM via Odin, then after entering the #8 section select #2.
In this section it asks you to put the Stock ROM into, put_odin_images_here, which can only hold one file at a time.
Go to your downloads folder, on your PC, and drag the Stock ROM file onto the desktop. Next go to my computer and locate your Samsung Galaxy Slll QCOM program files, check where you downloaded it to, and then click on the folder to open it.
You should see something like...
backups
drivers
INPUT
mods
OUTPUT
etc.
Drag the Stock ROM to the put_odin_images_here folder and then go back to the Galaxy Slll QCOM program.
Type the letter, R, to refresh the list and it should show 1 file found and also FILE NOT FOUND(ignore this message).
It asks if the file you put into the folder is the one you want to extract. Type, yes, and press enter.
After it's finished it will put the extracted file into OUTPUT, I believe =P, and then you return to the QCOM program.
Go back to the main screen and then press number 8(eight) then enter and then press number 4(four), Flash Stock ROM via odin, press enter.
Press the number 1(one) and let it do it's thing. If it doesn't want to enter your custom recovery then skip this step.
Afterwards press the number 2(two), Flash Stock ROM via odin, and then follow the steps.
If this doesn't work for you consult with the original poster of the ROM in a private message and let him know that you screwed up and that it's your fault for not reading and you would really appreciate his help.
I'm sorry I seem mean about all of this by the way it's nothing personal and in fact I was treated much worse back in the Sprint Epic 4G Touch forums way back when and I learned a lot from their criticism.
Keep learning the terminology and skills and you'll get it down soon enough.
A bit of advice as well...don't flash a ROM that isn't the same O.S. level as your stock phone. (Ice Cream Sandwich stock/ ICS custom ROM)
Maybe it's because you tried flashing Jellybean 4.1.4.

Samsung's second generation Galaxy Note has recently received latest Jelly Bean software version, Android 4.3. The update is released for both HSPA+ and LTE variants of the handset bearing model number GT-N7100 and GT-N7105.
The new stock build of Android 4.3 carries a host of new features including improved UI, new Keyboard, Samsung Knox and Samsung Wallet.
Users can grab the Android 4.3 update by connecting the Galaxy Note 2 to the computer and use Samsung KIES or use OTA (Over-The-Air) service. Navigate to Settings>> More>> About device>> Software update>> Update to download and install the official build via OTA.
Click here for our step-by-step guide to install official XXUEMK4 Android 4.3 update on Galaxy Note 2 N7100.
Those who have already installed Android 4.3 on the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 and currently looking for a root method may follow our step-by-step guide. The tutorial uses CF-Auto-Root file by recognised XDA developer, Chainfire. As the CF-Auto-Root is firmware independent, it supports Android 4.3 and future firmware as well. The root file has SuperSU binary and APK with stock recovery installed. Besides, it is for those who wish to keep as close to stock as possible. Head over to the development thread to learn more about the root file.
IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be held liable for any mishap. Users area also advised to verify that their devices meet following requirements.
Pre-requisites
1) Install USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to transfer files between the Android device and the computer.
2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on phone to connect it with computer and use Android SDK with it. [Head over to Settings>> Developer Options]
3) As the tutorial might wipe out all data of the phone, create a backup. If the device is having any custom recoveries such as ClockworkMod/TWRP already installed, backup data using the recovery.
4) If the Android phone powers off due to lack of battery while the installation process, it could damage the device. Therefore, the Note 2 should have charge above 80% battery charge.
5) The phone should be factory unlocked and not locked to any particular carrier.
6) The device will lose manufacturer's warranty once it is rooted.
7) The CF-Auto-Root files work only on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. As applying these on any incorrect variant might brick the device, verify the model number of Galaxy Note 2 by navigating to Settings>> About phone>> Model number.
Steps to root Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
Step-1: Download CF-Auto-Root file for Galaxy Note 2 to computer
File name: CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip
Step-2: Extract the downloaded root zip using Winzip/7zip/winrar or any other extracting tool to get CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5 file
Step-3: Download Odin3_v3.07. Extract Odin zip to get Odin3 v3.07.exe file
Step-4: Turn off Galaxy Note 2
Step-5: Place the phone into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until the construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on the phone's screen. Then press the Volume Up button to continue to enter Download Mode
Step-6: Run Odin3 v3.07.exe as Administrator
Step-7: Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable while it is in Download Mode. Wait for some time until Odin detects the device. When the phone is connected successfully, an Added message will appear under Odin message box. Additionally, the ID: COM box in Odin will turn blue with the COM port number indicating successful connection
Note: If the Added message does not appear then try another USB port, try the one located at the back side of the computer. In case Odin still fails to recognise the device then reinstall USB driver.
Step-8: In Odin, click the PDA button and select CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5 which was extracted earlier
Step-9: Verify Auto-Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected in Odin
Step-10: Finally click the Start button in Odin. The installation process should begin now and take few minutes to complete
Step-11: After the installation process is completed, the phone will restart and soon a PASS message with green background in the extreme left box at the very top of Odin. Unplug the USB cable from the phone to disconnect it from computer
As the Galaxy Note 2 boots up, it should be rooted successfully on Android 4.3 firmware. You may install any app that requires root permission. To verify the root status of the device download Root Checker app from Google Play Store.
Note:
Sometimes the device does not boot into Recovery Mode and root the device. If this happens then perform the entire procedure again. If it still does not install root, ensure Auto Reboot checkbox in Odin is not checked. Then after flashing the root package, pull out the battery and boot the phone into Recovery mode by selecting Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together. This will start the install process.
The "CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip" is corrupted. Can you upload again? TQ.

My Root Problem Solve
I can confirm that this way able to root my N7100. I'm using latest official stock rom so Knox disable SuperSu. To be clear, here's step that I do.
1. Using N7100XXUENB2_N7100OLBENB1_THL (country Thailand)
2. At first, flash cf auto root - after reboot, SuperSu fail to load (disable by Knox)
3. Flash philz recovery - auto reboot
4. Power off then enter philz recovery back
5. From there, install Dr.Ketan multitool - it will auto running then...
6. Choose "Root Inject"
7. Choose "Busybox Inject"
8. For all others page, I just choose "Do Not Change" until the end of page. The last one will reboot phone automatically.
9. After reboot, SuperSu will still fail to load.
10. Go to Play Store, search for SuperSu. There's an option to "Update" (before, only Open available). Update it.
11. After that, SuperSu can be open and running already through apps drawer.
I have ROM Toolbox apps, so the first thing I do is to disable Knox from App Manager option. But it's call KLMS Agent ver 1.5 (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Thanks to iprabhsingh hint... :highfive:

Ok, this is my first post so forgive if this is in the wrong section...
I have a friend's Galaxy Note 2 ATT that was stuck on the Galaxy Note 2 Boot screen, and it wouldn't go any further.
Because I work for Samsung at the Samsung Experience Shop, I tried running it through our smart reflash tool
-----> This didn't work because it would fully download it onto the phone, but when it got to the Android with the thing spinning in its chest, it would stop and ALWAYS freeze halfway.
Next step I tried doing was going through Samsung Kies and downloading the stock OS and load that, but the same Android with the spinning thing in its chest would show up and it would freeze.
Due to this guy being my friend I told him I would try anything to get his phone to work again (root, to custom recovery, to custom rom)
My steps so far:
1. I have successfully rooted my device via ODIN 1.85 by using CF-Auto-Root
2. Afterwards, I loaded on a custom recovery via ODIN 1.85 which now is philz_touch_6.07.9
Here is my problem now, I've tried searching everywhere and I can't really find the answer...
Whenever I try to side load a rom through ADB through Android tools (its in the right directory and everything because it transfers over), I keep getting an error message "E: Error in /tmp/update.zip (status 7) Installation Aborted."
Now before I get that error I get stuff like getprop("ro.product.device")==t0lte" ||getprop("ro.build.product").... etc. and it goes on and on.
So far the ROMs that I have tried were Cyanogenmod 10.1 and the Pacman Rom, and yes, both are for the correct device like the model name/number match up. And now how I said I thought I rooted the device, whenever I try to reboot into recovery via Philztouch, it says at the top Root Access is missing. Root device, and I click yes. When it reboots into recovery and I want to turn the phone off again, it still says Root Access is missing.
I am open for anything really. My friend just wants his phone to work again. and I've literally exhausted all of my ideas as I keep running into the same issue.
What am I doing wrong? and is something like this possible to fix? Or is my friend SOL?
Thanks for all the help. It's much appreciated.
Your recovery is outdated. Status 7 error.
I use TWRP from the original development section.

Good advice ^^^^ for your friend.
Ok, thanks for the direct response. I've downloaded the latest TWRP recovery and when I try to push it through ODIN, I still have PhilZ Touch 6..? Sorry, I feel like I'm skipping something simple...
according to a guide, I have to make sure when I'm pushing a custom recovery through ODIN I have to leave Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time UNCHECKED. I made sure they were, and for some reason after it says PASS and thread successful 1 failed 0. When I disconnect the phone and turn it back on into recovery mode, I still has PhilZ Touch...
Use your recovery to flash TWRP. There's a zip version and an odin version.
Ok, I got stock recovery on there just by redoing the CF-Auto Root package through ODIN.
I figured well I can apply the ROM the adb through the stock recovery...
It was going well until I got this error. The last line before the error stated:
"Veryfying update package..."
Error:
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
is that due to the fact that i'm using stock recovery?
In the mean time since that didn't work I'm going to flash TWRP and hopefully that fixes the issue.
I'm kinda just documenting my steps here in case anyone wants to follow and chime in if i'm doing something wrong.
Thanks for the help guys!
************3AM EDIT*****************
Ok so I managed to get TWRP 2.7 on the device as I needed the ability to adb sideload the update.zip to the phone since I can't boot into the phone's OS whatsoever.
This is the error I'm receiving now:
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping Md5 check: no MD5 file found.
then it restarts and I'm stuck at the Samsung GALAXY Note II screen... what's my next step..? Find a different ROM?
**********Another Edit**************
It has just come to me, I shouldn't have to adb sideload the update.zip or the custom rom... even though I can't get into the phones OS and can't copy and paste to the root of the device. Can't I just copy and paste it to a micro SD card and mount that, and then apply the update from there? And as far as those errors I had earlier, I'm still not sure why I received them...
Again, thanks for all the help
Adb won't work if USB debugging wasn't enabled.
In TWRP you can disable md5 checking.
And you don't unzip the zip file.
Thanks for the reply. ADB didn't work because, in fact, since I haven't been able to turn the phone on, I know USB debugging isn't turned on.
And as far as having the MD5 check, it is unchecked.
I received a success message. However, when I try to boot the phone it still gets stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen.
******Edit******
Ok ended up using a different ROM, I think PacMan rom? It seemed to work until it got to extracting system files and then the phone sits for a couple minutes, screen turns black. And when I try to wake the screen, only the back and menu buttons come up...
Another thing, even though I've already rooted my device using CF-Auto-Root, When I reboot my device with TWRP I go to reboot and then recovery. Then it warns me saying no OS bla bla bla, and then it says it notices that my phone isn't rooted? And that SuperSU isn't on the device. It asks to install it by swiping. I swipe it starts to install, phone reboots. When I reboot it again, it still tells me that the phone isn't rooted. And with the phone not being rooted, I'm coming to the conclusion why I'm having trouble trying to flash Roms.. Is this a possibility?
Why are you using ADB? just drop the .zip for the ROM you wish to flash onto a micro SD card, and flash from within the TWRP. Don't try to extract the .zip whatsoever.
Have a bit of a problem here. I gave my parents my SGS3 and i know i had a root on it and was running stock. Im pretty sure that before giving it to them i ran an OTA lost root then re rooted. This most recent OTA has left the phone in a boot loop. Since it has been so long i have no idea what version it was running. Ive done some reading here and thought the solution would be to go back to 4.1.1 but i few posts warned that it could hard brick the phone if it was upgraded to 4.3... Anyway to tell what i have on there. I can get to download mode. Unable to get recovery open. ...Any help would be helpful. Thank you
Boot into download mode. Do you see anything on the screen about warranty bit?
Yes set to 1 now... it was zero earlier before I tried to fix my issues via kies.
Now I don't get boot loop any more but it just asks to be hooked back to kies to fix issue which it doesn't
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA
You tried to fix/update with kies? Are you getting an error message about a firmware problem?
The fact that you have a line in download mode about warranty means you have at least a 4.3 bootloader; therefore, you cannot flash back to 4.1.1.
I suggest you flash Philz Touch for the d2lte and flash CM11 to at least get your phone booted so you can confirm the bootloader and modem on your phone.
Yes I tried kies... It starts to download it but then fails and does not give me an "emergency recovery code" so i can not continue.
when turning on the phone no it loads up a screen that shows the ODIN info at the top like in download mode but in the center of the screen it says " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again." Of course no luck there.
Ok so i at least have 4.3 bootloader... one check off the list...thank you
I will flash Philz touch and then CM11 ... I should be able to use ODIN ?
Going to use Philz touch philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.zip ...
Use Odin 3.07 to flash Philz Touch but make sure you download and flash the tar.md5 version, not the zip version.
I had 3.09 and got philz on .... trying to find a usable CM11 I have Att as my carrier.. was going to use one of the stable releases cm-10.2.1-d2att.zip ... used a micro sd to load on the rom ... but after i attempted to install the i got installation aborted ( Status 7)

Stock Kernel, insecure, init.d, sdcard R/W, selinux permissive ? thanks
How can i tell what boot loader version i have ?
download samsung info app from play store. or if have terminal emulator app on phone type in : su (enter = to grant superuser priv.)
type in : getprop ro.bootloader (enter = this will tell bootloader version).
first option is easiest/less chance (0%) for error/mistype.
"all I can really do, is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
ok ...downloaded it but I dont see where it says what version example 4.3 or 4.4.2
Im attempting to load the ROM you recommended.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788357
Prerequisites include a minimum of a 4.3 bootloader and modem.
If you are not on the official 4.4.2 bootloaders and modem then you will need to flash ktoonsez kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1756776
Directions:
1. Factory data reset
2. Flash ROM
3. If your still on 4.3 bootloader flash ktoonsez kernel immediately after the rom.
4. Let phone boot up, go through start up etc...
5. Open SuperSU, Let it disable Knox. If it gets stuck, press the home button and reboot the phone and try it again. It will work the 2nd time.
6. Nothing else to see here.
Got that ROM installed finally but the WiFi will not turn on
***Never mind reloaded the kernel and 2nd time and worked.
I figured this would help someone out. I was able to successfully unlock my phone after restoring stock android OS. The situation I ran into was trying to unlock my Koodo T989D with CM12.1 (Candy 5) installed. The network unlock code wasn't working . After doing some more reading realized the phone had to run stock and be un-rooted in order for the network unlock code to work. I didn't have a backup available of stock OS.
Here are the steps I did to restore stock. I used guide from koodo forums to help me out and added some additional info..https://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/installing_jellybean_4_1_2_when_samsung_kies_wont
You assume all risks if you try this... I am not responsible if you brick your phone.
1.) Take Nandroid backup in TWRP ( I backed up everything) so it will be easy to restore after.
2.) Download stock OS of your T989 version. This is link I used for Koodo. Alot of threads have dead links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245593
3.) Put your phone into download mode. Open up ODIN utility on your Windows PC. I am using Odin3-V1.87 at the moment...
4.) Ensure you have Samsung drivers for the phone installed. Connect your phone to PC. In ODIN you should see a yellow indicator on ID:COM if phone is detected.
5.) Under "Option" only check "Auto Reboot". Click on PDA and then search for TAR file in stock Android OS you downloaded. The file size should be over 300MB
6.) Select start... This will take several minutes as your phone is doing complete re-install of stock operating system including the recovery. Once the process is complete your phone will auto reboot and exit out of "download mode"
7.) The phone will likely get stuck at the same Samsung Logo because it won't progress. I waited about 5min. Simply power off the phone and reboot it into stock recovery. Then select the option "wipe data/factory reset" . Your phone should then be able to boot into stock OS
8.) I then put in another company SIM card. The prompt asked for network unlock code. I entered it and within 5 seconds the phone was unlocked.
9.) I put my phone into download mode and with ODIN flashed back TWRP.
I then restored my CM12.1 (Candy 5) OS. Tested and everything is :good::good::good:
the stock rom linked in the 1st post did not work properly. I could flash it and have it boot up. But it was missing a lot of apps and when I tried going into settings it would come up with a UI error, so I could not even get a wifi connection established to my router. Try downloading T989DTLLG2_T989DKDOLG2_KDO directly from the sammobile site and follow the instructions in the post above.
Thx for sharing. I only used the stock rom for about 5min. After network unlock code worked I restored my phone to previous Candy 5 installation at the time. I didn't do much testing.
