ok.. so how can i fix it ?

Well, first try flashing froyo, if that not work, try this sbf,
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263212
Is Defy + blur sbf, 2.3.4 cg 5,
TRY FROYO FIRST, YOU CANT DOWNGRADE DIRECTLY TO FROYO IF YOU FLASH THE 2.3.4 STOCK, If that dont work, youre stuck on 2.3.6, remember to wipe data in stock recovery before flashing, and if you got bootloop wipe data too,
To enter stock recovery, press when the phone off, POWER + VOL -, Until you see an android with an exclamation, then press VOL - + VOL +, at the same time,
Well any doubt just ask!
Good hacking!

That SBF is 2.3.4. The one you flashed previously 4.5.3-109-DPP-14 was 2.3.6 with CG 6. No way will the 2.3.4 SBF work after flashing the 2.3.6 SBF, or any Froyo SBF. Read this thread (oh look, it's the FIRST THREAD ON THIS FORUM!!!) - read the whole of the first post on that thread - to understand why.
You won't be able to go back to Froyo having flashed 4.5.3-109-DPP-14. What you can do is try one of the other CG 6 SBFs listed in this thread. Do NOT flash 4.5.1-134-DFP-188 or 4.5.1-134-DFP-137. Maybe try 4.5.1-134-DFP-132, that's a European SBF with the same CG as 4.5.3-109-DPP-14.
By the way, does your Defy have a red lens or a green lens camera? The green lens camera is likely not to work with 2.3.x SBFs even if the phone itself boots.

i have the green lens

with green lense you can use DFP-10
but if you already tried any other official full sbf 2.3.x rom - it is possible situation that you will be not able to downgrade to lower version

i tried all 2.3.6 versions, none of them worked

please help

I am on the same boat.. Will post something if I find a solution..

The diaplay is still off??, very strange, explain what happen now, exactly the same?? Can you! Enter on recovery?
Motorola Defy CM7.2 Nightly OC 1GHz SuperCharger v6

Sorry to be the messanger with the bad news, but... forget about downgrade! Once you flash a full sbf with higher version, you can't go back.

Bootloaders

Okay so I have got a new Motorola Defy and the first thing I did was follow all the instructions to load 3.4.2-155-2 Deblur SBF which I have found absolutely great.
Now prior to loading this SBF I could get the recovery screen up with the Power + Volume down, however since upgrading it has become just a screen with the little android bot and an exclamation mark.
I wasnt bothered about this particulary until now I want to try the clockwork recovery utility and a few other things on my phone. Do I have to load any of the bootloader SBF's that are contained in the SBF thread if I have flashed with 3.4.2-155-2 Deblur ?
My phone is rooted no problem and I have tried to install the clockworkmod apk com.kb7sqi.defy.bootstrap.old.apk file. This appears to work all correctly, it gets superuser permissions and it reports success.
However if I go to the recovery app and click recovery boot it just goes to a black screen?
To fix the black screen simply disable USB debugging.
Still, would like to know what are the bootloaders for?

One last question if I may, if I browse the SD card from my laptop it does nto show all the files on it?
Pull defy's status menu, tap usb connection, tap mass storage.

The recovery mentioned by the OP is actually made of a newer version, AFAIK. It's also made specifically for Defy.
I've tried both, both work.

[Q] Bricked Moto Defy

I have bricked my Motorola Defy.
I have tried flashing a new ROM using RSD Lite (following this guide). It says 'complete' but my phone will not turn on. Sometimes it will just show the Moto boot logo but never fully boot up. I can only open the boot menu.
The ROMs I have tried flashing can be found here (All UK 2.1 at the top of the page).
Background - I got into this mess by attempting to flash the Gingerbread UI ROM (here).
Does anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciated any suggestions.
Thank you.
Probably you have flashed a firmware which cannot be downgraded to eclair. Try to get again in the bootloader and flash a froyo build (the official french one, for instance).
Hope this helps
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
but supposedly it is still an éclair ROM so it shouldn't be the reason... best thing would be to flash an original 2.1 rom, I'm sure you can find one on the development section. Make sure to have a fully charged battery though - charge it on someone else's phone, for example.
It's most likely a problem with cache. Power your phone with Volume Down holded, when in recovery press Volume Up + Down, clear data/factory reset, clear cache.

Just an update...
All ROMS I have tried have installed OK through RSD Lite. The result is always 'Finished' or 'PASS'. But then when I try to turn my phone on, it never boots up.
I really appreciate the replies so far. If anyone has any further ideas, I would love to hear them.
Thank you.
UPDATE
I have just flashed the latest froyo leaked ROM as suggested around the net. Slight progress, the phone now boots to the moto boot logo but no further?
Does anyone have any ideas from here?
Thank you.
you do know that after flashing an sbf it takes a very LONG time to boot the first time! I just hope you are not giving up after a a couple minutes of M logo and pulling the battery or something it literally takes like 5 minutes.
You said you are still able to enter bootmenu? That is not possible after flashing an sbf, as it wipes the bootmenu away! Are you talking about bootloader?
Pull the battery and immediately put it back in while holding vol down. If the phone does not turn on just by inserting the battery then continue to hold vol down and press the power button for about 3 seconds, do not let go of vol down. Continue holding vol down until stock recovery appears.
Once you're in stock recovery press vol up AND vol down at the SAME TIME. Now use the volume toggle to select wipe date/factory reset, use the power button to make your selection, then wipe cache partition. Reboot
Walk away for like 5-10 minutes and check back on it.. Theres no reason it shouldn't work

Hey,
I have just got back from dropping of the phone with T-Mobile - Damm!!!!!!!
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I must have talking about the bootloader. Not the menu. I will head back to the shop in the morning and collect it back off them. Hopefully as it is a Saturday they have not sent it off?
Sooooo frustrating!!!!!!!!
I will update you when I have got it back and tested the above.
Thanks again,
Chris.
LOL I know what you mean... I had instant heart failure the first time I was stuck in a bootloop!!! Thought I wasted $400
I just panicked and gave up.. damm! Loads of people have said that its almost impossible to brick a defy. Fingers crosses thats true!! Lol
First, sorry for my english.
I have a similar problem. I flashed the official french froyo.
First it runs good. But today, two days later, the defy reseted automaticaly.
Several times.
Then I did a wipe. At the end the defy reseted automaticaly and stopped at the motorola logo. I flashed again. At the end of the flash, when RSD boots the defy, it stopped at the logo again. After...it must have been 15 minutes I pulled the battery and tried to get into the bootloader for a wipe.
But I can't enter the bootloader (vol up + power). The motorola logo appears and nothing happens. The last time I waited over 30 minutes.
OK, I have my phone back from T-Mobile...here it goes!!! (fingers crossed).
EDIT
Battery is out - will re-charge with the USB cable trick..

To enter stock recovery start your phone by pressing Vol Down + Power. Then when the android icon with the exclamation mark appears press the right bottom of your screen (if you are on Eclair) or press both Vol Up + Vol Down buttons if you are on Froyo. Then for navigation use volume buttons and for selection/enter use the power button.

I'm not sure if I got it right but you are saying that you have rooted it with gingerbreak. If I'm not wrong you are/were for the moment on Eclair of Froyo so you do not need to use a tool that is useful to achieve root on Gingebread. You must install Gingerbread first then root it.
I must admit that I haven't tried this ROM (there were so many bugs reported on the ROM thread so I decided I'll stay on latest CM7 beta) but you can try it on your phone using one of the next methods:
A) By applying a nandroid backup and then flashing a fixed SBF (by doing so you'll keep you downgradability)
- install ClockworkMOD recovery
- wipe cache, data, dalvik cache
- install the nandroid
- reboot phone in bootloader
- apply fixed SBF
B) By applying a full SBF
- reboot in stock recovery
- wipe data, cache....
- reboot in bootloader
- flash full SBF
Then you can root it with Gingerbreak.
Sincerely I strongly recommend you to install a more stable ROM like the Nordic one or the official French (both based on Android 2.2.2).
Hope it helps. It you'd like I can give you more details via private messages in Romanian.

Help Please, Phone stuck on Red M Logo.

I have to firstly say I am a complete noob, infact, the Defy is my first smartphone.
So far i have......
Rooted Phone
Performed a nandroid backup
Installed 2nd init
Installed CM7
Everything was going so well until i noticed there were no google apps. I installed gapps zip file after re installing recover (to install the zip file from boot menu). Ever since then, my phone wont make it past the red Motorola logo. I cant even get back into the boot menu?
Please Help
If you have 2nd Init installed , press Vol Down whenthe blue LED blinks during startup.
If that fails, hold the Vol Down button and then power on your cell, you'll enter default recovery. Clear cache/data and start again.
Also, if you are using CM7 RC1 or above, there should be no need to install gapps.zip separately.
Thanks for the reply mate.
Phone wont get to blue light before freeze. RE the vol down power on menu, all i get is an android dude with a triangle with an Exclamation point in it?
sorry i should have written this in my first reply, when you see the exclamation point, press Vol Up + vol down TOGETHER, and you'll see the recovery menu.

Don't give up hope yet, people have recovered their Defy from even worse conditions. All this could be an outcome of a chain of mistakes so lets stat from scratch.
1. Is your battery charged? Does it show charging LED when plugged in wall charger while turned OFF ?
2. Which OS do you have? also 64bit or 32?
3. Which Motorola Driver and RSDLite version do you have?
4. Where did you download the SBF files from? paste the link to that thread.
5. How are you flashing the SBF? (what steps do you take)
Also, try this:
Pull out the battery, Hold Defy in your one hand and press Vol Up+Down+Power button all together. Now, quickly insert the battery with the other hand keeping those buttons pressed and you will be taken to stock recovery.
Only Wipe data and wipe cache, do not install update.zip or anything else.
Once done restart the cell and let us know what happens.

Got it sorted at last. Just needed RSD Lite 4.9.

Off course not the downgrade and warranty stuff.

"How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything."
Hope it helps
Edit:
