To everyone that wants to create an app - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

An idea to everyone talking about creating an app or help with an app someone should make something that let's you edit an updater script etc. Straight from your device this thread may be useless if their is an app that does it please let us know if not it'd be super helpful to the folks that don't have computers or laptops or if it isn't possible or this thread is still useless than close it down and delete it.

AW: To everyone that wants to create an app
You can edit the updater-script with any filemanager if you open it as a .txt file, edit it and then just save it without the .txt ending.

On my device it work perfect ... Which filemanager do u use? maybe try ES File manager, that's what i use
Edit: Do you try to change the script inside a zip file or do u open it direct?

Used es...and i clicked on it and it said open then gave me options and I opened as text
Edit: clicked on the zip file that is then navigated to updater script

Then click save and it said saving but it didn't save

u should try to extract the updater-script from the zip file using a zip manager like ArchiDroid or something similar, then make your changes in the extracted file, save it and then replace the file u changed with the original one in the zip using your zip manager

Noob download question.

Myn's roms are so good so I want to try synergy but every time I try downloading it, it saves as an htm. What am I doing wrong here?

You need to download from the site or mirror and before you download it should tell u if it's a HTML it a rare file
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I.meant rar or zip file
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Ok so switch it to a rar?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Try a different browser.
If you're on a mac, Safari is known to do that with .zip files
Couldn't get it to work have to do it from the computer..

no, you cannot just switch an html file to an rar file.
You are right clicking the link to download, and you are downloading the html file for the mirror site, NOT the actual file. You need to click the link to get to the mirror, then there will be a link to download the zip file.
Yeah, better stick to using the computer on this one, the phone wants to use the htm which makes no sense. I used to always download them from the phone.

[MOD] CRT animation

[DEPRECIATED] I'll work on getting Stock EL29 up soon.
Well, there was a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270232
But it appears the link is down. So, for anyone else that wants it I've edited a stock framework and you can grab it below. What does it do? It is completely stock framework other then the fact that the CRT screen off animation is enabled. Push it to system/framework.
Download
This is a zip file? Is it flashable through CWM?

I downloaded using the link in the OP. Used Root Explorer to rename the existing APK inside system/framework , then pasted the DLd apk in its place.
Immediately Titanium Backup hit me with an FC, then Market. I rebooted.
When my phone came up all of my sync accounts were gone, including my Market gmail account. Smart Keyboard Pro is gone as the default and Swype is back. Etc.
That'll learn me to Nandroid first.

What rom are you using?
You also have to rename the boot animation to what the old one was before you deleted it and change the permissions.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Im on the mik 2.59
I deleted what i thought was the animation but when i rebooted it still was there...i have no clue where toook i guess...and change permissions?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
It may be in a different place on your rom, but on the rom im using, the boot animation is in system/customize/resource. Use root explorer to find it. Make sure you press the "Mount R/W" button at the top and change it to say "Mount R/O" so that way it will let you change permissions and stuff. Delete old boot animation rename yours to whatever the old one was, for example "bootanimation.zip" or htc_bootanimation.zip" After that, long press on your boot animation file and then press "permissions". Change to where it looks like this "rw-r--r--" In other words have "owner, group, and others" all checked on the "read" column. Then check mark "owner" again under the "write" column. That's all that needs to be check marked, uncheck everything else.

Well I'm fresh out of ideas, I made a thread about changing the bootanimation and got an answer but that works for ICS and I do not know if it works for GB.
VeNuM said:
Here's your fix. If you are using a stock rom but a kernel that supports boot animation (and you are rooted), using rootexplorer or a similiar app go into system/bin. Find samsungani and rename it to samsungani.bak. Now find bootanimation in system/bin and rename bootanimation to samsungani. Thats it. Now all bootanimations correctly placed in the system/media file and named bootanimation will work upon boot...

Have you tried Absolute System Root Tools, I've been using this app for a while (on gb & ics) it comes with a lot of bootanimations and makes changing them easy
As far boot sound look in /system/etc for a file called PowerOn.ogg rename it to .bak and place your desired file there just name it PowerOn and it should work
Hope this helps

You won't find it in the folder on your phone. Get a ROM zip and extract the whole 600+ MB file. You'll find it there.
Since you are on stock, look for stock ROM zip. Should be in one of the threads under development.
