I'm looking for the best zip file compression app that the android market has to offer i use root explorer but I feel it does not compress the files enough. Please do not respond to this thread telling me what your favorite file manager is that's not what I'm looking for I need a specific function done more compression

Solid explorer works for my needs but I know you do most direct from your phone. That being the case I'd use zarchiver.
ZipZap
U can compile 7zip from sources. Also "zip" binary is there - just add maximum compression options.
As for da best - u can port Kzip from sources.
Total Commander is best and its free too !!!

I've tried a couple of them and they cant really handle files over 300mb

Root Explorer if you don't mind shelling out a few bucks and Androzip which is free, is a great alternative! Good luck!
Winrar .
Doesnt polaris extract them?

Actually i tried the stock my files app and it did a better job than all of them

Izarc is what I use on my PC. http://www.izarc.org/ App wise I would say Root Explorer, but that would take forever to extract a 300mb even on our dual core Epic.
I usually use Androzip...
So I want to keep comp kids rom but I need stock browser such as the one in the frozen rom then the rom would be a dream does anyone have a stock browser apk file or a flashable file that would work with ec05 ;-) thanks in advance

You can just pull the browser out of one ROM zip in the system/app folder and put it into the other ROM package and flash.

Not quite enough experienced to do that would love a flashablr zip file or installable apk

So I figured it out however my computer will not allow me to cut paste in system app nor copy paste its like it is write protected

Try using 7zip to open the ROM package and extract the browser from one and then drag and drop onto other ROM package.

Anyone know how to save settings through Voltage control to the init.d script? I have an error message coming when I choose save to boot settings and check on init.d script. It says that it cannot write to mkdir said it's read only.

Does anybody have knowledge on this?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yeah you have to mount system as rewritable. Then when you are done mount it as read only.
This is a VERY BASIC thing to know when working custom roms on Android. I suggest google as a good starting point. Not sure if you know, but you can use google to only search this website if you prefer that interface over XDA's built in search (I know I do).
Here is a link to get you started.

Can I just use root explorer to do it?

I have better terminal emulator running as root, do you have an address or link to find the right command lines, or do you know them by any chance?

Does any one have any knowledge to share about our t989 and unlocking its init.d script?

Given answer and link...
Even another person suggested root explorer. Try estrongs file explorer its free.

To me it seems that an Android development site should have more direct answers. Knowledge should not be a consequence.

Root explorer, within the directory there is a button on the top right that by default says "R/O", tap it and it will change to "R/W", then you can do your thing
Ok, I just want to Know how to make programs, like voltage controls and system tuner pro save everything to the init.d script not the post startup process. Is not much i'm asking for just a guide.

You can just use Root Explorer on your phone or Notepad on your PC to copy the parts that you want. If doing it in Root Explorer make sure you hit the menu button and save the new one (people always forget that part). It will automatically create a backup of your old one. Don't forget to leave an empty line at the very bottom.
Awesome thank you

An idea to everyone talking about creating an app or help with an app someone should make something that let's you edit an updater script etc. Straight from your device this thread may be useless if their is an app that does it please let us know if not it'd be super helpful to the folks that don't have computers or laptops or if it isn't possible or this thread is still useless than close it down and delete it.

AW: To everyone that wants to create an app
You can edit the updater-script with any filemanager if you open it as a .txt file, edit it and then just save it without the .txt ending.

Every time I edit it and never saves any idea why

u should try to extract the updater-script from the zip file using a zip manager like ArchiDroid or something similar, then make your changes in the extracted file, save it and then replace the file u changed with the original one in the zip using your zip manager
