A few more details would help. Have you recently flash anything? What did you flash and how did you flash it? Full wipe or just cache and dalvik? What were you doing before this happened? The more info you give, the easier it is to find an answer.

Customer service made me do a data reset and now I don't have data or mms

[HELP]

I need help bcoz I want to factory restore my phone I'm running on CM 6.1.1 and pershoots kernel including my memory card any suggestions on how to do it?? Should I copy all the files from my memory card and factory restore?? Is MMC affected on restoring it?? How about hidden files on MMC?? Can I do it w/o affecting my root?? Thnks

No, the sdcard won't get affected by a factory reset.
Just use the ClockWorkMod recovery to backup your ROM to your sdcard.
Are you sure it doesn't affect my CM or bricked my phone?? Cause wat I know is factory reset reverts you to stock(correct me if I'm wrong)??? Thnks

A factory reset zeroes out all of your user information (text messages, accounts, apps, etc). It doesn't remove root or CM.
Thnks guys

Did you check the mobile network settings?
Also do a factory reset. Maybe It'll be auto retrieved. .
Can you explain what you mean by mobile settings?

I mean your access point names.

Question flashing stock rom updates!!!

I'm new to rooting on S3. When updates come out can I just flash the new one on top of my old one without doing a factory reset. I am stock. I don't want to have to reinstall and configure all of my settings. Will it work if I just flashed the odex version? Or can I just use that app OTA Root Keeper?

I have found it to be better to wait for someone on XDA to incorporate the new OTA into a new flashable rom.
Then you do not have to worry about trying to save root or your data, because you were just clear the cache partition and dalvik cache and then flash the update.

So just clear the caches and flash the rom? Will all of my apps, text, homepage icons and settings still be the way it was before the new rom was flashed?

Last question. I reseted my flash counter after I went back to my stock nandroid backup. Everything is reset, but status still says modified. Is there a way to put it back to normal so I get notified if any new updates are available?

R: [Q] flash rom with twrp
Just go to install and select the zip of the rom you want to flash, then slide the thing that appears and it will start installing. Then you can rebooting fastboot from twrp and flash kernel. Or flash it before installing, it's the same

Don't forget that when going from stock ROM, you need to wipe both caches, back up your data, wipe data & system, and then flash a new ROM and GApps. Click on that link
P.S: Go here to get an app that can reinstall individual apps & data from a Nandroid backup (I personally prefer TWRP though I like COTR [Cannibal Open Touch Recovery] too since I'm an official beta tester).
Okay thanks

( NOOB) :crying::crying::crying:
You did a clean install right? Factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik cache?

yes sir
Try flashing a compatible kernel, such as one of ktoonsez in original development.
If that doesn't help you may need to odin back to stock first.
Make a nandroid first if you have any important data.

You should give CWM a shot. It has never failed me before.
Unless you really really prefer TWRP.
