I've been looking for a ROM for this phone and I've used some of the best. Like cm9, wild child etc but every Rom has major issues like data or mms. So I just need a custom Rom that's stable.

I would try WildChild 3.3 DeOdex, i have been using it as a daily driver and have found very few problems. As for the mms if you use GoSms or even better GoChat i can send and receive anything. Backup and do all your wipes, now is not a bad time to partition your card, I have a 4gb card I partitioned in CWM I chose IM 1024, next 0M, now go to mounts and storage put the files on your SD card, flash the WC 3.3 deodexed, then flash the Virgin Mobile patch for HenseMod, yes even if your not Virgin Mobile, reboot and see if all works, mine did not the first couple times, it boot looped a couple times, I reflashed the ROM and Patch, for good measure I made sure to wipe again and it works like a charm. After that I rebooted back into recovery and ran the Data2SD script, it gave me 2.7gb on SD card and 915mb on Internal memory. I Benchmarked at 2069, so its pretty snappy.

Im using wc 3.3 now. And Iits kind of OK .I've partitioned my SD card and can't even mount it.
Sent from my HTC-PG762 using xda app-developers app
How did you partition? And have you tried to go to CWM and under the advanced tab try to format everything and then try to partition again. If that don't work I would try and use a card reader and run some sort of disc utility and see if the card is corrupt.
I did it with cwm first then I was unsure about the mount so I mounted as disk drive and used mini partition wizard thingy. And just did it again. To be sure. But make sure you back up on cpu

So are you saying you did get it to mount?

Try Superior Sense. :good:
The most Stable one out there imho. Its Based on Sense but the folding and flipping animations add a superb feel to the phone.
Not encountered one Force close. .
As for me I am not in a mood for changing roms anytime soon......but henry01 released a new MIUI version.....muahahahahahahahahaha.

Hi, I've installed the starburst rom on my desire and, once in a while, it reboot spontaneously by itself. It did this with the 1.2.0 and the old data2sd, I wiped and flashed the 1.3.0 with the new data2sd script and it kept doing it, then the same problem even wiping again and flashing the 1.3.2. I'm using a 8 gb SD with a little less than 2gb ext4 partition and the rest a primary fat32, done from Linux. Any idea?

have you flashed a custom kernel?
i use starburst since 1.20 and never had problems like this....
you are also sure you did the installation right?
remember at reboot to do nothing except of entering the pin

No, I'm not using a custom kernel and yes, I did the installation right. Wipe->flash the rom->reboot, select the language->reboot in recovery->installed data2sd script
Beside this problem the rom is working fine, it's fast, tested with quadrant I got a 1970 score. This thing is seriously pissing me off...
I am using the latest version 1.3.2 and do not have any problems. You mention your partitions in the wrong order, is your fat 32 partition first?

Yes, the primary partition is fat32.
Besides this reboot problem sometimes the phone tell me "The process com.htc.gbc (or something like that) has stopped working". What does this mean? Are these two issues connected?
The processes's name is com.htc.bgp

This is really a question for the General or Q&A forums, but the answer is yes. There's an app on the market called Boot Manager which lets you set up and boot between 5 different roms - 4 on your SD card and one on the phone.
The good - it actually works.
The bad - it doesn't work.
At least that's been my experience with it. At one point, I had 3 different roms all working perfectly on it, now, I can't see to get anything to work. A little frustrating, but I'm still glad I bought the app - that it does work at all (if all the planets align) is pretty amazing, and I'm sure it'll get better over time.
In cases where it doesn't work, how easy is it to get back to using your phone? And how is the transfer of data? Do you use Titanium Backup?

If it fails, boot into recovery and flash the update.zip file from the boot managers phonerom folder. Visit www.init2winitapps.com for the complete users guide. It works well for me. I have four roms installed in mine.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
I have 4 roms on the sd card. Takes time to set them up but once you are done, it works. For some odd reason though, I can't make it work with ext4, only accepts ext2 on the inc 2. Works fine with ext4 file system on the bolt I have. That's the only problem so far.

I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. I bought Boot Manager and installed Virtuous Unity in sd card slot 1. Do I need to install a kernel separately or is it installed already? The install took some time and when it finished I hit "reboot into rom 1" and it told me there was no rom in slot 1. I am going to flash the update.zip file now.
edit: i've flashed the update.zip and tried an AOSP rom instead of sense and I get the same error.
can you mix sense and AOSP roms using this???

Convert your file system to ext 4 using 4EXT recovery. I have MIUI installed on phone as ext4 and works just fine for me

So, since ICS ROMs became available for the T-Mobile G2, this is the first time I cannot find any custom ROM that I actually like. So I want to go back to using the CM7 ROMs. Anything I need to take special attention to?
I am currently running the "unofficial CM9" ROM with Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2.7. I could not find a walk thru or any guides for going back to GB.
Thanks!
Just like any rom, backup what you'd like, do a full wipe (superwipe and or fastboot wipe is prefered) then flash rom of choice, gapps-kernel-mods if needed.

OK, just making sure. If I never messed with kernels or anything else, I imagine I just wipe and flash ROM/gapps...?
Correct, after you wipe just follow the instrucitons the dev has provided for your rom of choice. Some will need you to flash gapps, some flash kernel, some other mods if you'd like. Going from gingerbread to froyo to ics to donut to cupcake to eclaire, if you wipe that's all that matters before install

The only issue I can see with going back to GB is if your partitions were ext4 (which they should be otherwise ics is laggy) and the ROM only supported ext3.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Interesting point. I rarely do any other mods or optimization, but that may be my problem. Lag is one of my main gripes. How can I tell if I am partitions to ext4?
if you have 4ext recovery there is an option there to format system or at least check system formats, you will see either ext3 or ext4
im sure this can be done other ways, maybe through terminal or adb but this is a simple way of checking and or changing the system format
Definitely get 4EXT. It allows easy non-destructive formatting from EXT3 -> EXT4 either via recovery or via the app. It's an incredible recovery with an awesome developer who is very active and partial to feedback.
There were a bunch of Andromadus users awhile back suffering from lag & stuttering at times w/ ICS and they all had their partitions still as EXT3. I know that going from EXT3 -> EXT4 on GB was a huge performance increase for me and I'd assume it would be the same, if not more, on ICS..

I'll have to search for a guide as my recovery doesn't appear to show me anything about next, but maybe I'll give pics another try with ext4 before going back to GB.
Edit: Oh I see, there is a separate recovery called 4EXT. Gonna try it now.

Try 4EXT Touch. I was very hesitant about switching to touch-based recoveries (old habits die hard), but am now glad I have and wish I'd done it sooner

Well, backto CM7, but now having Market hiccups.
Did you do a full wipe? Try clearing the cache for google play under settings>manage applications
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I did SuperWipe, installed CM7, installed latest GB gapps. Once booted, Google "Market" (I thought GB was also updated to "Play"??) was telling me it cannot install things due to an error. I went into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache, fix permissions, and rebooted, same thing right now. I did also go into Market in Manage Apps and cleared all data from Market.
it will say market @ first install and then will update to play shortly. If these fixes still don't work try to get a log cat

Eh, I wiped again and rebooted. Now it is updating and seems the universe is fine. Thanks
One of my gripes with ICS was the Browser not loading pages, or pages going blank, when doing anything with a form control like a text box or drop down menu... However, I loved that the bookmarks would sync with the ones I use in Chrome on my other PCs. Does something like this exist for GB?
Chrome to phone app, or mozzila can sync with firefox.
Applications (generlly speaking) are not firmware specific - what works on froyo works on gb works on ics.

Not sure if you understood what I meant. The browser app in ICS is very different from the one in GB. When you go into the Browser on ICS, you have "Local" bookmarks and "Network" bookmarks. The network ones sync with the same bookmarks that your Chrome desktop browser is syncing. Chrome to phone just pushes them to my phone, but it would have been nice to not have to manage the bookmarks separately on the phone. Minor concern really.
Yesterday, I went back to stock for a backup. I added init.d support from pimp my rom. It worked and I installed busy box. Then I flashed the data2sd script. My phone then showed this error: System UIDs are inconsistent. You need to wipe data partition. I did that and all problems seemed to be fixed. But then when I rebooted the phone later, I lost all my apps, all settings reverted to original and my SD card storage wasn't mounted. Somehow I still had my 2gb internal. I just switched back to cm9.
Could someone please provide a working and stable data2sd for stock? And has anyone tried INT2EXT+?
Thanks

I'm using int2ext+ on my stock rom, but I'm on a marvelc.

As for that error you speak of, I got that when I flashed the script without first wiping anything. With a good backup, anything is worth a try!

So I'm on cm10.1 and I'm wanting to go back to 4.1 probably frosty jb. Am I able to just flash frosty from twrp or do I have to odin 4.1 first??
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
just flash the 4.1 after wiping everything including internal and external storage, (I do and suggest it). This way the emulated/0 folder wont be there and cause you to clutter the threads up. Of course back up your both of your storage areas, if you choose to wipe them.
Beware, it seems going back from 4.2 to 4.1 could break your GPS. If that happens, you can look in the General section on a possible fix.
You can install any Rom with twrp whether you are going from 2.3.2 to 4.2 or vice versa.

I also flashed the 4.2 rom when I was experimenting when I first got my phone. When I flash back to 4.1.1 I had the emulated /0 folder. At that time I just copied everything out of that folder into the internal. Problem with that is the /0 folder can not be deleted. I have been wondering what is the best method to format internal sd. I am currently on Frosty rom and I have nothing to lose in my internal that can't be replaced. Can I just format and reboot system or do I need to reflash rom after deleting internal? On other devices I have had there was always a risk of bricking if you formatted internal. I would appreciate any advice so that I don't mess up my phone. Thanks is advance. BTW I use TWRP as my recovery method.

Hey is Bluetooth working in 4.1 cm10? Specifically the music streaming to blue tooth?
Just went back to stock for Bluetooth but I hate stock...
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Imma say... going from 4.2.1 back to 4.1 was a b!tch. Caused me to have to start all over. And as another individual stated above, there is an emulated /0/ folder that 4.2 uses due to the new profile architecture. Basically you wiping your phone, it leaves a copy of your SD card in the /0/. The restore process in CWM (I've not used TWRP on my GS3 so I can't speak for it), it breaks the restore process as CWM can't read from other than it's predefined restore location. Now I've read on the Nexus 7 forums that do restore, you could potentially make a copy of your CWM folder from /0/ into your base sd folder.
I guess just play around with it, but personally I recommend not jumping to 4.2.1. I personally had to ODIN back to stock and wipe everything and start over cuz I ran out of space to move files and it just took too long since each time you wipe, it would embed everything in a /0/ and eventually the copies just overwhelmed.
But basically key understanding of this whole restore/downgrade issue is 4.2.1's profile architecture dumping all your SDcard (phone) content into /0/ and your CWM is used to restoring from SD/clockworkmod/backup rather than looking @ SD/0/clockworkmod/backup.
I flash from 4.2.1 to 4.1.1 and back all the time... Never ever had an issue
