Most things are the same for defy and defy+
Off course not the downgrade and warranty stuff.
"I downgraded from CM7 to Stock / Installed a new SBF but I'm having bootlops: (!) If this is happening to you, after flashing the Stock SBF, enter in Stock Recovery and do a full wipe (Data/Cache) and reboot."
"How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything."
Hope it helps
Edit:
Didn't see the (!), it says not for Defy+, you can try
maybe you have flashed a wrong sbf, that make it brick, we call it fake brick in China
thankssssssss labsin!!!! great
Almost Bricked
Hi,
I own a Defy+ which is 3 weeks old. I followed rooting(Doomlord) to Custom Mod Cm7. Got greedy and tried to Install ICS(quarx) and my phone bricked. Now in bootloader part were I use RSDlite v5.6.4, Abd v5.0 and Stock Rom vDEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP
Now Rsdlite flashes and all things happen and I get stuck at the status were it says 'Please Manually Power Up this Phone' and keep seeing that Red M logo loading all day long.
I have tried to flash Uk retail version too but the result is same.
I have a backup of all apps and stock rom in SD card. Dono how to use it.
Please help me I waited for a long time to own a Defy+
Thanks
McGgiver hack look it up works only way or full charge battery on other defy

Edit:
Solved bootloop by flashing stock 2.51.1 full sbf.
Then to install CyanogenMod7:
1-rooted with SuperOneClick
2-installed sd-recovery
3-restored 3.4.177-005 nandroid
4-flashed 3.4.177-005 fixed sbf
5-applied CyanogenMod zip in recovery
Hi!! This is my (sad) first post! :'(
My Defy was never flashed and had this stock rom:
JRDNEM_U3_2.51.1_BLUR_P3_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA030.0R_USAJORDANRTFR_P043_A010_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf
I used sbf_flash with 3.4.2_155-Fixed.CEE_DEBLUR.sbf and now my Defy is in reboot loop...
I need to remove the battery to make it stop, because if I put the battery back on, the phone immediately starts to boot!
When I press "power+vol up" to enter recovery, I see a logo like software installing from a box into the phone and then the logo switches to a triangle with an exclamation mark.
When I press "power+vol down" to enter download/usb flash mode, I can see the android robot with the same triangle, like the usual background of recovery mode, but when I touch the screen nothing happens...
Please help me!!! :'(

You should have flash a nandroid first of 3.4.2_155 before the fixed SBF.
But anyways, you could get out of boot loop by flashing the "full" SBF of 3.42_155 or other leaked froyo rom. Refer to walter's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 and download the rom.
After flashing go into stock recovery mode(power+vol down) when the exclamation mark appears press vol up + vol down. Wipe then reboot.
Thanks!!!
But if I flash with a full 3.42_155, I'll lose the ability to downgrade to 2.1 right?
Can I flash JRDNEM_U3_2.51.1_BLUR_P3_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB 1B80AA030.0R_USAJORDANRTFR_P043_A010_HWp3_Service1 FF.sbf instead to put the phone back to stock?
I was thinking about flashing back to 2.51 to recover the phone(?), then since this rom gives so many problems with rooting and recovery I would perhaps flash "defy_2.21_boot_only.sbf" (How to root UK v2.51 ROM) and hope that I would get a working recovery that doesn't complains when trying to mount sdcard, so that I can do nandroid backups/restores and try to re-flash 3.42_155.
Would it work?
hi all
i followed the guide to go into recovery mode...i try 3 o 4 times, but nothing.
When i see the greendroid i press the bottom right but nothing.
What is wrong?!?!?
maybe u can get some answers from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046427
Put custom recovery , push recovery boot, the phone power off , then power on and appears the motorola logo....and then nothing all black.
To restart i should pull out the battery .
My rom is 3.4.2-145 Finnland Deblur.
You need to boot up the phone holding down the volume down button.
Try installing 2nd init from market... much better way to get into recovery.

Sorry for a possibly not "good" question, my Defy just arrived - new to robots, but I had win95 up and running for months right after release so probably not hopeless idiot, if ya know what I mean
So, the custom recovery is only accessible via "reboot into recovery" in themselves? What I mean is, installed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875233 and it seems to work, but what bugs me is that the "hardware" power-up-while-volume-down still brings the old menu. Got me thinking, if I love my Defy into not loading Android at all, those nandroid backups gonna be useless cuz I wouldnt be able to access the expanded recovery boot menu, right?
Is there any method of getting custom recovery down at "powerup+volumedown" loading menu so I can safely love up my ROMs )))?
(Or even in that condition RSDLite + USB are normally enough? Worried that PC wouldn't recognize the brick if android is hopelessly broken)
Yep, I'm starting all my Android experiments with learning all about recovery PPP
P.S. UK 2.51 if anyone cares
Before reboot,pay your attention to Setting->Applications->Development->USB debugging.If ticked,cancel it,then reboot.
I have to firstly say I am a complete noob, infact, the Defy is my first smartphone.
So far i have......
Rooted Phone
Performed a nandroid backup
Installed 2nd init
Installed CM7
Everything was going so well until i noticed there were no google apps. I installed gapps zip file after re installing recover (to install the zip file from boot menu). Ever since then, my phone wont make it past the red Motorola logo. I cant even get back into the boot menu?
Please Help
If you have 2nd Init installed , press Vol Down whenthe blue LED blinks during startup.
If that fails, hold the Vol Down button and then power on your cell, you'll enter default recovery. Clear cache/data and start again.
Also, if you are using CM7 RC1 or above, there should be no need to install gapps.zip separately.
Thanks for the reply mate.
Phone wont get to blue light before freeze. RE the vol down power on menu, all i get is an android dude with a triangle with an Exclamation point in it?
sorry i should have written this in my first reply, when you see the exclamation point, press Vol Up + vol down TOGETHER, and you'll see the recovery menu.

Wipe cache partition.
Tried them all and no luck
try this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1147967
in the 4th post, you can try that and flash it again
Never ending problems mate. Cant get RSD lite to work.
Keep getting.....
"failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file"
Running as administrator and have tried 2 different SFB files.
Im giving up all hope, been reading forums all day and my eyes are starting to hurt.

I installed CM7 RC1 and market etc werent there.
Don't give up hope yet, people have recovered their Defy from even worse conditions. All this could be an outcome of a chain of mistakes so lets stat from scratch.
1. Is your battery charged? Does it show charging LED when plugged in wall charger while turned OFF ?
2. Which OS do you have? also 64bit or 32?
3. Which Motorola Driver and RSDLite version do you have?
4. Where did you download the SBF files from? paste the link to that thread.
5. How are you flashing the SBF? (what steps do you take)
Also, try this:
Pull out the battery, Hold Defy in your one hand and press Vol Up+Down+Power button all together. Now, quickly insert the battery with the other hand keeping those buttons pressed and you will be taken to stock recovery.
Only Wipe data and wipe cache, do not install update.zip or anything else.
Once done restart the cell and let us know what happens.

thats a common problem related to the version of RSDlite..
use 5.3.1 and try to flash again..
All the best
Got it sorted at last. Just needed RSD Lite 4.9.
Still had issues after, but managed to sort em out by installing CM7 then Gapps, rebooting then factory resetting data and cache.
A long struggle, but got there in the end.
Many thanks to everyone who helped me out, I am so grateful.

Swyped from my DroidDefy using xda Premium app
am not able to get into recovery also.
that is the problem
you need to uninstall bootmenu or set the default boot to normal
to do these press volume down when your phone boots and blue notification light blinks
Have you allso tried:
To get RSDLIte to recognize your phone you have to enter boot loader mode. this means press VOL-UP + POWER If nothing helps, try pushing VOL UP before!' you put the battery in.

ok.. so how can i fix it ?
Well, first try flashing froyo, if that not work, try this sbf,
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263212
Is Defy + blur sbf, 2.3.4 cg 5,
TRY FROYO FIRST, YOU CANT DOWNGRADE DIRECTLY TO FROYO IF YOU FLASH THE 2.3.4 STOCK, If that dont work, youre stuck on 2.3.6, remember to wipe data in stock recovery before flashing, and if you got bootloop wipe data too,
To enter stock recovery, press when the phone off, POWER + VOL -, Until you see an android with an exclamation, then press VOL - + VOL +, at the same time,
Well any doubt just ask!
Good hacking!

That SBF is 2.3.4. The one you flashed previously 4.5.3-109-DPP-14 was 2.3.6 with CG 6. No way will the 2.3.4 SBF work after flashing the 2.3.6 SBF, or any Froyo SBF. Read this thread (oh look, it's the FIRST THREAD ON THIS FORUM!!!) - read the whole of the first post on that thread - to understand why.
You won't be able to go back to Froyo having flashed 4.5.3-109-DPP-14. What you can do is try one of the other CG 6 SBFs listed in this thread. Do NOT flash 4.5.1-134-DFP-188 or 4.5.1-134-DFP-137. Maybe try 4.5.1-134-DFP-132, that's a European SBF with the same CG as 4.5.3-109-DPP-14.
By the way, does your Defy have a red lens or a green lens camera? The green lens camera is likely not to work with 2.3.x SBFs even if the phone itself boots.
i have the green lens

with green lense you can use DFP-10
but if you already tried any other official full sbf 2.3.x rom - it is possible situation that you will be not able to downgrade to lower version

please help
I am on the same boat.. Will post something if I find a solution..

Sorry to be the messanger with the bad news, but... forget about downgrade! Once you flash a full sbf with higher version, you can't go back.
