I need help bcoz I want to factory restore my phone I'm running on CM 6.1.1 and pershoots kernel including my memory card any suggestions on how to do it?? Should I copy all the files from my memory card and factory restore?? Is MMC affected on restoring it?? How about hidden files on MMC?? Can I do it w/o affecting my root?? Thnks

No, the sdcard won't get affected by a factory reset.
Just use the ClockWorkMod recovery to backup your ROM to your sdcard.
Are you sure it doesn't affect my CM or bricked my phone?? Cause wat I know is factory reset reverts you to stock(correct me if I'm wrong)??? Thnks

A factory reset zeroes out all of your user information (text messages, accounts, apps, etc). It doesn't remove root or CM.
Thnks guys

Ok so I've tried flashing many different roms cm7,sense 2.2, sense 2.3, and miui and even tried restoring old roms with clocwork and all seem to install fine but whenever I reboot after installing everything starts fc'ing or goes into bootloop. If anyone can please tell me what's wrong or any steps I should take to fix these issues it would be greatly appreciated

have you tried to do a fix permission through the ROM manager after flashing any rom?
Yes i fixed permissions and wiped data and cache before flashing.

When going from the stock ROM to another ROM you need to do a factory reset; likewise, you need to do a reset when moving between incompatible ROMs (Sense/non-Sense, Froyo/GB, etc.).
Additionally, if using a backup app (Titanium/My Backup), you can't restore settings between incompatible ROMs as their system settings are often different.

*Huge* wording flaw in Titanium! Restoring apps will restore the apps data, restoring data will restore /data.

Problem
I have also the same problem....leedroid v.2.4.1. it is working great on my HTC Desire , but when I try to flash a different rom, like gingersense it reboots on the HTC with screen for ever. Could you help me?
Regards
i restarted my phone and its stuck on bootloop, what do i do?
Try reflashing the ROM without wiping. BTW, for better help, honestly, you need to explain a lot more than the 3-4 words you have posted.
Actually i got the same prob. I disconnected from usb without pressing turn off (i use cyanogen 7.0.3 stable). After doing so, adw launcher didnt seem to respond so i decided to reboot. After that, i got boot loop on reboot. Flashing the rom again seems to solve the problem, but only until next reboot. Any suggestions?

Nop,not necessarily. Cos some will do it as default. But some wont. But it will do no harm if u do, other than consuming 2-5 minutes .

Ok , then the option remaining is restore from backup. If u have the backup of current rom, go to advanced backup in cwm and do system resrore only. And check if it works. If it wont, do full wipe and do a complete restore. No more optns.:-(

i dont have a backup, unfortunantly, looks like i will have to wait until future releases of splash ics then to see if the problem is with other wildfires trying to run that ROM or if it is just mine :-(
Should i redownload the rom to see if that works for me?
Tried wiping data/cache/dalvik cache/system/data-factory reset, and then reflash? 1st boot always takes more time btw.

Only files (such as musik, pics and so on) will be erased. Your rom (incl. root) will not be touched by wiping sd card.
Hi guys I rooted a HTC desire for my bro in law and ever since he's had memory problems he can't download anything it says not enough space its really annoying he's in a wheelchair so it would be handy if he could get apps if anybody could be soo kind as to help me

How did you root his phone? (What method)
did you flash another rom? (If so what)
Does he have the same memory problems as before or is it worse?
Have you partitioned his SD card into fat32 + ext? And downloaded link2sd/apps2sd or any app to move apps to the ext partition?
Is it just apps or anything he tries to download? (Music/pictures/files etc)
What size is his SD card and is the phone registering it properly?

Going to need a bit more information than that.
What recovery did you install?: Clockwork mod / EXT4 recovery?
How did you return it to stock after flashing the other rom?
Yea its got clockwork mod and yea its back to stock just still rooted
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
So, when you installed clockwork mod originally, you performed a backup in cwm and restored that backup to return it to stock?
What size is his SD card and what space is available on it?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Yea I did that I thing its 2gb but there's hardly anything on it because he can't install anything I got Rom toolbox pro for him so he could set it up to install directly to sd but it wouldn't work properly
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
I would still check the SD card for space by plugging it into a PC and mounting it as a Hard Drive, even though you think that it is empty hidden files could exist. eg. 1x clockwork mod backup can be 0.5 GB. My last Cronmod ICS backup was 555.5 MB!! and thats a 1/4 of his card used up. so just check it.
Why don't you try flashing a stock like rom?
Try delate all files in data/apps and uninstall Lucky Pather or other app to patching. It's problematic with Google Play. Should help, install Lucky Pather after installing of all apps what u need being with disabled internet connection and ended process Play

android_secure stores encrypted versions of the apps moved to external SD card.....You'll have probably to reinstall some apps. Hopefully the data is intact on the system partition
