Once all variations of the Note II are released will the forum become a little more organized and divided as to find the right info for the right model of phone? I have only ever had phones that were exclusive to one carrier and didnt have to worry about flashing a ROM from another carrier or different version of the phone. Will it even make a difference? I know the US LTE model is what N7105 and the international model is N7100 so I am assuming that flashing between the two could be a no no?

I've been Note 1 user since March and love the device and additional functionality, not to mention screen size. Thinking about switching to Note 2. But I need to make a decision on whether I will go with International Unlocked or with AT&T Branded. I am not all that interested in having LTE speeds, though if it is available I will use it. The question that I have is that I do like to have updated firmware available to install as it comes out, which is often enough with International version. With Note 1 International and AT&T were different devices with different hardware, so firmware for International would not work. What about Note 2? It's hardware will be the same, sans LTE radio. Would International firmware work on AT&T branded version?
So, to summarise, I am trying to decide on:
1. International with no LTE speed but better battery and quicker firmware update availability
2. AT&T Branded with LTE speed and probably lesser batter life and possibly usual carrier firmware upgrades slowness.
3. Since all Note 2 are the same hardware with exception of LTE radio same international firmware will work across all versions.
Anyone has suggestions?
Thanks,
Now, normally I'm not a big advocate of buying carrier branded devices, mainly because of the carrier's ability to track the device (for billing purposes), their penchant for excluding features and pre-loading bloatware, slow updates, and custom firmware/hardware which inhibits community development. However, in the case of the AT&T Note 2, it's looking like a lot of those concerns may not apply to this device. In other words, for once, this is going to be a GSM/LTE device that's actually going to be using 99.9% of the same hardware found in the International LTE Note 2 (N7105), with only a different LTE radio in order to be compatible with AT&T LTE.
So this begs the question: Should I wait until the AT&T Note 2 is available, and then simply flash the international firmware onto it (but retain the AT&T modem.bin driver), effectively having a quasi-international LTE Note 2, or should I just forgo the whole LTE thing, and stick to getting the non-LTE N7100?
What do you guys think?

I`m not sure but I dont think you would want to flash the international firmware on it.... As for issues like N7100 is NOT gonna be the same model number as AT&T`s version

I would at least wait to see all the features of the ATT model to make sure it will be acceptable and not changed too drastically before deciding. For me, LTE is too big of a feature not to have. The fact that I will be getting the quad core exynos is just icing on the cake! Can't wait!

Didn't see that one! LOL! Mods can close this one then I guess. My bad.
As for flashing the international firmware, I suppose I should be more specific: Flash the international N7105 (LTE Unlocked Note 2) firmware onto the AT&T version, but keep the AT&T modem drivers (assuming that's the only major hardware difference).
I currently have my Note 2 on its way from my carrier, Telecom NZ. But its a slight variant from the standard N7100. It'a a "N7100T" the difference being it has the 850MHz 3G band. I believe Telstra AUS has the same one.
I'm no stranger to rooting and flashing custom roms, but I'm a little confused as to whether I will have to use roms specific to my variant of the phone? Anyone else have this same Note 2?
Historically, the T variant just indicates optimised support for the 850mhz 3G band, and software for the non-T variant works fine. Given this is the first T variant to launch, it may require a little caution - but it's unlikely be a variant of the N7105 or anything. Best practice to wait until a download of a stock build is available before tinkering too much. Watch out for fast dormancy settings on N7100 ROMs if you value battery life!

Thanks for the reply.
I was browsing through SamFirmware and noticed the Vodafone note 2 is showing as the N7105. I'm curious, what carrier are you on and what model do you have exactly.
There one other ROM available for NZ and its just listed as "New Zealand" but is for a N7100. So I'm assuming this one to either be for 2degrees or Telecom. Kind of confusing myself haha
UPDATE
Okay so I got the phone. LOVE IT. Just came from an iphone5 so quite a difference but I was on an S3 before that.
Anyway, I found the stock rom on Samsung-Updates.com so after a bit of browsing the dev forums I'll start to tinker.
Any update on this post? I too have the N7100t and was looking to upgrade to 4.1.2 but can only find it for the N7100.
I am with AT&T, does anyone know whats the different between the AT&T unlocked version compare to the international N7100 version?
Do we get LTE for this phone cause N7100 I think we only get 4g?
Any different in rooting or using any custom roms? I have seen from other phones, some roms will only work with international version but not with AT&T.
Can someone give me some feedback what I should get?

The N7100 is not LTE, the N7105 is (And 4G=LTE, don't pay attention to the AT&T lie). N7100 roms cannot be used with N7105 or AT&T phones, unless you want an expensive paperweight.
Can we flash a rom from the n7100 or the n7105 onto the i317? Will everything work like lte and what not? TIA
7105 will most likley work but 7100 would probably leave you with a brick. If you can help it try to stick to i317/m roms
so i317m roms will work? does anything have to be done to a n7105 rom?

Ya the m is just the Canadian carrier variant. There is nothing physically different between it and the at&t version. It depends on the rom. Some might work perfectly others will need a modem / new apn's or might not work at all. Honestley stay in this section unless you absolutely have to
Ok i just never understood what the difference between the international version and the att version of any phone was. Why cant samsung just make one phone for all the markets? Why does the international one get more developer support?
well the 7100 and 7105 are both "International" but the 5 supports LTE while the 0 is only HSPA+ iirc. And they cant make one phone for all markets because everyone uses different bands and every carrier has different needs

Making one phone for all! Not happening! And there's also the different modems that actually talk to the cell towers. That's another thing that makes them different. And that's what can brick your phone flashing the wrong Rom with modern included!
