Can we flash a rom from the n7100 or the n7105 onto the i317? Will everything work like lte and what not? TIA
7105 will most likley work but 7100 would probably leave you with a brick. If you can help it try to stick to i317/m roms
so i317m roms will work? does anything have to be done to a n7105 rom?

Ya the m is just the Canadian carrier variant. There is nothing physically different between it and the at&t version. It depends on the rom. Some might work perfectly others will need a modem / new apn's or might not work at all. Honestley stay in this section unless you absolutely have to
Ok i just never understood what the difference between the international version and the att version of any phone was. Why cant samsung just make one phone for all the markets? Why does the international one get more developer support?
well the 7100 and 7105 are both "International" but the 5 supports LTE while the 0 is only HSPA+ iirc. And they cant make one phone for all markets because everyone uses different bands and every carrier has different needs

Making one phone for all! Not happening! And there's also the different modems that actually talk to the cell towers. That's another thing that makes them different. And that's what can brick your phone flashing the wrong Rom with modern included!

Will the Canadian Note 2 (T889V) work with ROMs from T-Mobile's Note 2 T889? and is there any difference in hardware and modem?
Yes, but you will want to flash your providers rom.

are there any hardware differences? (im guessing the modem could be different, but no one would know without doing an teardown)
I'm sure they are the same. I mean, ATTi317 and T889 are the same. Only difference would be carrier I guess.
I know there was a guy selling a SGS3 T999V which was able to get dumbphone data on att/Tmo.
And if roms can be flashed between i317/n7100/T889, why not on the T889V

the thing is that it seems people with tmo variant get bootloops when they flash t889v modem
which seems rather odd, as this shouldnt happen if the hardware is the same
The T889 roms should work fine on the V, but I could see why they might not work other way around. IMO, there is no point in running V roms on my T889.
Does the T mobile version have an FM radio? (the Canadian version T889V does not have an FM reserve)
Has anyone successfully installed a T999 baseband/radio/modem to a i747?

Because I'm looking to buy an S3 and the only ones that are selling used around here are i747. I want to use it with Wind Mobile which uses the T999 because they use AWS frequencies.
I747 baseband doesn't support AWS.
If you're planning on using Wind, stick with T999/T999V

As I already stated, the i747 is the only phone that people are selling. Also, the i747 has the hardware to work for Wind Mobile technically because it uses AWS for LTE in my region. It may very well be possible to install the T999 baseband/modem to an i747 to use AWS for 3G voice communication. I've ready about it working for the S2 between the LTE and T989 versions.

I read your post. I know what you stated. I was simply reiterating what you've obviously read on a hundred other threads: they have different baseband and modems, some have different portions disabled per each carrier model. What you've also discovered is that everyone asks this question but there is no confirmed response because no one has actually tried it. Either be a pioneer and give it a shot, just keep wondering or buy a T999. Lots have been asking your same question since the phone released last June but not a single hero

It may have worked with the SII and some other models; maybe it will also work on the i747 in the future. But for the moment, work is still in progress. A complete modem switch that sticks after reboot does not work as of now for the i747.

I did not do this intentionally. But, it looks like i installed SlimBean ROM into my T999 and it went on to become a i747. The otherwise should also be possible . Please check that out.
Hello,
Has a T999 modem been successfully flashed to a i747m yet? I'm looking to switch to Wind Mobile but dont want to have to buy a different phone just for that.
Hi there,
It started with when I bought int. version N7100 from Amazon.com. I live in Canada and use WIND mobile. So I inserted my SIM and it didn't work! I sent Note 2 back to the seller, and get refunded soon. So, basically, I'm sort of noob here, and have a noob question. Sorry, but need your help.
Now, I want to give a try to purchase N7105 or SGH-T889V (from Mobilcity, cuz it is cheaper) version, and use it with my WIND sim card.
1) Will N7105 work with WIND AWS band right away or do I have to root and flash WIND modem for it?
2) Same question as in 1) but for Mobilcity Note 2 (but I guess it will work right away without any software modification. I want just to make sure).
3) After 3-4 months I'm moving to USA (more likely) or Europe (depending my job offer), and going to get sim card from some local carrier. Which model, N7105 or SGH-T889V, covers more network?
4) As far as I understand SGH-T889V fully supports what N7105 supports, but not vice versa, am I right?
If you want to use your Note 2 on Wind then the T889V is the one you want. It's also possible to flash a radio hack on the Bell/Rogers/Telus version to get AWS HSPA. However, the T889V does not have LTE officially.
For travelling, , 7105 will be your best bet in Europe as it will support every carrier there and you will get LTE if the carriers support it. The T889V will be better for the States as it supports AWS HSPA on Tmobile, however still no LTE.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I saw on the internet people using N7105 with Bell, Telus, and Rogers with full LTE potential. And my question 1) still holds. Is it possible to do that? Even if it is possible, will it be same quality connection/performance as native (T889V) Note2?
But according wikipeadia, T889V supports some LTE bands. Maybe after flashing the modem, as you said, it will be compatible Bell/Rogers/Telus.
Now, I'm coming to conclusion that both of them work with almost all major North American carrier with full potential, while N7105 also is gonna support EU carriers. So, it is sort of N7105 > SGH-T889V, i.e. is N7105 way to go?
Hy, i don't t get it... all of the roms here can be used on n7105 as well? If yes, why is there a section for n7105 at n7100 original thread?
(I'm on Hungarian T-Mobile)

The N7100 is the International version and the N7105 is the International version with LTE. The N7105 is pretty much the same as the T-Mo and ATT Note 2. I don't think flashing N7100 ROMs is a good idea.

Nono, i mean flashing att and other tmo roms.
In this forum T-Mobile is really T-Mobile USA. (IMO the forum's name could be modified, but that's beyond my control.)
If T-Mobile Hungary sells the N7105 then you'd be OK flashing T889 ROMs on it, as well as I317 ones. But the question I have is: why? Aside from a few T-Mobile branded icons, or wi-fi calling which is only useful if you have a T-Mobile USA account, those ROMs usually aren't as up to date as their N7105 relatives. They also lack the language and locale settings you'd need to use it in Hungarian.
DO NOT flash LTE Note II ROMs on non-LTE Note 2 variants. There are significant hardware differences between the two.
have a "note classic" that I love. thinking I will also pickup a Note 3. Will any of the other variants of this model [AT&T for instance] work fine with a T-mobile ROM? on my current note, the i717 model and this one are pretty much interchangeable ROM-wise.
I am a HUGE daily user of the WIFI calling app on T-mo net. excellent feature

All Tmobile branded phones which have a Tmobile sim card and have a stock
or stock based custom rom/firmware have wifi calling.
Any and all models of phones which are not Tmobile branded will not have
wifi calling and are not compatible with wifi calling even if the phone is
unlocked and or rooted.
Good luck!
understood, but that is only stating the obvious. my question is whether other variants of this same platform are shown to be compatible with the t-mo rom, modified or stock [mine is modified, for instance]. with note-1 and others the answer is yes - some are, others are not. the t-mo rom and modem can be applied to i717 in the example I gave.
wondering if there are any such friendly models of Note 3 other than the default N900T

I think I understand what you're saying. The short answer would be no. I dont think you can flash modems from other models interchangeably with the note 3. I could be wrong though. So don't take my word for it 100%. But im pretty sure that the modems are model specific and flashing a modem from a different model note 3 could end in a brick.

Yea, just stick to flashing our own modems, usually the newer ones for the note 3 seem to be better in my experience, with the s3 that was different but yea don't flash other carriers modems.

9005 ROMs are compatible with tmob, but their modems and the firmware base isn't. You would not want to flash a 9005 based firmware modem boot loader on our smn900t. Bad idea. That said, their ROMs, are compatible, some mods etc etc.

What I was trying to say is that variants can be ported and
they do work fine if you keep your modem/bootloader BUT......
Here is what I was saying about WIFI Calling, even though the variants
work, they cannot and will never have a WORKING WIFI-Calling and
that's what the OP was asking about.

Sure, you are correct, I was responding to the individual posts, i don't believe I quoted the ops original question, although this is true, I was just elaborating upon some comments that I felt compelled to answer.

Working Wifi calling will never happen if using a ported rom.
