Well I've been setting up all the things on freshly flashed Stock Official ICS 4.0.4 when the notification about update firmware showed up. I've accepted it. Arc has shutted off to update itself and didn't wan't to boot after shutdown.
I've pushed power button couple times - no reaction
Then I've taken battery off and put it back, then tried to power it on - no reaction
Next I've decided to flash it again with the same firmware by flashtool, operation went succesful but the phone still don't want to switch on. (while I am pushing power button green LED is flashing)
The same thing happens on Stock GB firmware
any suggestions ?
Thanks for help !!

Most things are the same for defy and defy+
Off course not the downgrade and warranty stuff.
"I downgraded from CM7 to Stock / Installed a new SBF but I'm having bootlops: (!) If this is happening to you, after flashing the Stock SBF, enter in Stock Recovery and do a full wipe (Data/Cache) and reboot."
"How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything."
Hope it helps
Edit:
Didn't see the (!), it says not for Defy+, you can try
maybe you have flashed a wrong sbf, that make it brick, we call it fake brick in China
thankssssssss labsin!!!! great

I have installed CyanogenMod 11 custom rom to my Xperia Arc S. After flashing boot.img through flashtool, device got shutdown. Till now everything was fine. But after this the tutorial said to start the phone and after the phone vibrates, start pressing the volume down button. I did the same. But after vibration, phone is not showing anything. It shows dim light on screen but its not showing either the logo nor its starting. The LED light on side turns to purple but nothing happens after that. I did this with every button but its not starting. Pls halp me out....
Thanks...

Did you flash the kernel for your device?

Tell more about this. How did you do it, what happened, what buttons did you press etc etc.
Yes. I have installed kernel for it via flashtool. Initially after doing this it was not going to recovery mode and also it was not getting connected to flashtool. But now it is getting connected to flashtool in fastboot mode. So tried to flashing with 10.2 version, it showing finished but again the same problem. Its not going to recovery mod.
as in, HOW did you flash the kernel exactly. Dont just say you used flashtool, how did you use it? What combination did you use to get into fastboot? Any errors in flashtool? How did you boot into recovery (I.e. which keys did you press) and does the LX kernel logo even appear on boot?

First check does that kernel has built in recovery...If nothing works,to get your phobe to work flash stock .ftf file with flashtool.
Do you have unlocked bootloader?
And try one more thing, when you turn on the phone start pressing volume down (-).)!

I think i have the same problem as OP.
I decided to try out LegacyXperia CM11 and installed it yesterday. It went well, but it is still kinda buggy so i decided to go back to besttt's Slim Bean. I copied rom files on SD card and went to flash kernel (darkanzuEOL). I flashed it through Flashtool like every other time and it went without errors so i proceeded to boot into recovery so i can flash the rom. This is where everything stopped working normally. After i power on the phone and press voldown to enter cwm it just gets stuck on cwm loading screen. If i dont try to get into recovery it just bootloops. I tried several kernels i have on my HDD and always the same result.
I'm downloading stock img to flash and see if that will help. will let you know what happens.
EDIT:
Stock img worked, now i'm back on slim. Only other thing i changed ( which i think is the cause) is i used original sony usb cabel instead of my Nexus 7's i used originaly
Hello everyone. This is my first post here but I have been lingering around XDA particularly in Xperia S android development forum.
Today, I'm having a problem with my XS that it won't start up after i've done a few things related to installing new ROM in it. I'm not sure if it's bricked or anything but here's the full story and please tell me after reading:
My phone is as follows:
Xperia S
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted
1) I was in my Recovery Mode (not TWRP as I was using a 4.1.2 JB ROM before) with a ROM installed.
2) Wiped Cache
3) Install ROM from SD Card
4) Successfully went through the ROM install wizard and installed it perfectly. I could've just used the ROM as usual but suddenly..
5) Then I went into Settings, I decided to do a Factory Reset (With wiping the internal storage too) <--- I thought doing this would only reset the current recently installed ROM and not wipe the ROM itself)
6) It reboots and bring me to the Recovery Mode page
7) I chose reboot my phone now option
8) It rebooted with the SONY logo on for a while
9) And then the triangle settings logo with a spanner and screwdriver logo show up. The screen stayed for a while like 20 seconds
10) And then it goes black..... and I can't get it start ever again (yet)
I don't know what on earth was I thinking doing a factory reset... that was dumb of me
That's how the story went... what should I do?
I've tried:
Holding the power button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Holding the vol up button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Holding both power+vol up button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Connecting the phone to laptop using USB to see if it is detected by my laptop but no nothing happened though (I did not press any button while connected)
Enter FLASHMODE using the proper way (using flashtool and everything) but fruitless
Charging so that the Red LED comes out when phone runs out battery and resetted. But so far still nothing (6 hours+ charging)
So at this point what has happened to my phone? Is this considered 'bricked'? Is it over for my phone now? Can I do anything to get it back running? Please help.
Thank you so much in advance for reading and helping me out.

Alright dude, so chill. I recommend you to download Sony PC companion software and click on "Repair my device" from there. Then, you just have to follow the instructions and it should work. Tell me if it hasn't, I will help you

I have the same issue with my Xperia SL.I wrongly install cwm recovery 6.0.4.4 by recover mode through option update.zip. Its done all the damage to my XSL. No Fastboot Mode, No Flash mode, No vibration nothing...Plz Help me guys...Plz
Yeah.
Yep. It should work.
So I got my brand new Z1C today and as you would do I rooted, backed up my TA and unlocked the bootloader. I also flashed on fastboot DooMLoRD kernel to get cwm.
I saw a new stock update for for 4.4.4 so I decided to try update via Sony PC Companion. Update downloaded but I was prompted that I could continue due to 'modified software'. So I decided to restore my TA to bring it back to stock and phone doesn' turn on
When I press the power button it vibrates but there is no display. If I wait a few seconds and press the power button it does the same. I can also still boot into fastboot mode. I attempted to flash a .ftf but I can't seem to get it into flashmode :crying:
Would anyone be able to help please?
Ha, that happened to me as well when I tried to restore the dreaded TA. But if fastboot is working, flashmode should too. Turn off the phone, press volume down and plugin usb. Iirc there's no LED confirmation in flashmode, but you'll see it in flashtool.

Flashmode managed to work! Phone seems operational now.
Deary me that was a bit worrying. Is it quite normal for you to have to flash a .ftf after restoring the TA or something? Nearly crapped myself...

There is an LED confirmation for flashmode, a shortly powered green LED. Fastboot is indicated by a solid blue LED.

You've done correctly, but you've missed one step, before flashing your locked TA and rebooting you have to flash a stock kernel, otherwise the "modified software" test in the locked bootloader will be triggered (by the unsigned kernel).
You have not bricked your phone, this thread is incorrectly titled as I'm sure you knew when you posted it.
Hi. I have an R800i which I rooted some time ago. Up until recently it has been running ICS with a Lupus kernel. I then flashed 2.3.3 UK ftf from here and it seemed to work. It prompted me for an OTA update and I started it. After downloading the update and rebooted, the phone displayed a black screen and a progress bar (nothing odd, seemed as though it was updating) and after a couple of minutes it turned off. Since then I haven't been able to turn the phone back on. I would press the power button and all it would do is briefly flash the green LED and vibrate, but that's about it. If I would hold the power button it would do that every couple of seconds. I cannot access the recovery menu either. It may be worth noting that by connecting the phone to my PC it would start in flashmode (blank screen), so I tried reflashing the same (and some other) ROMs using Flashtool but with the same result. Up until now, flashing ftfs through Flashtool seems to be the only thing I can still do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
