How to put your own bootanimations on device with rouge kernal - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Can anyone help me figure out how to put bootanimation on this device or at last change the sound? I'm using rouge kernal el29 now.... And I have a bootanimation.zip in system/media.... When phone boots it just says Android in silver and then sound goes DUH duh duh DUH duh..... Boring! Help?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app

If you are on EL29 the bootanimation theard in the themes section of this forum should be enough to get you up and running.

It didn't.... Apparently I been there before, I forgot.... But no one helped me

Check your PMs

Thanks, the one thing didn't work, downloading ROM toolbox now
*EDIT* room toolbox is awesome! But it didn't fix boot snimations to anything else either

Well I'm fresh out of ideas, I made a thread about changing the bootanimation and got an answer but that works for ICS and I do not know if it works for GB.
VeNuM said:
Here's your fix. If you are using a stock rom but a kernel that supports boot animation (and you are rooted), using rootexplorer or a similiar app go into system/bin. Find samsungani and rename it to samsungani.bak. Now find bootanimation in system/bin and rename bootanimation to samsungani. Thats it. Now all bootanimations correctly placed in the system/media file and named bootanimation will work upon boot...

Where is the install location set to? Data/local or system/media? With rom toolbox I think the default is data/local. Also did you rename the files in system/bin?

I said I had to push the boot ani in both locations. (System/media and Data/local)And refresh my memory, you did change to two files in system/bin? (Samsungani - samsungani.bak. and bootanimation - samsungani)

Have you tried Absolute System Root Tools, I've been using this app for a while (on gb & ics) it comes with a lot of bootanimations and makes changing them easy
As far boot sound look in /system/etc for a file called PowerOn.ogg rename it to .bak and place your desired file there just name it PowerOn and it should work
Hope this helps

[MOD] CRT animation

[DEPRECIATED] I'll work on getting Stock EL29 up soon.
Well, there was a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270232
But it appears the link is down. So, for anyone else that wants it I've edited a stock framework and you can grab it below. What does it do? It is completely stock framework other then the fact that the CRT screen off animation is enabled. Push it to system/framework.

This is a zip file? Is it flashable through CWM?

I downloaded using the link in the OP. Used Root Explorer to rename the existing APK inside system/framework , then pasted the DLd apk in its place.
Immediately Titanium Backup hit me with an FC, then Market. I rebooted.
When my phone came up all of my sync accounts were gone, including my Market gmail account. Smart Keyboard Pro is gone as the default and Swype is back. Etc.
That'll learn me to Nandroid first.

Yep. I don't remember how to do it in Root Explorer but you may need to fix permissions (I use File Manager it makes it a lot easier). Once you reboot they should be there.

K. First change the one apk file so that copy copy doesn't show in it. Then long press on them, select permissions and just select every check box on the popup.
Then regular tap on the apk and attempt to install. You may get a message saying the app didn't install, ignore it.
Now reboot your phone. Hopefully that will fix it. If not there might be compatibility issues with the ROM itself.
It must be a rom thing still not showing up. Mmmmmm dam blazer rom lol

Change eri from sprint

Tried qpst changing banner.... Didn't work. How do you change the carrier name in notification bar when dragged down? And in apps, and about phone menu..... Its .net sprint anymore. You won't find it in the folder on your phone. Get a ROM zip and extract the whole 600+ MB file. You'll find it there.
