[Q] My Xperia S won't start up. (Expected to Have Bricked) Full story inside - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Hello everyone. This is my first post here but I have been lingering around XDA particularly in Xperia S android development forum.
Today, I'm having a problem with my XS that it won't start up after i've done a few things related to installing new ROM in it. I'm not sure if it's bricked or anything but here's the full story and please tell me after reading:
My phone is as follows:
Xperia S
Unlocked Bootloader
Rooted
1) I was in my Recovery Mode (not TWRP as I was using a 4.1.2 JB ROM before) with a ROM installed.
2) Wiped Cache
3) Install ROM from SD Card
4) Successfully went through the ROM install wizard and installed it perfectly. I could've just used the ROM as usual but suddenly..
5) Then I went into Settings, I decided to do a Factory Reset (With wiping the internal storage too) <--- I thought doing this would only reset the current recently installed ROM and not wipe the ROM itself)
6) It reboots and bring me to the Recovery Mode page
7) I chose reboot my phone now option
8) It rebooted with the SONY logo on for a while
9) And then the triangle settings logo with a spanner and screwdriver logo show up. The screen stayed for a while like 20 seconds
10) And then it goes black..... and I can't get it start ever again (yet)
I don't know what on earth was I thinking doing a factory reset... that was dumb of me
That's how the story went... what should I do?
I've tried:
Holding the power button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Holding the vol up button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Holding both power+vol up button for 20 seconds(or longer), no vibrations, led or anything
Connecting the phone to laptop using USB to see if it is detected by my laptop but no nothing happened though (I did not press any button while connected)
Enter FLASHMODE using the proper way (using flashtool and everything) but fruitless
Charging so that the Red LED comes out when phone runs out battery and resetted. But so far still nothing (6 hours+ charging)
So at this point what has happened to my phone? Is this considered 'bricked'? Is it over for my phone now? Can I do anything to get it back running? Please help.
Thank you so much in advance for reading and helping me out.

Have you tried to enter in FASTBOOT mode and flash a new recovery?

Alright dude, so chill. I recommend you to download Sony PC companion software and click on "Repair my device" from there. Then, you just have to follow the instructions and it should work. Tell me if it hasn't, I will help you

[Q] ''Bricked'' Moto Defy - help needed!

Hi, i messed up my phone in a really stupid way
So, until a few days ago i had a froyo installed on my phone ( + 3.4.2_155-002_DEBLUR_SIGN ROM) but then i decided to give a try to CyaongenMod Beta 5.1.
I followed this very well detailed installation guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054447 and got my CM7 working, but after a day i became unhappy with the CM7, the camera didnt work properly and there were many other issues.
What I did next, I turned my phone off, went into stock android recovery and did a full factory reset and cache wipe. I rebooted the phone and hoped that i would be able to load a normal android system, but the only thing that is happening is a motorola logo being displayed.
I tried connecting my phone via USB to flash an old ROM (3.4.2_155) but the phone is not appearing in the RSD Lite - i think it has to be completely turned on in order to appear there, isnt is true?
What shall i do to be able to turn my phone on properly, and is it possible to flash another working rom via RSD lite without having my phone turned on?
i tried to factory reset + wipe with stock and custom recovery, still no luck, phone freezes at motorola logo during start up.
i dunno why it still doesnt show up in RSD lite, any tips on how and when should i try connecting it via USB cable?
EDIT I forgot that for a phone to appear in RSD Lite without being switched on it has to be in a bootloader mode!! (which is entered by holding a volume up button during strart up, just like volume down button for recovery! i know, im stupid, i don't know how i could forget about this)
So, i entered the bootloader menu and managed to have my phone seen by RSD Lite, next I flashed a new SBF and I was getting a bootloop, and fixed it by a data wipe in stock recovery!)
Try to take out battery after few minutes put it back. Pull in usb cable. Then try to push the right buttons.
SOLUTION
First get your phone in bootloader mode by pressing VOLUME UP first and then POWER button till you get that logo.......Then flash it with rsd lite..,,,

how can i connect my phone?
Refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
Use the Rubber Band Trick.
like how many hours?
All you need to do is hold power and volume+ until the phone vibrates 3 times. Then open PC Companion and do the repair phone procedure, and follow instructions. Your phone isn't bricked, you just damaged the OS and now it can't start anymore.
If you have CWM Recovery you should simply reinstall your rom from a flashable zip.
i tried the rubber band trick for about 16 hours nothing happened just RED led light. (
@MarkMRL- my pc companion does not recognize my phone. i pressed the POWER and VOLUME UP nothing happens. What will i do?
I have SUPERSU. i didn't intall any rom on my phone. i just followed easy rooting toolkit by DOOMLORD.
METHOD 2. (( Please help me. Thankyou:angel:
Note that chainfire 3d will cause bootloop on ics and jb os, its for gingerbread

try reflashing the stock rom with SUS instead
if all else fails.... take the phone apart.. disconnect the battery from the motherboard.... start flash tool and have your file ready to flash... with usb plugged into phone... .... connect the other end to the computer... hold the volume down button.... plug battery cable back into mother board. NOTE: you should already have flashtool running and the screen telling you to plug in your usb... If it doesnt work the first time... try again.
I know this is something you don't really want to do... but the other tricks and tips did not work for me... this is what i did and i got it running again.
Why are you guys suggesting such invasive methods of repair that will make him risk breaking his phone completely?
He isn't doing the standard PCC repair procedure right, maybe because he's nervous and has been confused by your insane suggestions.
You need to do this:
1. As the phone is bootlooping, hold VOLUME UP and POWER for a few seconds until the phone vibrates 3 TIMES
2. Phone is now turned off DO NOT CONNECT IT TO PC, open Sony PCC, click on "Support Zone", click on "update phone", a window will inform you that there is no phone connected, in that window, click REPAIR PHONE
3. Follow instructions
4. This is important, when it tells you to connect the phone, do exactly what it says: HOLD VOLUME DOWN AND WHILE HOLDING THAT BUTTON CONNECT THE CABLE. If you did it right, the phone will light the notification led in the color GREEN
5. PCC will install drivers if needed, and then reflash your phone with stock FW (you will lose all your data except SDcard/internal memory contents, such as photos and videos)
If you want to try and recover the phone without losing data, you need to download an FTF of your current rom, and flash the phone with Flashtool instead. Before flashing, after selecting the ftf, you need to deselect "Wipe Data". When it asks you to connect the phone, do what I said in point 4, not what flashtool tells you to do.
Remember to instal CWM and make a backup before installing risky programs.

[Q] I'm stuck in a bootloop

Need some help please !
First of all I'm stuck in bootloop with my nexus 7 2013 (not unlocked). So I pluged my N7 in my computer (windows 7) to flash the Rom. I also have a problem with the driver when I connect my N7 to the computer and I get the message (MTP device failed ). So I've tried to install manually new drivers from Google but it says that my drivers are up to date ??? Now It seems that it's impossible to flash my N7 if my computer doesn't recognize my device.
What is the best thing to do now
thanks in advance

Well, it looks like you have a couple of things going on. I can't remember how I got windoze to recognize the n7, but it had something to do with deleting the driver then plugging the n7 back in and letting it install the driver again. I remember I had to play around with the thing for a little while. Trying to update the driver wouldn't work for me either. As, far as the bootloop, you could try this one click tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381582 Finally, you could try wugfresh's toolkit if you want to take the lazy route. It actually works pretty well. It might even help with that driver issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389107 you don't use it to install a rom, but you do need to install a custom recovery and the toolkit could help with things like that. I personally use the toolkit to return a tablet or phone back to factory condition, lock the bootloader, etc...
You could also try to do a factory reset from the stock recovery. That fixed a boot loop for me after unlocking my bootloader.
Problem solved
I finally contacted Google Canada Monday morning and spoke with with a tech. Wow...very impressed by the service and my problems are now solved. First we went to Recovery mode ( Power and volume down) in that mode you then press again power and volume up and release at the same time. Then, from that menu you can now swipe all data and it solves the Bootloop problem. Finally I reinstalled all my app and back to normal. I pluged my N7 to my computer and now no more driver problem....
Thanks

Hello!
I'm stuck in a loop boot too. I flashed without wiping... I try to boot in recovery mode but it's impossible. The combination vol up, down and power doesn't work. It tries to boot as usual so starts in a loop again.

Let me get this straight....are you trying to hold volume up & down at the same time? If so, you cannot please both volumes at the same time. Also, to boot into the bootloader (same as fastboot, not recovery) is power + volume down. The easiest way to do this is to hold volume down, then press and hold the power button. If the tab was on, and the screen goes black, let go of the power button, but keep holding the volume down button. It should boot into the bootloader soon enough.
1. Push volume up and power button for 5 seconds then release the power button.
2. Do a complete wipe of the system and reinstall the system.zip again and reboot.
If it doesnt load the recovery do this.:
1. Hold volume down and power button for 5 sec. Release the power button and volume once you enter the download screen.
2. Use odin in your Pc to install the rom you want or stock rom.
(3. If you installed stock rom go back to the steps I wrote at the top and flash a new rom)
Remember that you need to be rooted.
OK so I was trying with the wrong combination.
With both vol up/down + power worked.
I restored and it's up and running again.
Thanks!

Enter download mode (hold [VOLUME-DOWN][HOME][POWER] until buzz, then release [POWER]). At the first download mode screen where it says you can press volume-down to boot normally, press volume-down to boot normally.

If the advice above didn´t work (nothing happened when pressing the usual VOL down - home - power etc), this is how I managed:
I tried booting around 25 times with the power button released at different times. Did not work.
Tried to insert battery when pressing the 3 buttons. Did not work.
I let the battery run completely empty. Started charging the phone and pressing the 3 buttons. Did not work.
I charged the phone full (with booting the whole time....needed to put it somewhere quiet). After estimating it was full, I pulled out the battery, preparing to send it to mobiletechvideos.com (they saved me before). After a few hours I wanted to see the error message so I could write them. When I inserted the battery, I got the regular download mode! Nowthen, would I dare to boot it since I am not really sure what to flash to my phone?
I rebooted, and now the phone is back to normal. OTOH, I will not try to flash CWM/TWRP again, so goodbye custom roms (Omega )
you are a life saver!

The phone is fine now, it was just stuck on the loop and spamming home was the only way out, its fine now I've had no problems and it boots up fine
This happens...
This happens to almost everyone at some point of time. There is no need to worry as you just need to flash recovery like TWRP or CWM. To shed some light on this issue... boot loops mainly happen when you uses the incorrect version of software with your ROM or stock firmware. By using youtube you can look at the videos of your phone model and find the recovery version number needed.
For anyone who has a Note 3 T-Mobile phone who is still stuck! I am willing to make a video to show how to fix this and provide all the firmware/version numbers + links in one bundled location to make it easier.
ALL PHONES ARE VERY specific... ONLY USE THE CORRECT FIRMWARE FOR YOUR MODEL PHONE
Again, if you have a Samsung Note 3 T-Mobile, model number SM-N900T and are still lost. Let me know so I can shot a video and bundle files needed.

Don't be scared by this... just choose the correct versions before blindly trying to install a ROM. Also, only use links from main sources if you dont fell like auditing the code!
Hi guys, sorry for might be late about helping you now years later... But recently I've found something interesting about fixing this issue.
*****
Fix: (100% working in Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H)
UPDATED: More detailed info!
# Before flashed Recovery or Root:
1. Root device using Odin or any other rooting known workaround.
2. Backup Recovery (optional), and Kernel using Rashr (available on PlayStore).
3. Flash Custom Recovery (TWRP), using Odin PC software or TWRP android app.
4. Flash backed-up Kernel.img file to Boot partition using TWRP install section.
5. Reboot system (It may take a few time to boot)
# After flashed Recovery or Root: (accidentally or without knowing)
1. Search online and download your exact Phone Stock Kernel.
2. Follow *before flashed* above ↑ from 3rd.
Bonus info:
Even after flashing TWRP, you might be able to Boot device yet, by going to TWRP → Advanced → Reboot system. (It bypass bootlooping to Recovery, while: “Set Warranty Bit : Recovery”).
That's all! Try at your own, then share it!

Htc desire 526g stuck in boot loop

Hi guys, months ago i rooted my HTC 526G with Kingoroot. I later tried to update the software over wifi. It updated but in restarting its now stuck in boot screen and sometimes goes into recovery by itself. Is there a way I can revive the firmware? Any help appreciated
HTC Desire 526G
I have problem like this ....cant fix it
Warning/Disclaimer: This will erase everything you have on the phones internal memory. (if you have play store set up right, you can just log back in afterwards and it will pull all your data/apps back, however if you don't, make sure to backup any contacts, data, ect that may be on the phones storage before attempting this) (then again, if you were already trying to root, you should have had everything backed up already anyway )
Charge the device to at least 50% (or an hour or two at least if the battery was completely dead)
Hold the Volume Down Button, Press power button, keep holding the volume down button
Phone should boot into HBOOT or Download mode,
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Recovery Mode
press power button to select Recovery Mode
Phone will reboot with a red triangle icon, press all three buttons at the SAME time (vol up, vol down, power)
use the volume up and down buttons to highlight Clear Data (Factory Reset) press power button to select, let it finish clearing /data/ and /cache/
Once this has completed, Pull the battery out, let it sit for like 30 seconds without the battery
Put battery back in
hold power button for a while until it vibrates, release power button
let it sit at the htc boot screen for 10 minutes phone should eventually move to the verizon boot screen (if it goes over 10 minutes on the htc screen, try procedure again)
Post here if you have any trouble.
Still have problems

i've done the procedure but unluckly i'm still having this problem, did someone fix the loop with this method? should i just wait for custom roms? :crying:
I had it happen to me after trying to root with just about every tool out there, mine would boot up but wouldn't go past the htc boot screen white background green htc. After I cleared the data a few times (at least 3) it came back up, try the procedure more than once. Also be patient and wait the full 10 minutes for it to come back up, sometimes it can be slow to load for the first time after this kind of wipe.

Try to root with "PhilZ Recovery by Ajit", search on google, i don't remember where i have download it, but it is an .exe file.
After you install it on your computer, you select USB debugging, and connect your phone to the computer, the rest of the process is auto.
After the installation process, the phone will autoreboot in recovery, here you will select ---> Advanced Function---> RE-root System (SuperSU).
After that, reboot, and install SuperSU from GooglePlay.
Success.
Root without boot loop (you may want to wipe Dalvid Cache before reboot after selecting root).
I hope this works for you ( it worked for me HTC desire 526g ).
Have a nice day.
IF you dont find the Philz, contact me, i wil send it to you.
Philz Recovery by ajit is designed for devices using the Mediatek processor; Sadly our 526 (no g, no +) uses a qualcomm processor. I do not recommend anyone to attempt to use "Philz recovery by Ajit" to attempt to root their HTC 526 as at best it will fail and at worse it will flash a non-compatible recovery and turn your device into a hard-brick.

Hi guys, months ago i rooted my HTC 526G with Kingoroot. I later tried to update the software over wifi. It updated but in restarting its now stuck in boot screen and sometimes goes into recovery by itself. Is there a way I can revive the firmware? Any help appreciated

My phone was also rooted using kingroot. I received an OTA update and I downloaded it. Once the download was complete, the phone restarted and got bootlooped. Occasionally, it goes into recovery. I tried factory resetting it several times as mentioned in the solution. But each time I turn the phone ON again after factory reset, it is looping. Its not stuck at the boot logo. Instead it reboots automatically and in some cases to recovery. So the wait-for-10-mins thing is not working for me.
1. I received a stock ROM from the Russian section of XDA. Will flashing that ROM using the stock recovery using "install update from SD card" help me recover my phone from bootloop?
2. Will flashing the stock ROM unroot the phone? Presently, even after the factory resetting, "check the software partition" option in recovery returns a message "error - system has root". So I was hoping that unroofing might fix the problem. Will it?
3. If the above method fails, is there any other method? Like flashing a custom recovery or flashing a custom ROM etc?
Please help me fix the phone. Thanks in advance.
I am experiencing the same problem and have tried everything to avail, will this devise ever work again its still stuck with a white screen and green HTC

Hey negomo. I just fixed the phone yesterday. It seems that installing an OTA update while the phone is rooted can result in a bootloop or bricking(as in my case). I fixed this issue by flashing a stock ROM of the HTC 526g which I got from another Russian forum in XDA. Anyway I am posting the link of that stock ROM here.
( I am not allowed to post link. So please delete the spaces to get the actual link)

Once you download it do the following procedure
1. Copy it to an SD card and insert the card in your phone.
2. Press power button+volume up key button to enter HBOOT menu (while turning on the phone, press power and vol up button instead of power button alone)
3. Choose recovery option and press volume down to enter
4. Press power button once to enter recovery
5. Choose "install update from SD card"
6. Wait till it finishes installation
7. Wipe cache
8. Reboot phone
PS: I had already done a factory reset from recovery menu. I don't know if that had helped.
This will bring your phone back to life. Give around 10 mins for the first boot.
I hope I was able to help you.
Hit thanks if I did.
