T-Mobile Bloatware Removal *Help Needed*

So I've seen various threads on people who have successfully removed a ton of bloatware from their phone thus increasing performance but not harming anything.
Does anyone have a list of safe items to uninstall/disable from startup that will increase performance while not affecting the phones stability/important functions?

There was a list in one of the threads. You can just google "safe list of apps to remove galaxy s3". Another way though, it to look at the tmobile debloated uvalem rom thread. It has a screenshot with a fully debloated tmobile S3, which only has like 5 apps left. That will give you a solid starting point.

I believe the safe app list for removal is a Google doc listed under a specific carrier. I think it was sprint but not too sure.

This isn't specific to T-mo but it has most of the stuff you can remove. You can remove everything from t-mo except for the t-mo tether app with Titanium backup.

if your on stock and not rooted you can disable apps you don't use. just go to application manager, all and disable the app..

Has anyone removed all three allshare apps and the samsung account back up, cloud data, and cloud synca, apps safely?

I know this isn't really a list of apps to uninstall, but here is screen shots of all the apps I have installed right now AFTER I got done removing all the ones I didn't want. none of the apps or hidden or disabled. So I guess you can compare and decide for your self what apps to remove.
I hope this helps at least a little sense the link for this thread pops up a lot when searching for this.

Solution for "Security Error"

One of the reasons you may be rooting your Nitro might be to remove bloatware. At least, that was the main reason for me.
Anyway, after you root and go about customizing and deleting apps, you will likely find yourself rebooting and being greeted by an LG logo and the words "Security Error". Then you go through the terrible motions of unbricking your phone and trying again only to brick it once more.
Well, after bricking my phone a good 30 times, I have found a solution. Here it is:
DO NOT UNINSTALL ALL AT&T SYSTEM APPS
There you have it. It seems that AT&T has set up their ROMs to verify that all system apps are intact at boot. If they are not, they assume that the ROM has been tampered with. Of course, this does not mean that you can't freeze these apps. I used Titanium Backup to freeze these apps.
When I finished customizing my Nitro, I booted into ClockWorkMod Recovery and made a backup. Each time I bricked my phone while testing this, I just restored that backup. I've also kept the backup on my SD card just in case.
Here is a list of the apps that I have found will brick your Nitro if removed:
AT&T Address Book (Safe to remove with v20c update)
AT&T Navigator (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Books* (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Movies*
Google Play Music (Safe to remove with v20c update)
Google Play Store/Market
*I have found that these ones will defrost on reboot.

i can tell you for a fact that 90% of those are safe to remove and I have done so.

Yep, most of those are safe to remove. I have security error only then tried to install CWM from leaked firmware.

I'm just going off the fact that every time I removed one of them, I got the security error.
I'd be happy to edit my list if you can provide a list of the ones you have removed.

AT&T Address book was the first one I tried. It bricked it a couple days ago and it just bricked it just now.

Ok, I'm making a ClockWorkMod backup right now and will give the others another try.

I think I need to point out that I'm pretty sure mattman86 is talking about experiencing the secure boot error while on the one-click installation ICS leak whereas people replying to him are using the CWM-flashable ICS leak. I could be wrong, though.

I have actually gotten the error with the CWM version also. Just not as often.

my comments are based on my experience with both.

Ok, I did some more testing and am going to edit my list now.

this is a pretty safe list. you might try using root explorer to nav over to those apk's and change the perms & delete.
i don't mind the address book and the store is certainly required but those others, ugh.

Just tested. On 20c only one app that bricking device is Google Play Movies :laugh:. Books and Music are safe to remove. I did not try to remove Play Store.

Is Address Book safe to remove?

Weird... Every time I remove it, it bricks my phone. So, I just freeze it.

It appears that with the new v20c update, you can remove Address Book and Navigation.

Only app that crash system is Google Movies! I removed all staff from ATT and other and phone works well. But when I delete Moves it shows me Security Error.

[Q] Note 8 VERY slow... now

I've had my 8 for several months but now it's starting to slow down. I have done everything except a factory reset (because thats just a pain in the ass) but it is still slow. Short of the reset does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I assume your battery drain is normal, or has not changed since the slowness has happened.
You have not stated if you rooted or custom ROM has been installed.
I found a few apps will do this time to time... depending on when they update. I always monitor my apps so troubling apps are always reverted back to their previous version.
You can use security 360 to monitor your tablet... It is a very good antivirus with some nice built in features. One is memory speed up and usage.
Basically it lets you know what apps are running in background, and releases them to speed up the tablet. I like it because it is like having 3 or 4 apps all into one and does not hog memory.
You can search the Q&A for battery drain if you have issues with battery as well ... there are many threads, so at least one will help. The lengthy threads have some good info near the end... as I try to help using simple methods that work with stock ROMs.

If not rooted, do so and you can eliminate apps that you don't use and that suck up RAM. You can as well move programs to an SD Card to increase the memory available.
Additionally, rooted or not you can go in and clean out the cache of all your apps. They build up over time.

Went to Best Buy and talked to the Samsung rep and he had the answer! First, get rid of SPB launcher then use Clean Sweep (in the store) to get rid of bloatware. Fast as Hell now! App only works on non-rooted I think. But it DOES work! Thanks for the help!

SPB launcher??? It must have been rooted. I have a mostly stock ROM... never had speed issues, but it is all in the choice of apps I install.
Given that many apps are developer driven, and from my experience with developers here on the forum, makes me cautious about installing apps. I install only what I need and does the job cleanly. Sometimes the best apps are buggy when being updated to run 4.4.x, as I seen that a lot since Xmas. Though May has been a good start for the year... many apps have been sorted out, but still iffy as there are thousands of apps to choose from.
I places a thread, and an answer to battery, and apps disabling in a simple and minimalistic method. If anyone is interested, they can search for posts by me... they are within this year.

You should not have needed to uninstall SPB unless you already had a whole bunch of apps. I have 200+ Apps with no issues.
Also Clean Sweep is a nice app, but you can do this already without the added app. Open you Google search, look at the bottom left hand tab, open it and you can do the same thing.

Nope. Not rooted and the launcher worked fine but apparently it slowed the system down. Now it's smokin'.

Latest update adds a new service that installs bloatware

A little bonus update For those Verizon Galaxy S7 users who are unaware http://www.smartphonesupdates.com/latest-verizon-update-galaxy-s7-galaxy-s7-edge/ not mentioned in the change log.

If you own the phone outright, paid in full, they should disclose what they are doing to it. I cleared and froze right after upgrading.

This was also present on S6 and forward. Not new, but this should never have been added in the first place. I don't want random games on my phone.

I tried to disable but asked "Would you like to replace app with factory version?" Is another app that does the same thing going to replace it? I can't disable DT ignite if I don't click yes

Its because DT ignite has updates installed. Click yes and it will put the "factory" non-updated version back on the phone. Then it will allow u to disable as normal.

For those that may not have found it yet I have just started using Package Disabler Pro which let's you disable all of the verison and other bloatware without root...

DT ignite is a cancer waiting to spread. Forcing apps to install onto the device that has almost half its storage already taken by bloat. Haven't seen any apps besides the beam software install without my permission, had to install Nextradio manually ( which has annoying ads ). DT Ignite could one day install an app that can compromise your phones security due to programming flaws. All quickrooter exploits have been patched, however if it feels like a Trojan it is a Trojan

Just updated my VZ Galaxy S6 edge plus 64gb and this Cancerous AIDS is in that update as well. Before my eyes I had apps appearing like magic installing themselves one by one.
This is worse than most phones that have crap in their root preinstall folder that show up after every restart
Haven't had anything wacky installed, it's even installing an updated Instagram not from the Google play store

Safe to disable list for HTC 10

I'm in stock/unrooted phone and I'm looking to disable as many apps as I can without negatively affecting performance.
I've seen lists for other phones but haven't seen one for the M10.
Be grateful if someone could signpost me to a list already made or just start one here.

All the Google stuff really, besides play services and play, gmail and whatever else you use.
The other apps unless identifiable is leave will alone. You could end up with an OS that won't boot and in all fairness the benefits are extremely minimal.
Personally I'm like yourself I don't like bloat, but I'm rooted, so I flash venom and then tick the compete removal of sense then install the pixel launcher. Battery wise there's very little difference though.

Yea I've been through this before, I've streamlined my windows installation back when it was a benefit, but even then it wasn't a huge help.
If you ever root, check out apps like autostarts which stop apps from opening and that would probably have a bigger impact, haven't used autostarts for a while, minimal footprint from the app itself, but as I said you would need root access, plus removing ads etc and titanium to remove apps completey, for me rooting gives you the most flexibility and thus the largest benefit to better battery and performance, but again that's down the yourself.
Streamlining apps and removing things you don't need will give you a large benefit, get rid of apps that are intrusive like push ads, even Facebook has a massive impact on battery, Skype, Viber, they're all hogs.

It's a couple clicks on your phone, just have to pay up $20. No worries. A phone shop probably won't do it for you

Repair shop will not guarantee anything in case something will go wrong.

You can usually find some decent bloat removal lists here on XDA. Won't be made for the 10 and a little behind, but should help. I think getting a full updated safe to remove list is a great idea.
As for S-OFF (root), Sunshine crew does an amazing job to make the process as easy and safe as possible and provide really great support, even through phone I believe, as well as there irc channel.
Very good idea to do your M8 first as it can be very easy to permenantly brick your device IF you decide to mess around without research, which from your posts will not be an issue for you.
Basically once you are S-OFF, if you don't know what you're doing, just find a tutorial or ask in the appropriate thread, or create one.

highly unlikely you'll mess it up. Plus you don't need s-off so it is free. If you need help rooting IM me and i'll help, rooting is a process you want to be familiar with, getting someone to go do it for you isn't helpful because you don't learn anything, the root process isn't hard you'll be fine

Ah OK, yea I was referring to int unlocked. Provider specific I wouldn't know, I always buy unlocked. Less hassle.
