Hi all,
I'm always finding folders and files from old uninstalled apps on my phone etc as I am sure many of you are. I'm aware that some of them might be game saves etc but I can always copy those with TiBu.
I've come across the App 'SD Maid' and was wondering if anyone here has ever used it to find and clear out those unwanted files/folders.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm&hl=en
Seems to be a good app.
Any reviews from anyone?
Cheers,
T-L-H

Used it on all my devices all roms. Works. Phones didn't explode have the paid version since ages

I am also using it, and it works just fine.

I'm liking Corpse Finder
So it'll remove any old files not being used ect... takes a while to clean itself though, meh.

Looking for some help here. Long time viewer/poster, first time I've had a problem. Perhaps I can find help.
After a music transfer last night, my phone is no longer recognizing the files in my SD card's Music folder. The files can still be located and played through ES File Explorer and other file manager apps, but all my music players (Play Music, Winamp, stock HTC player) do not show them.
Upon searching the forums and the Internet, I have noticed this problem exists across multiple devices, and the solutions are easy to do and seem to work...for everyone except me. Clearing app data/cache, uninstalling/reinstalling, using SDrescan, searching for .nomedia files (none found anywhere), unmounting/remounting, wiping and reflashing my current ROM (DigitalKarma V8)...nothing works, and I am running out of patience. I am close to completely resetting the phone and reformatting the SD card (after backing up, of course...I'm not THAT stupid )
It's likely I may be doing something wrong, but to be safe, I want to see if there is anything I am either missing or overlooking in order to fix this common yet annoying problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah the best step if you've tried everything would just be to reformat your sdcard because it sounds like something broke on that
OH. 1 thing before you do that, make sure that the permissions for your music is set to readable by everyone, hopefully that fixes it

Wait, hold the phone. Using File Manager to search my SD card, I find a whole s***load of .nomedia files. ES File Explorer couldn't find them...guess I found a new file manager lol
Now to delete all those files and try this thing again...wish me luck.
Fixed! Looks like I did miss/overlook something, and deleting those .nomedia files took care of everything. Now that I have my music back (and a new file manager...well, not really new, I've used it occasionally in the past), I can get back to enjoying the piece of classic awesome we call the EVO 4G. Consider this case closed.
Put "[SOLVED]" in the thread title please

Ah, I knew I forgot something. Thanks for the heads up. Like I said, first time I've had a problem/question.

That's exactly what you do is delete all those .NO MEDIA files. Also, there's an app called Rescan Media that will work
Hello all! Ive done some research and still am not completely understanding the partition thing. I downloaded an app that was called app2sd (I think that was the name) but it says unable to do so because of a patch that was needed. Can someone explain specifically the process. What is the partition and what about this patch thing? lol sorry but I knew just enough to use the toolkit to root my phone and now id like to benefit from it. Thanks to all who help.

Well from the research I've done after no replies here. They have resulted in the ultimate answer being is yes you can move apps to SD, BUT it takes a process that I don't think I'd be able to do. You have to "fool" your note 2 into thinking that your SD is your internal memory and I don't want to mess things up. If someone has an easy, easy way to do this please let me know. Until then I will just wait til 4.3 update which hopefully apps to SD will be integrated with that update. The S4 in Germany has it, Shortly others shall follow. Well maybe not shortly but eventually haha.

There's an app called folder mount that works with high data games.

+1 on FolderMount. It's different from Apps2SD. I suggest installing My Drives. It'll help find the files that are big storage hogs.
The problem is how Android setups up the memory because of the ability to have multiple profiles.
I haven't personally tried it on the GN2, but you could tired the function Convert to System App. Maybe through that you can move an app to the SD card.
Not that they all do, but I find the two biggest storage hogs are games and videos. Videos are easily moved. Well, nandroids are too.
That is what's eating up most my memory is videos and pictures. I eventually change it over to where my pics and vids were stored on my sd card but that was after my internal memory was almost all gone. Im just going to get drop box on my computer and store them there so I can erase them on my phone to free the memory. The only reason I didn't want to do that before is because my cpu is 3 4 years old and slow. so I hate getting on it. Ill just suck it up and do it. Thanks guys.
If you set up a google+ account you can use it the same way as drop box and you can also get picasa Web, the cool thing about them is Thayer all free unlike drop box
Give it a try I think that's the best route and you can upload from your phone.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Thanks ya'll and I've got drop box on my CPU now and it is free...for what I'm using it for anyway.

I accidentally deleted one of my folders from the Sense gallery. It's not the end of the world, but I'd really like to get them back if possible. I've been digging around for an hour or so for solutions, and aside from promising apps like DiskDigger (which found some photos, but couldn't FTP or e-mail them to me), I haven't had any luck. The other app people talk about 'Undelete', doesn't seem to work for the One (I'm rooted using the launch day boot unlock code, if that helps).
I've tried a couple of windows based approaches (by mounting the phone as a USB device), but no luck there. Anyone have any luck recovering photos and zoes on a One?
Thanks.

Do you back them up to Dropbox? Best way to prevent accidental deletions of your photos, otherwise I think you are out of luck. Wish I could offer more help, I once deleted a bunch of family photos by accident so I know how much it can suck.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, I don't. I used to, but concerns about dropbox space and battery performance (those zoes are big!) caused me to disable it. Thanks for the idea though.

It sucks to lose them. My wife bricked her phone and it had over 5800 pictures on it (no joke...she works for local animal shelter and uses her phone to find homes etc). Either way...she never backed up. I thought we had lost them all, but she had Google + back up set up by accident. It had backed up all of her photos. I am glad it was set to wifi only though

Undelete for Root Users

Hey guys I'm pretty new here so please go easy on me. Recently I updated my Vault Pro app and for some reason all of my pictures that I had stored have been deleted. They are nowhere on my sdcard or internal drive to be found, I have emailed the developer without a reply. After reading some of the comments on the app after the update it appears that I'm not the only one. Does anyone have any information or assistance they can give to me? I'd really like my pics back and to know that they aren't out there in the freaking cloud.....
Only thing I know is if you're rooted then flash a backup. As far as cloud storage I don't think vaulty did that (at least when I used it they didn't)

This was very recently that this had happened, I'd say within the month. People posted a few comments on the apps page about KitKat.
"Well, Google's stupid Kitkat has pretty much killed using SD Cards to write to, so while many people's Vaults are still on their phones, because of how Google has structured permissions, individual Vaults are now unreadable until a fix comes out (if it ever does). Awful (but not the developers fault)."
"After I updated my note 3 to KitKat, it completely wiped out all of my pics and videos. Please.....fix"
I'm not too sure as to what could have happened or what changed but I'd also like to get my pics back if it's possible. Anyone? Anything?

I don't believe that there is an online backup feature.
Thought this may be useful for everyone to have as the device does sadly have a tendency to be a bit laggy.
Have followed a few guides and got some great info from XDA so trying to give a little back if I can
From what I have done I have found no ill effects that I have noticed so far, all fairly obvious choices so early on, but will get braver as I get more used to the handset and I'm sure others have been more adventurous than me and can help bulk the list up a bit and we can do away with a whole bunch of bloat to get a smoother ride from out G3. Some of these I froze as I prefer other 3rd party apps.
Frozen/Removed
Cell Broadcast
E-Mail
Documents
File Manager
Internet/Stock Browser
LG Health
LG Search Widget Provider
LG Setup Wizard
McAfee Security

Weather Platform
If you have any other suggestions please post and and I'll add updates to Post 1 for easy reference :highfive:
Hope this helps some fellow G3 users

I think you should do a different list for the Google apps, the main attention people will give this thread is to find out what LG apps they can freeze and remove, most people will not be interesting in removing the Google apps from their devices.

Understood, you are most likely correct. Google Apps removed from list
If possible, can you post the real app name (the apk name in /system/app or /system/app-priv) ?
Thanks
Get my G3 later today. Thanks for the list! I'm completely new to Android, so how do I remove bloat ware?

Is freezing them through TB essentially a better version of hibernating them through Greenify?

They do different things. Freezing them is like uninstalling them - they are gone and won't work at all but can be retrieved by unfreezing. Greenifying them just hibernates them but they work as normal.

Could we have a non-root list, and also a description of what gets disabled/broken for each one. E.g. what does Cell Broadcast do? (I've googled, I 'm now aware, not relevant currently in the UK).
ActionManager service? Board Content Provider?
I've found this list but most of the bloat on Verizon wasn't on mine, since I'm not in the US: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/list-bloatware-safe-to-disable-t2819370
I wonder if anyone has the time, patience, and good will to compile all of these threads into one master index?

I've noticed that the system doesn't allow you to disable everything if you're not rooted so maybe anything you are allowed to disable is safe to disable.

And how is everything working out after having disabled all those 3 weeks ago? Any anomalies or bad experiences? So far your screenshots give the best list of the removable apps (I'm completely new to LG so I don't know about their stock stuff), and I'd love to remove them but I'm afraid to experiment without a fully working recovery to restore nandroid.

Awesome, thanks for the quick feedback! I just got a notification about a new downloadable software update (will not do it ofc), I suppose freezing the software update app will mean no more notifications and to setbacks either?

Correct. I have mine frozen to avoid receiving update notifications. Also this is good until you find out if the new update is rootable. If its not then its good to stick with the current software.

My list is almost this one of yours. Had to unfreeze some of those because it made the home screen very lagged.
Everything Google uninstalled or frozen for over 2 weeks. No problems or complaints.
thanks the development has really taken off for this great device
So I froze most of these. Will it free up memory or do I have to delete them? Kinda scared to delete them. I have nandroid backup, just hate to possibly have to restore when the phone is running good.
